Chp 2
Chapter 2
They get there in time to kill some monsters, but not save the whole from burning. The monsters have already killed many people, but the early warning gave families a chance to escape before the battle. The army of monsters head south to disappear. They weren’t certain if Jenova and Cloud were with the army.
Xavier is still quiet and has no desire to speak to them. He only replies in grunts. The mystery of Highwind flying by itself is dismissed for the time being.
Meanwhile, Kain alerts the other cities and towns of the problem of monsters attacking. Some of the further towns hold skepticisms about it, while the rest begin to organize their defenses. Tylunar offers help to them and ask that they could start working together to stop this threat. The replies were ‘We’ll think about it” and “We’ll get back to you.” Kain isn’t too pleased.
Vincent, “I am not surprised they hesitate on helping. They either remember being controlled or have been too independent for too long.”
Zackery, “Damn, they’ll get wiped out if they do it by themselves.”
Vincent, “They don’t know the full dangers.”
Chancey, ‘So, unless they allow us to help, we can’t do much for them?”
Vincent, “Other than finding a way to stop Jenova, nothing.”
Chancey, “How much more sacrifice must we make? Yuffie, Art, Madnol. . . . who else?”

Madnol slowly crawls from his hiding place. Most of his potions were lost in the shuffle of getting his ass kicked by the monsters. He has just enough to keep from bleeding to death. His weapons are lost and he feels feverish. Madnol slowly begins to make his way down the Shinra building. The power is no longer operational, so he stumbles down dark stairwells. Never sure if there are more monsters in the building. After hearing noises things and jumping at ghosts, he makes it to the outside part of Shinra. He has to rest some before climbing down the wire.
Madnol barely makee it down the wire without falling off. Staggers towards a gate to leave Old Midgar. He wanders past the abandoned shops, across the broken roads, and past old sectors. His head is pounding and his body aches. Madnol trippes and stumbles to his knees. Vision is wavering in and out. He hears someone close by and passes out.

Several days go by. Then, one of the newer, smaller towns was attacked. They were taken by surprise and the whole town was slaughtered. All the Kain could do was bury the victims. This encouraged the cooperation between the other towns and cities with Tylunar. Kain sent some weapons and supplies to them.
They, of course, have to keep in mind their own needs. They are eagerly looking for hints of Jenova, Cloud, or the roamirmy rmy of monsters. Secretly Zackery is hoping Madnol was still alive, but he eventually admits the chances were too slim. Then they got word on another attack. They board Highwind and fly to the small village.
They arrive as some of the monster army were just approaching from the east. The heroes are quickly join the village defense team and are soon deep within battle. Cloud shows up in the middle of the main fight. The other heroes are too busy to notice him approach Chancey. Chaney turns in time to see Cloud strike. Punch into her stomach is hard enough to make her pass out. Cloud slings her over his shoulder when Zackery notices. He was giving someone backup at the time. By now, his fellow fighter is able to continue on his own. So, Zackery tries to make his way over to Cloud and Chancey.
Then a strange thing happenes. Two people came flying out of the s Tec Technically it is only one person who is flying and the other is holding on with dear life. Art swoops in towards Cloud, dropping Madnol on him. This knocks Cloud over, since he truly isn’t expecting an aerial assault. Madnol runa of with the unconscious Chancey. Cloud was no longer after Chancey, as he some grew wings and goes after Art. The battle below continues, now with the monsters retreating. Vincent has time to see the two winged people. Art is slowing in his flight, unable to keep up his speed. Knowing he can’t outfly Cloud, he brakes his speed and allowed himself to plummet towards the ground.
Cloud is going at full speed and overshoots him. Art uses his wings to stop his descent and glides over the heads of the fighters. Vincent begins to take some shoots at Cloud. Blond villian take this as his exit, flying in the same direction of the retreating monsters.
Art lands in a very ungracefully manner to check on Madnol and Chancey. The others follow in shock.
Chancey wakes up, looking into Art’s tired face. She first thinks she is dead. Then, she notices Art’s physical condition. Art has scarring over 45% of his body. The type of scar left by a burn. He has faint scarring on his face. Higher scaring seemed to be fading. He now sports a metal eye patch. Chancey grabs him in a tight hug.
Chancey, “Art! You’re still alive!” Then slapped him, “Why didn’t you let me know sooner, you asshole!”
Art takes all this abuse, “A long story. . . “
Madnol, “Hey, no hello to me?”
Chancey gives Madnol a quick hug.
Chancey, “Madnol, you’re alive!”
Madnol, “Yeah, the odds were slim.... but I made it!”
Xavier comes running when he heard the news. He stops next to Madnol. Both brothers stand in a embarrassed silence.
Madnol, sheepishly, “Ah, hi brother. “
Xavier hugs him, “You little shit! You do that to me again and I will personally kill you!”
Madnol, “I love ya too! “ Winces, “ Can you let me go, I’m not quite healed yet. “
