Lady Luck
“Y’know, if you play your cards right, you just might get lucky.” Rikku flutters her lashes at Paine, grinning widely.
“Ugh… Rikku!”
“What?”
“That was, quite possibly, the worst line I’ve heard. Ever.”
“What, even compared to some of Brother’s?”
“Maybe it’s a family trait.” Paine reaches over, her leather gloved hand gently tracing over the club between Rikku’s breasts. “Although it does beg the question how you ever managed to have a family in the first place.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Rikku leans forward, pressing her forehead against Paine’s. She is feeling playful in spite of the vague irritation she supposes she should be feeling, as they sit on the Shoopuf’s back, watching the dance of light on the Moonflow. They’re the only ones on the Shoopuf’s back, and the Hypello is distracted by whatever Hypello do to distract themselves.
“It means…” Paine presses a kiss to Rikku’s mouth, idly twisting a braid around her fingers, “that your whole family is very lucky that verbal persuasion isn’t the only way you can talk people into your beds.”
Rikku rolls her eyes, pressing Paine into the wall of the Shoopuf’s saddle-box. “If things like being nice were necessary for breeding, you’d be the end of your family line,” she huffed, then winced inwardly. Paine’s family is one of those things that they Don’t Talk About, and she mentally prepares herself for Paine to push her away. She freezes when she feels Paine’s hands on her hips, expecting to be pushed. She’s already moving away, but instead of pushing her away, Paine has hooked her fingers under Rikku’s belt, and is pulling her closer.
“My brother already saw to that,” Paine says quietly, and she kisses Rikku again, a bit harder this time. Her hands move to the back of Rikku’s head, burying themselves in Rikku’s hair, and if they’re shaking slightly, well, it could be arousal or it could be nerves, but who knows, with Paine?
“You have a brother?” Rikku breaks their kiss and sits down on the bench as she sees land get closer. She doesn’t want to be caught smooching on top of the Shoopuf when they reach the other side, if only because she doesn’t want to cause too much of a spectacle. “I didn’t know you had a brother.”
“There’s a lot about me you don’t know,” Paine points out, taking Rikku’s hand in her own, yellow gloves and black. She puts her other hand on Rikku’s knee, feeling her fishnet stockings even through the leather of her gloves.
“Would you want to… tell me?” Rikku can feel her heart hammering against her ribs, and she’s vaguely surprised at that. She’s seen Paine without clothes on plenty of times, but she thinks she can count the amount of times she’s seen Paine naked on one hand. Well, now it’s two hands.
“Sure,” Paine says, squeezing Rikku’s fingers. “Where should I start?” She sounds nervous, but it’s hard to tell why, exactly. She’s always played her cards pretty close to the chest.
“Well… tell me about where you grew up?” Rikku looks at Paine hopefully. She thinks she really likes this dressphere - this might not be “getting lucky” in the regular sense of the term, but Rikku thinks this is the luckiest she’s been in a very long ti
