Chapter 2
(( Writer's Note: I do tend to jump around to different characters. Just to give you fair warning. ))
Chapter 2
He woke up in a chamber. Not sure how long he has been floating here. It took a bit of work to get free of it, as the room is very dimly lit. Looking back at his chamber, it reminds him of some funky human size test-tube. There are three chambers but only one is left occupied. Her locks of hair long and silvery. Face of an angel. Stands staring in awe before remembering himself. Who is she? Why is she wearing nothing? And who is he?
After fumbling around the room, he finds one light working in the ceiling. The girl show signs of life but is sleeping. Was there someone else? Yes, he knows there was. That thing.... He recalls not much but its enough to send shivers down a back. What he needs is a mirror! Despite the poor lighting, he sees there is a small mirror in the room. Uses it to look upon himself. Mako eyes of intense beautiful blue. Black hair with downward spike. Handsome face, if he says so himself. The name just seems to come to him. His name is Zack fair. Everything thing about him is just as it should be. Something nags him though about his face but can’t put a finger on it. And some clothes would have been nice. So he searches the room for the essentials. There is not much besides two old jumpsuits that will have to do for now.
After getting them both into some actual clothing, its time to check outside the room. The door seems to be jammed. Zack presses against the crack to see what the heck is outside this chamber. The sight is hardly comforting. Some huge bug ontop a trash heap nest. The door is not wide enough for them to get inside right now, but to open it will attract their attention. Not even certain he can fight his way past them without a weapon. The metal plates on their bodies look hard enough to break some bones, well for an ordinary person that is. Zack knows he is better then average; they might even be a problem for him despite his skills. There is the girl to consider. Nothing left but slightly dusty computer in the corner. Though mostly used to monitor the people in the chambers, it might still be useful. After a scan over, he spots what looks like some intercom system. Maybe someone is out there? Zack calling into the receiver“ Hello? Hello! Someone! please hear this. “
Nothing happens, aside the bugs seem to stir more outside the room. Despite the chances of drawing attention, Zack tries again and again. Silence is all he gets. There is no one in this base it seems, aside the girl and himself. Perhaps their third roommate. He thinks he can sense him out there but the sensation is fuzzy.
A high pitches buzz seems to fill his head. It almost feels as if something is trying to push into his brain. Zack grasps his head in pain. Someone is here with them. Presence mockingly looks him over, Judging him in a strangely familiar way. “ Hojo? Leave me alone! “ Yelling as he concentrates, trying to block the presence out of his mind. The pain and noise seem to fade away as he wins. The pain is now a dull throb, one again alone within his prison with the girl. Whatever is happening, Zack knows he won an important battle. Till they get out, the bugs are not their only threat. Must get her free.
Zack wakes to hear some static voices on the computer comm. What seems like days may well just been a few hours. Hard to tell as the room has no clocks. At least his head feels better. The girl looks back at him, not fully awake yet. This is a good sign. Zack then recalls he needs the hekp of these strangers on the other end. Zack speaks into the comm. as loud as he can, “ Hello? Help! Please hear me! “ At last, some help! ... but what if they were working for Hojo? At least point, beggars can’t be choosy... or something like that. “ Someone, help us! Don’t leave us here to be bug food! “
Voice hard to hear, “ ... Hear.... Where... you? “
Zack, “ I’m in some room. There are some huge ass bugs outside and I have no weapons. “
Voice, “ ... Stay... will.. get you... “
Zack feels the need to just laugh. The voice is so familiar but in a good way. The feeling of relief washes over him for a moment. They are going to be getting out soon! If not for his Soldier First class self control, he may well have cheered. Zack recalls he is Soldier first class. Why not, being an awesome fighter. Now they just have to wait!
Zack helps himself to a place next to the girl. The girl looks up at him, seems she has been taking in their situation while he was dozing. No, she has a name and its Fianna. How or why he knows, doesn’t really matter. Perhaps he known her all his life? No, he doesn't think so.
Zack quietly asks, “ How you feeling? “
Fianna, “ I feel woozy. “ Her voice right now soft, trying not to make too much noise. If she was in better condition, her fighting skills would have been enough for her to even take these bugs. Neither of them were in top condition. Perhaps being in this room too long, being displayed like sea monkeys.
Time seems to just stretch on, without any idea of what's going on. There is nothing to even really say. Fianna seems to be content to doze in and out. Zack feeling more and more fidgety.
His attention drawn to the noise in the next room, gun fire followed with an explosion that seems to shake even their room. Fianna’s eyes widen as it seems a war is being waged a mere wall away from them. Then all seem to go quiet. A man at the doorway calls inside, “ Are you well? “
Zack, “ Yeah, the door is stuck. Maybe if you pull one side and me the other? “ It takes both to budge it. A pale man with dull red eyes, metal claw for a hand, and rather stylish clothes, or so Zack thinks, looks them over once the door is open. The gunman bears Haunting, chilly handsome face.
Zack, “ Name is Zack, this is Fianna. Whoever you are, I hope you’re not with Hojo! “
The man nods, “ Vincent Valentine and I am not with Hojo. “ pauses to shoot a bug as it twitches without even having to look. “ Lets go. “
