A/N: Sorry about the long update, family problems have occurred but I really do have a few chapters ready, just need editing before I can get them up. Thanks for being patient and those that have reviewed.

Number Twelve let a low growl that would normally have disturbed him. He was not an animal, he was not like the others. Yet seeing his prey standing at the window angered him. The man was mocking him, standing there in all his glory. That would be the man’s undoing. It was sheer luck he’d happened by this small town late in the evening. The storm had receded, leaving only a pleasant wind. A breeze that carried the scent of Sephiroth. He’d snuck into the Inn to make sure he wasn’t mistaken. His predecessor was sleeping in a room on the second story. A quick lap outside the door he was positive that the man was inside. He’d stopped long enough to hear the tell tale signs of it being occupied by two. Sephiroth had a female companion with him, he could smell her. Her scent was actually pleasant and stirred his blood.

He could have entered the room then and caught the man unaware. As he prepared to open the door the voices inside went silent. The hair on his neck stood at attention, he was no fool. Sephiroth would kill him if he barged in now. Doubt filled him that he might not be able to do what he wished. A fierce instinct told him to be cautious, to bide his time. So he’d left and waited until morning. He’d decide what to do soon, watch his target in the meantime.

His eyes watched the pale man move away from the window, features so much like his own. Then he saw her, she walked by to stand where Sephiroth had just vacated. A shiver ran down his spine and his breath caught. Something told him it was the one that had spent the night with his nemesis. She reached up to place an errand strand behind her ear, she was beautiful. His mind conjured up the possible name for the emotion coursing through his veins. He had the strong desire to experience what had occurred in that room last night. He didn’t want to rut like an animal but watching her speak to his enemy brought a strong longing.

He growled when his vision was blocked by a pale back, she was cut from his view. Long silver hair took away any chance of him watching her any longer. Another reason for him to hate the man. An elderly man came out of the Inn whistling. Time for him to disappear for a few hours. He’d been forced to abandon his last camp and he was hungry. With one last glance at the window he strode off in the direction of the forest. “Soon.”

Tifa screamed as the thrust penetrated deep. She whimpered in pleasure as the bed creaked under their weight. A finger was busy rubbing her clit vigorously as the other held her waist still. Her knees felt ready to buckle as her lower half throbbed from overuse. Even though she was sore he slid easily in her wet passage. Her eyes burned from lack of sleep, her muscles ached from being rearranged and held in too many positions during the night. “Oh, ugh, oh I’m going to cum.”

Sephiroth felt his balls tighten at the admission. His cock jerked hearing the words slip pass the parted lips. It couldn’t wait to feel the walls contract while drenching him in the girl’s juices making the friction better. Her spine arched, he drove into her without pause. Sweat clung to his chest and face, his breathing was labored yet he didn’t stop. The girl’s pussy clung to him in need, trying to draw out his own orgasm. Her back jerked as she cried out his name. He let go of her clit to grab her waist with both hands. He roughly shoved her legs further apart with his knees. Her knees moved across the bed sending her ass higher into the air. Lust drove him to pound into her as fast as he could. That sent her over the edge along with him. The rutting continued until he gave one last thrust having emptied himself.

Tifa panted into the pillow, too exhausted to move. Would she finally be able to get some sleep now? The bed dipped as he sat down on the edge. She felt the blush creeping to her cheeks as she admired him. She had to be out of her mind, she’d lost it some time ago. This was the only explanation she had for her behavior. She should be fighting him, cursing him for making her crave his touch. His skin glistened in the light. Had he worked up that much of a sweat? She rolled over to look out the window, the sun was already going down. Had they spent all day in bed? No wonder she felt like passing out. She hadn’t slept since they’d arrived. He’d let her eat but that was it, that was only twice.

“Get some rest we’ll be leaving in the morning.” Sephiroth reached for his pants. The girl had to be hungry by now. The leather fastened around his waist as a scream echoed down below. He reached for his sword, “Stay here.” He was out the door without glancing back. The stairs creaked as he descended, the air held the coppery scent of blood. There was nothing in the main room that served as a receptionist area. His feet were moving quick as he checked each room.

Another scream made him turn and sprint towards the back door. It was already open, hanging on the hinge. The mother was holding her husband against her chest, blood flowing down the man’s side. His eyes quickly assessed the situation. A large basket with clean laundry now speckled with blood was turned upon it’s side. The woman was weeping loudly as the man stated he was fine. Sephiroth didn’t see anything else, no sign of an intruder. Something had clawed the man’s side. He opened his mouth to question them when another scream came from inside. “Tifa.”

Tifa sat up in the bed and pulled the blanket around herself. An uneasy feeling settled in her gut. Who had screamed? It sounded feminine, perhaps the wife had seen a spider. There was no other commotion going on. She couldn’t hear anything, no sounds of a struggle. Whatever it was Sephiroth could handle it. Her legs swung over the sides allowing her to run if necessary. She had no intention of fleeing from him but she wasn’t going to hang around and die either.

A scratching sound echoed outside the window ledge, accompanied by groaning. It sounded more like a gurgling sound, someone drowning. Fear rolled down her spine and she jerked straight up. The bed was near the window, too close as the scraping continued. Was something climbing up the side of the house? She doubted a cat would go through so much trouble and it didn’t sound like an animal. Fingers with long claws appeared over the ledge. She was in trouble, it’s head popped into view. She was looking at a Sephiroth with two mouths, both with razor sharp teeth. Only one eye blinked at her in confusion. Saliva dripped as it scrambled into the room.

She screamed in sheer terror remembering what the last one had done. One scratch from this thing could kill her. It didn’t move until she sprinted for the door. It sprang as the door opened, she found herself looking up at Sephiroth for a split second and she was yanked forcefully aside. The momentum propelled her around and behind him. He was turned to the side, his sworn drawn. Blood dripped from the edge as she took a deep breath.

Sephiroth eyed the clone, it’s twin jaws snapping in agitation. It must have fled hearing him coming down. So why come for the girl? Or had it been searching for him and came where the scent was strongest? It snarled as he put the girl completely behind him. Shinra was really trying to push his buttons. It raced towards them, claws tearing across the wooden floor. He waited for it to get close enough then struck. The head was severed from it’s body in one clean swipe. The body fell midair, landing at his feet. The head rolled until it hit the wall. “We’ll need another room.”

Tifa almost laughed at the remark. He didn’t appear phased by the attack or attempt on his life. She had no doubt that they were hunting Sephiroth. Shinra had no reason to want her dead. She just happened to be with the General. It had come to this room looking for her captor. Even she could smell Sephiroth in the room, which to her made it cozy. She had to wonder how many more of these things were left. He’d also gotten back up to the room quick. “Thanks.”

“No need, it was obvious a poor excuse from the real thing. Shinra’s creation will not be allowed to take your life. It came for me, you have the misfortune of wearing my scent.” After hours of fucking he knew she had to smell strongly of him. Which was why when they appeared they would go for her. He wasn’t in sight and she reeked of him. How many had Rufus said had escaped? Should he expect more trouble? He didn’t feel like dealing with it right now. He was tempted to leave and deliver this one to the President before taking the blonde’s head.

“That’s right, only you get the pleasure of killing me.” She snapped and moved away from him. He didn’t even glance back, he tossed the corpse over his shoulder. Would he still kill her? Why wouldn’t he? She meant nothing to him no matter how many times she opened her legs. She had to accept that and she’d be better off. “I don’t understand you. If you want me dead why do you bother keeping me alive? It doesn’t matter when you do it, we both know Cloud will come for you either way. What’s the point in keeping me alive? Do you really think he cares that you are fucking me?” That got his attention she noticed. He stopped allowing blood to drip from the open neck. “Cloud isn’t in love with me, we are just friends. If you wanted to hurt him by having a sexual relationship with someone then you should have kidnaped Aeris. The most you’ll hurt him is from my death because the woman he cherished most you already killed. He had to watch as you plunged a sword through her back. Do you really think what you do now will affect him more than that?”

“We will see,” he commented but took her words in. Was he mistaken? He’d seen the images flash through Cloud’s mind. The girl was his cherished friend. Could what happened to her destroy him? He took the body outside and tossed it in a dumpster. Was she telling the truth? Over two years and the two hadn’t been intimate. Did the puppet feel nothing but friendship for the girl? If so did it really matter when he killed her and delivered the proof? It would be one less burden upon him if he were to dispose of her now.

Tifa saw the cold look in his eyes as he re-entered the room. She backed up until her knees hit the mattress. The sword was placed on the dresser next to the bed. The green eyes looked at her without wavering. “Am I to die now?” A hand snaked out to enclose around her slender throat. Tears came to her eyes as her oxygen was cut off. He took several steps forward forcing her back upon the bed. She didn’t fight him, she came to lie flat down and waited.

He leaned over her, seeing the panic enter the large brown eyes. He could see her fear, his grip loosened and she took in a deep breath. The distance was closed between them and he captured the trembling mouth in a brutal kiss. The lips parted, his tongue surged forward. His gut twisted as she returned the kiss. He greedily devoured her mouth, tasting every corner of the moist cavern. Fingers entwined in his hair holding his head down. His own caressed the hollow of her throat, circling to capture the nape. “No, as long as you remain with me you are dead to him. Return to him and I’ll have no choice but to ensure you are dead to us both.”

She felt his free hand jerking the blanket away. There was a startled gasp from the door but Tifa closed her eyes elated at the statement. Did it mean he wouldn’t kill her? Would he keep her alive as long as she stayed with him? Was it possible he no longer wanted to take her life? He didn’t specify his meaning as he drove into her. She clenched her fist at the soreness as he began to move. Within seconds she was wet and panting beneath him and the bedroom had been closed.

The soft fall and rise of his chest was soothing her. She’d woken up to use the bathroom and he hadn’t stirred. His arms went around her as she got comfortable but sleep eluded her. His earlier words bouncing around in her head. Did it mean he wanted her to stay with him? Or was she looking too deeply into it? He might mean just for now not permanently. He could still mean to kill her later. She didn’t know how to read him. He had always been a complicated person, now he was even harder to figure out. If he wanted to kill Cloud so bad then why was he stalling? Now he knew that him keeping her as a bed partner wouldn’t affect her friend’s emotions any more or less. Why not just kill her and then go try to destroy his enemy? Instead he told her to get some rest they would be heading out in the morning. He was still taking her with him.

She placed an arm around his waist and breathed in his scent. She suddenly felt like crying, the sting of tears welling. She was lost, it’d been easy to accept this fate earlier today. Yet now she found her emotions changing with everything he did. He’d rushed to save her today. Putting himself in front of her, without any care. Was there something deeper to his change of mind? Was it a simple switch of tactics or a change of heart?
