It was Vincent who opened the door, Vincent who walked in and sat next to Cloud. The gunman silently waited for the blond to speak, knowing he would when he was ready.
He didn't have long to wait.
"I... am surprised." Cloud stated.
Vincent looked over at him. "Surprised?"
"Yes. He... You saw him, Vincent! Is it just me, or is he acting differently?"
Vincent hid a smile. "You've changed him, Cloud. Even I can see that."
Cloud looked incredulously at him. "What did I do?"
"You cared for him. Even after all he did, you stayed."
After he said it, Vincent realized that was probably a little sappy sounding to Cloud. But the blond just took it in without comment.
"..." Cloud looked away.
Vincent did let his smile show through now as he stood.
"I think, that maybe, he really changed when you chose to come to Nibelhiem with us. You didn't have to. You could have freed yourself. Instead... I don't know if I'll ever understand why, Cloud."
Cloud looked at him. "I love you, Vincent. Chaos is a part of you. No one should ever forget that. I accept you, crazy demons and all."
Vincent chuckled at Cloud's words.
/I hope you heard that./ Vincent said in amusement.
/I hear all, Valentine./ Chaos grumbled.
/I wanted to be certain./
/Oh, don't worry. I heard Cloud call me a crazy demon./
Cloud smiled. "Is he talking to you?"
"Yes. He's indignant at the crazy demon comment."
Cloud laughed. "Sorry, Chaos."
/...Forgiven./ Chaos muttered, smiling none the less.
"He says you're forgiven."
"That's always good."
Vincent took Cloud's hand.
"Are you free?"
Cloud was confused until he registered Vincent's underlying meaning. Yes, he was free from Chaos, he supposed.
"Yes."
Vincent's soft smile widened. "Then be with me tonight."
/Valentine, are you TRYING to make me regret turning him down today?/ Chaos groaned.
/No./ Vincent answered truthfully.
/... It does not seem like it./
Cloud smiled and said.
"Of course."

Hm.... There probably won't be very many chapters after this. One or two should polish it off.
