Journey of Fayth
Prologue: The Choosing of Fates
“I’m here!” Anya called happily, ringing the doorbell of the home of her best friend Amber. She pushed some of her blonde hair out of her deep blue eyes. Her hair was pulled up into a high ponytail, which she had then, in turn, braided. She wore a tight orange shirt with the words ‘Excuse me do I look like someone who cares?’ written across her chest area of the shirt in navy blue and slightly faded black hip-hugger jeans.
The door was answered by a girl who looked to be about the same age as Anya, who had long reddish-brown hair and bright blue eyes. “About time you got here.” Amber said with a grin. She wore a black tank-top with red flowers decorating the straps and faded blue jeans. “Yeah sorry about the wait. My mom was being picky again.” Anya said, shifting the strap of her backpack slightly on her shoulder. “Ready to start summer vacation?” She asked.
Amber nodded with a grin and the two girls went inside the house, heading to Amber’s room. Various pictures and posters of characters from animes and video games covered the wall like a large collage. “So you’ve got it?” Amber asked her friend, heading over to her king-sized bed and plopping down on it.
Anya smiled and took off her backpack, rummaging through it until she pulled out a DVD. “Hehehe… ‘Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children’. Right here!” Anya said with a satisfied grin on her face.
“YAY! Your mom FINALLY bought it for you!” Amber said, going over and hugging her best friend tightly.
“Can’t…. breathe…!” Anya said. Amber let go and laughed slightly. “You just HAD to join karate.” Anya joked to her friend.
“Eheh, you know me. Gotta find some way to get back into shape.” Amber said.
“Amber!” Sarah, Amber’s younger called out, walking into the room. “Sarah, get out of my room!” Amber yelled at the younger girl. Anya sighed and ignored the sisterly fight as she set up the PS2 and put Final Fantasy X into the system and started it up.
“AGHHHHHHHHHHHH!” Amber yelled as she slammed the door. “I hate sisters!” She growled.
“Join the club. Sandy’s not much better.” Anya said, referring to her own younger sister.
“Sandy’s two years younger than you. You’re closer in age.” Amber reminded her.
Anya shrugged a bit but nodded, watching as Sin began to destroy Zanarkand in the game.
“Sometimes I wish I was an only child. Or at least had YOU for a sister.” Amber said, spilling her soda onto the PS2.
“AMBER!” Anya called out, watching the system start to spark.
“Oh god! Mom’s going to kill me!” Amber said, not noticing how the screen was seeming like water right now.
“Amber….!” Anya said, noticing and feeling the screen reaching out to them.
Both girls clung to each other and screamed as a strange sensation filled and surrounded their bodies.
The girls woke up a while later, both still unaware of what was truly happening to them. Anya and Amber looked around, seeing only vast darkness around them. “Woah!” Amber said, seeing a large stained glass-like floor.
“Way too Kingdom Hearts-ish.” Anya said. Amber walked a few feet away, towards the edge of the ‘window’ floor.
“Is it just me, or does this image look like Bahamut?” She asked her friend. “Yeah, it does.” Anya said. Both girls looked up, hearing a strange voice.
Choose your fate…
“What the hell?” Amber asked. “It said, ‘choose your fate’?” Anya said.
Choose your fate… Decide your destiny… But choose carefully. For one the choice is made, there is no going back.
Seven small pedestals appeared around the edge of the floor. “Woah, check it out.” Anya said, pointing at the first pedestal. “That looks like Tidus’ Caladbolg?” Anya asked.
“Yeah, and that looks like Yuna’s Nirvana. And Auron’s Masamune.” Amber said, pointing at two more of the pedestals.
“These are the Celestial Weapons of the characters in Final Fantasy X.” Anya said, walking over to the Nirvana.
“I wouldn’t touch that if I were you, Anya.” Amber said.
Anya stared at the weapon of the summoner. “My choice… is this one.” Anya said, gripping the handle of the weapon. A white light flashed around the weapon, then around her body. Amber watched as once the light faded so did the Nirvana. Anya fell to one knee and her friend rushed over to help her. “I’m ok.” Anya said. Amber looked at the six remaining weapons. “My turn, huh?” She asked, mostly to herself. Anya stood up and looked at her ‘sister’. “Be careful. That light made me feel… weird.” She said.
Amber nodded and looked at the weapons carefully, before walking over to Tidus’ Caladbolg. “Tidus was always my favorite.” She said before grabbing the hilt of the sword. Again a light appeared around the weapon, but this time it was a pale blue light. Amber winced as the light faded and the weapon vanished. Anya had moved over to Lulu’s Onion Knight.
“Anya? What are you doing? You picked your weapon already.” Amber said as she stood up.
“Then why are the others still here?” Anya asked. She reached out and touched the doll, another light surrounding the weapon and the girl. This one was a purplish black light. Once again, the light faded and the weapon vanished. “Try another weapon.” Anya said to Amber.
Amber, raising an eyebrow, only walked over to Auron’s Masamune. “If you say so…” She said flatly. Gripping the sword’s handle, a red light surrounded Amber’s body. Once the red light faded, the last three weapons faded from sight.
Your choices have been made… your destinies are set…
“That voice is giving me the chills…” Anya said.
“You and me both.” Amber said. Both girls looked down as the ground beneath them began to turn into a bright white light. They screamed as the light engulfed them entirely, before they both passed out.
