Chapter 2
Cid appeared in some strange building. He had no idea where he was. He saw kids walking around the place. Their were in school uniforms. Most hem hem ignored him. He lit another cigarette and looked out a nearby window. He saw he was miles above the ground. Realized this building was somehow flying.
Cid, “Damn . . . . “
A man walked up behind him.
Man, “Very impressive sight indeed. I am always amazed this place can fly.”
The man had short brown hair and gently brown eyes. He looked like some sort of school principal.
Man, “You get separated from the tour group?”
Cid, “Yeah, no offense but who are you?”
Man, “I’m Cid Kramer, headmaster to this school.”
Cid Highwind nodded, “Yeah? Nice to meet you. Where are the other tourists?”
The headmaster pointed their direction out.
Cid Highwind mutters, “Gee, better hurry and catch up to them.”
He quickly goes and joins the tour group. Kramer then remembers not seeing this man enter the school at all. He always watched the tour groups enter. Highwind fitted into the group because they didn’t pay him any attention. The lady showed they several of the rooms. Cid found this very boring. He separated from the group and wandered into a strange room. The room was larger than he expected and full of vegetation. He walked started to look around some when some huge dinosaur approached him, a T-Rex. That is when he realized what made it a training room. Cid was impressed by the idea. He pulled his spear out and began to battle. Of course, he killed it rather quickly and two students ran up to him.
One student, “Are you okay mister?”
Cid laughs, “Just fine. That was a nice exercise.”
Second Student, “Sir, only students are allowed back here.”
Cid, “Shame, more interesting than the tour itself.” Leaves the training room.
Kramer also saw the man kill the dinosaur. So far this strange person appeared in his school, but hasn’t caused any trouble. His fighting skills are very impressive. So, Kramer decided to have supper with the students today. The cafeteria not yet, so he got a table close to the tour group. Kramer chatted with some students and one of the teachers. He always liked to get their input and get to know them. He also kept one eye on the unexpected guest.
Meanwhile, Cid Highwind was listening to tourist talk about their home towns. They were from various families who were thinking of sending their children to the school. Cid got the names some cities this way. Otherwise... He is in a funk. All he knew was he was in a strange world with nowhere to go. Plus, listening these people chat was boring. Cid eventually got so bored, he walked outside for a bit. He took a deep puff, wondering what else would happen. While watching the birds fly by, he heard some strange noise.
There was loud sound on the balcony outside the cafeteria. Some more experienced students went outside. Kramer moved close to a window to see Elnoyle and Imps attacking. The students ran out and began fighting them. He could see the man fighting some. His proximity to the edge worried Kramer. He watched his students fight, pleased they learned so well. One of them tries to use some magic. He messed up some, causing an explosion. This threw them off their feet. This also threw the man over the edge. He screamed “Sh@t!” as he fell. The creatures were also knocked over the edge. The students hurry over and look down. Kramer also goes outside. The man somehow slammed his spear into the side of the school and was hanging on to it.
Kramer turns to a student, “Go get some rope and hurry.”
Man, “Damn!”
Kramer, “Just stay calm. Someone is looking for some right now.”
Man, “Gee, thanks for blowing my a$$ off the balcony! Next time, cast a spell you know how to $#@*% handle!”
The monsters not killed by the attack come flying back at them. Some go after the man, who punches one with a free fist. The students are driven from the edge. Kramer backs off towards the door. He sees the man come up on the back of a Elnoyle. The man barely onto the creature.
Man, “Never mind the rope!”
The creature goes flying off with him holding tight, cussing. The students kill off most of the creatures, when one person came over with a rope.
Kramer, “I want all the information on that man.”
Kramer is in his office now. The was nothing on the man in the files. No name, no record for a home town, and no birth certificate.
Kramer, “As if he dropped from the sky.”
Nida walks up, “Sir, we have some strange reports. Strange energy gates appearing and creatures coming from them.”
Kramer, “What types were they?”
Nida lists them off.
Kramer, “Very odd. . . . “
Nida, “There was something similar in the school, but student who saw it thought it another prank.”
Kramer, “Was it near the tour?”
Nida, “Yes, but nothing was said because no damage was done.”
Kramer, “Hmm, a man with no past appears. Near the place of a strange burst of energy. . . Did anyone find him?”
Nida, “Not yet.”
Kramer, “We better track him down.”
