Exodus
Tetha looked over at the face of the girl crying on her shoulder and let out a heavy sigh herself. She couldn't believe Tipa village, let alone their parents would turn them out because of their love. She still remembered how it happened - getting caught kissing by her girlfriend's mother, walking home yesterday only to be yelled at immediately by her father in their ancient Selkie tongue, her sister and brother rushing to her defense, followed by being kicked out of her own home; earlier today, the village elder Roland approached her and spoke with her.
"I'm sorry about this, I don't want you to leave; you're both kind girls. However, the villagers don't want you two here anymore, so you must leave as soon as possible. Here, take this." Roland handed her what looked like a small crystal chalice. "If you gather a single drop of Myrrh, this field will last for an entire year. Considering the reaction of the villagers here, you two will probably end up living life as rovers. I've already prepared a caravan wagon for you two behind my house, complete with provisions to last you quite a while. Good Luck, and I'm sorry; ireally don't want to see you two go."
'Thank goodness for Roland,' Tetha thought as she and her girlfriend Kain loaded up their belongings. 'Without the crystal and this wagon, we'd be SOL and JWF.' Tetha looked over at her girlfriend - she was a sight of radiant beauty, with long brown hair held by a hairband and bandana, and even though she wore a oversized white shirt, Tetha knew (from personal experience, of course) that she was a true goddess all over; never mind those dark chocolate eyes you could get lost in. She thought of her own appearance; long greenish grey hair falling wildly behind her, her halter top (considered somewhat conservative by other Selkie's standards) and piercing harsh eyes; how someone like Kain ever fell in love with her was nothing short of a miracle. As Kain and Tetha finished loading up, they heard footsteps behind them; turning around, Kain and Tetha were surprised to see Kain's sister Mintie and best friend Paul the Lility standing their, along with Tetha's younger brother De Tal and older sister Foo Kloo and best friend Yhargis the Yuke.
"What are you guys doing here?" Tetha asked a bit anxiously.
"We're coming with you, sis." Foo Kloo spoke up.
"Sis, no offense but... ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!?! What if Dad finds out? He'll disown you, not to mention you'll get kicked out by the village!"
"We don't care," spoke Mintie. "You are our family, and we still love you. If our parents can't accept you for who you are, them we don't want them as parents. We won't accept no for an answer. We've already bought food and weapons for the trip - The Blacksmith and Merchant are sympathetic for you guys, so their lips are sealed."
Tetha moved to speak, but Kain spoke up for the first time that day. "Thank you all, it's nice to know that we have friends and family still." Kain walked over to Mintie and gave her a hug, then Paul jumped up to receive a hug as Well; Tetha reciporicated with her siblings and Yhargis. They all loaded up on the wagon, and turned toward the town exit.
One minute later, they left the village permanently, not hearing the outraged yelling of their parents two hours later as they discovered their children had skipped town.
