Warped Perspective

After the meteor was stopped, life was in chaos. Shinra collapsed into sections. Reeve, who could have kept some order, was killed during the meteor incident. He died shielding some children from the energy strikes cast from Meteor. Most of the soldiers formed groups in towns and became smaller military companies. Several towns formed new Government systems, using the trained men to protect their people. The once Shinra guards were now town protectors. One man rose to collect the some remians of the shattered company and create a newer company called Tylunar. The group went their own ways. Everyone still tried to keep in touch. Cloud and Tifa got married and a child named Brian. Yuffie married a local boy and took over as Clan leader. Cid and Shera were blessed with their son, Arthur. Barret started a bar in New Midgar. Vincent was always traveling. Later, Cloud mysteriously died. Some of the others also died under strange circumstances. The new company became bigger than Shinra and was discovering newer sources of energy. Soon, they began to control towns and use brute force.

Chapter 1

Zackery is an average build boy, with light brown hair, blue eyes and his age 18. He runs through some underground tunnels chasinmg some unknown creature. In his right hand is Buster sword. He then chases it to a dead end. His prey is some weird creature. It’s body both warped and odd, but still somewhat human.

Zackery, “What is it?”

Woman’s voice, “The enemy.”

He notices more of the same type of creature coming at him from behind. He is forced to also fight them. More monsters seem to keep appearing. Zackery falls back, unable to cope with the growing assault. The creatures pounce upon him, ripping his throat out. Zackery wakes up, falling out of his bed. He is safe in his father’s home. Zackery gets up and starts preparing for another day. Then he notices the fading marks on his throat in the mirror.

He spends the day practicing with his grandfather’s old sword. He didn’t have any family left. Both his father’s parents, Cloud and Tifa, were long dead. His mother was an orphan, so she didn’t have any parents. Three years back, his parents died in a fire. This home and some swords were all he had. The his swords once belong to Cloud during the period of the Meteor scare. The sword Zackery liked to use was Buster. This sword was the biggest and most awkward, but it had some power to it. He only lacked Cloud’s Ultimate sword. While practicing, he mentally goes over what he heard happened to the others. He wears an old loose shirt and loose pants held up by a simple belt. Plate sets over his heart held down by three straps, one over his left shoulder and the other two wrap around his waist.

Cloud Strife : The man died before his birth, his death a mystery. Cloud
was found outside a cave, with no wounds and no pulse. His body was
buried very quickly, without the usual preparations.

Captain Cid Highwind: His body was found by his plane one fall day.
It was quite obvious his wounds weren’t caused by the crash. His throat
was ripped open. Claw marks on the plane suggested some big beast
attacked it. Cid’s body was also marked by claws. Though there were no
other bodies nearby, strange blood suggested he wound something
severely before being killed.

Vincent: Vanished. He is presumed dead.

Barret: “Died from natural causes”, the report says. Yuffie doubt this
this very much. It was believed to have been poison. He was found
on the floor of his home by his daughter, Marlene.

Red XIII: Still lives in Cosmo Canyon with his family.

Tifa: Died 6 years after Cloud’s death. Breast Cancer.

Yuffie: Is still alive, but is no longer chief of her clan. Her son runs things
for her. Her granddaughter is to be his heir as clan leader.

Reeve/Caith Sith: Died during the time of Meteor.

Aeris: Died before Meteor arrived.

Later that night, he was to start traveling to Wutia. There Yuffie would instruct him on how to begin his first mission. Yuffie has been training her people to do raids against Tylunar. Even in old age, Yuffie was too spunky to allow Tylunar to control the world. She would laugh and say they should have tried harder to assassinate her.

Zack takes time to get his supplies together and at nightfall he starts out on his trip. Then borrows one of the slower Chocobos, since not many in the village would miss it. He takes one of the unused paths. Gets some distance, when the sun began to rise on a new day. He releases his chocobo and it runs back to the town. Takes shelter in some bushes to sleep. The sun is high when he wakes up and hears some girl’s protest. He peers out of the bush to see a girl suspended in some net and surrounded by Tylunar guards. The girl has dark red hair tied back in a braided pony tail. She looks around his age.

Chancey is hanging in some net, surrounded by three men whom leer at her. Her staff lays on the ground, useless to her now. She is wearing a short white shirt with tan vest and dark brown shorts.

One guard, “What have we here?”

Second guard, “A pretty little girl. I am sure we must question her closely. . .”

Third guard, “I get to have fun with her first. I do have the higher rank.”

Second guard, “Just leave some for us. Last one you killed too quickly.”

Chancey, “No you won’t you perverts!”

First guard, “Who is to stop us, little girl?”

A young man jumps from the bushes, his sword cutting the first guard in the back. The other two men draw their weapons and charge. He quickly kills cuts then down. Then he looks up at her.

Chancey, “I do hope you’re here to cut me down.”

Zackery, “Unless you wish to stay up there.”

Chancey, “If you would please. . . “

The boy traces the rope to its source and cuts it. Chancey falls to the ground and wiggles out of the net. She gets her staff and looks the boy over. He is also looking her over with some apprehension.

Chancey, “My name is Chancey Alovenor.”

Zackery, “My name is Zackery Strife.”

Chancey, “Thanks for rescuing me from those perverts.”

Zackery, “It was no problem. I have no love for those bastards. I do suggest you
continue east. It will be much safer for you in town.”

Chancey, “I should at least help you hide their bodies.”

They hide the bodies of the men in some far back bushes.

Chancey, “I must go, but I still owe you one.”

Chancey runs into the woods.
