Chapter 11

They return to Wutia. There they learn Kain and Sylaira are planning a raid on the Tylunar headquarters. They wanted in on the plan. Vincent arrived at Wutia while they were gone. He is pleased to see Chancey acquired the white materia.

Vincent, “What did you have to do to get it from Cloud?”

Chancey, “He asked me to make him very happy.”

Madnol, “What?”

Chancey, “He wanted me to insure Able’s death. He went into why he wanted Able dead. Both Cloud and Able are what he called Core Jenova controllers. He says Able is a real downer. Always talking about them becoming gods. I think there is some sort of power struggle between the two.”

Madnol, “Damn, that is fucked up.”

Vincent, “So, Cloud is willing to let us kill Able? He must have other reasons. . . ”

Kain, “To break in, we need to be able to get there quickly. A way to drop in by surprise.”

Vincent, “We could do that with the Highwind. Cid hid it before his death, so I don’t know where it is. But, there may be a way to find it. . .”

Xavier, “How?”

Vincent, “Chancey, I want you to go into a trance and help us find it.”

Chancey, “I will try. . . but no promises.” She sat on the floor and began to meditate. Her mind goes back to the past. To the time Cid died.

She saw Cid flying his airplane. Then two monsters with wings attacked him. He did some good flying, but the things did too much damage to his plane. It goes down, crashing on the island below and along the side of a volcano. The crash was a bit ugly, but he was still alive. He crawled out with his spear ready to fight. He faced the two beast and other two wingless creatures that showed up. Cid killed one of the winged beast and seriously injured the other before they pinned him down. Then someone she couldn’t see was there.

Man, “I am suppose to ask for the Airship, but I will let you live if you tell me where Cloud is buried.”

Cid, “Hell, I wouldn’t tell you where either are hidden.”

Man, “Then, I will be force to hurt you alot.”

The creature holding him tried to get a better grip so they could torture him. Cid took this chance to twist out of it’s grip. There was some struggling. The man was telling the beast not to seriously harm in, but being ignored. Then one of them accidentally hits Cid in the throat. The creatures back up in surprise. Cid fell face down on the ground as blood began to pool under him. The body is turned over, to verify that Cid wasn’t ever going to talk again. Chancey then realizes the irony of it. Cid died on the island he hid the Airship. She comes out of the trance.

Chancey, “I know the island he hid it, but not where on the island.”

Vincent, “Point the island out to us. We must get there as soon as possible.”

They use Xavier's boat to reach the island. The island isn't too big but it had a volcano. They walked onto dry land, wondering where to look first. Madnol stood there, wishing he knew where his grandfather hid the airship.

Suddenly, he feels the spheres stir in his pocket. They flew out of his pocket and started to fly towards the center of the island and the volcano. Madnol runs after them, with the others following behind. He finds a door in the side of the volcano. The door opens by itself and the spheres fly through the doorway. He sees a brief image of someone gesturing towards it. He opens the door and runs inside. Runs down some stairs and halls till he comes to a bay. In the bay is the airship.

Madnol, is in pain from running, but he still hurries after the spheres and onto the airship. He never seen the bridge before and was amazed by it all. The others soon caught up and are on the bridge. Vincent realizes some of the bridge has been changed, only one person is needed to run it all. For a brief moment Vincent thinks he sees a man on the bridge, but puts it off as a trick of the light.

Vincent, “He has changed much before he died.”

The spheres float over a control panel before settling down into two spots. A third sphere already sat in the third spot. They find Cid’s video recording device and some tapes next to it. He made some notes on his work and several commentaries. The one they want is the last recording he made.

Cid, “Here we go. . . These, for who ever hears, are the main parts to the control panel. Yeah, Brass balls! Hahahahahaha, Hell I loved the idea myself. The kicker is you need to be attuned to them before they work. I may be dead, so you will have to figure out how to NOT to crash my baby. Those fucking Tylunar pansies have been pressing me for secrets. Hah! Over my fucking dead body! If I was killed by them, I just want to say “I told you so you fucking vampire!” No one believes me when I say something is bad. . . I told you that damn company would be just as bad a Shinra. Well, the attuned person just need to concentrate on them and they will do the work. I always hated that fucking steering wheel. Felt like driving a car or a boat. I do hope my work is finished. . . I kept the steering wheel as a backup system. I have this feeling I won’t see my baby again. My love to Arthur and Shera and whoever hears this. Peace, you suckers.”

The video quits.

Madnol, “Damn, he must have been an interesting man.”

Vincent, “Someone you would want by your side in a fight.”

Madnol examines the controls, “Yeah, I think could do this.”

He waves a hand over one of the spheres. The airship’s engines turn on. Then some doors above the airship open, revealing the way out.

Madnol moves his hands more and the Airship lifts out of the volcano. He crows in delight as the airship follows his commands perfectly.

Madnol, “Yeah, I could get use to this!”

Vincent, “We need to go back to Wutia to pick the rest of the team.”

Madnol, “No problem!”

Madnol flies the Highwind over to Wutia. People come out to see the Highwind approach Wutia. Both Turks are obviously impressed with the Highwind.

Vincent, “I think we are ready to pull the plan off.”
