Joined Worlds

Chapter 3
Cloud, Vincent, and Yuffie knew they were in another world.
Cloud, “Hmm, this is new.”
Yuffie, “Look, there is a town over there.”
They walk over to the town. The town Balamb is small, but clean looking. Cloud pauses to breath in the ocean air. Off a ways, someone was watching them. Zell was on vacation and visiting his mother. He had short blond hair with a tattoo on his face. He was bumming around, when he saw the three strangers walk into town. The girl looked cute. The taller of the men looked suspicious and the shorter man just looked odd. Plus, the blond had a sword he never seen before. They seemed to be slightly lost. The short guy talk to the gas pump man. Then they went towards the pub. Zell decides to have a drink also. Cloud gets a seat where he can hear some rumors from the locals. They are talking about the energy flashes that have brought weird creatures in some areas. They also talked over other more boring issues.
Cloud, “Interesting. . . “
Yuffie, who was looking at a card she stole along the way, “So, they’re having problems too. This is a weird card...... “
Then a young man (Zell) slides next to Yuffie.
Zell, “Hey, can I buy you a drink?”
Yuffie gives him a strange look, “No thanks. . . . “
Zell smiles big and offers a hand to shake, “My name is Zell. You guys look lost.”
Yuffie doesn’t go to shake it, “The name is Yuffie.”
Cloud clears his throat, “Yuffie. . . “
Yuffie, “What?”
Cloud, “You shouldn’t go talking to just any strange geek you meet.”
Zell a bit insulted, “Hey! I am no geek! I happen to know this area quite well.”
Vincent whispers, “We could use some advice. . . “
Zell, “On what?”
Cloud, “We witnessed a strange energy burst and we need to know who could tell us about this.”
Zell nods, “Yeah, I heard that has been happening. . . Well, Balamb Garden has some people who might help.”
Cloud, “Garden? Isn’t that a place you grow plants?”
Zell sounds surprised, “You never heard of Garden?”
Cloud decided he didn’t have the patience for this, “Thanks for your help. Where is the closest Garden?”
Zell, “If you wait a day, Balamb will be arriving.”
Yuffie, a bit confused, “Arriving?”
Cloud gives his friends a glance, “Well, I suppose we can wait. . . “
They get up and walk out of the bar.
Zell sat there, wondering who they were really.
Cloud stepped away from the bar, closely followed by the others.
Yuffie, “Are we going to stay here?”
Her mind on trying to get more of those strange cards.
Cloud, “Yeah, why not? Lets get a room somewhere.”
They an an Inn and rent a room. Cloud suggests they split up and relax. Yuffie loved the idea. She decided to go shopping and maybe use some of her five finger discount. Zell saw she was alone in one of the stores. He approached her, this time by trying to surprise her. He was about to put his hand on her shoulder when she surprised him. Yuffie grabbed his hand, flipped him over, and pinned his arm behind his back.
Zell, “Ouch!”
Yuffie releases him and they both get back up, “Well, you shouldn’t sneak up on a ninja, pal.”
Zell gets back up and rubs his shoulder, “Sorry, meant it to be a joke.”
Yuffie eyes him, “What do you want?”
Zell, “Hey, I had the day off and I saw you were shopping.... ”
Yuffie laughs, “Cloud said I could have the day to explore.”
Zell, “Cloud is which one?”
Yuffie, “He is the blond. Vincent is the other one.”
Zell, “Is Cloud usually that friendly?”
Yuffie, “He is just worried. . . One of our friends has disappeared and it had something to do with some energy burst.”
Zell, “Maybe I can help ya out.”
Yuffie smiles, “That would be great.”
Zell discovers that he likes to make her smile.
Zell, “I can show you around town..... If you don’t mind. “
Yuffie, “Sure, I could use a tour guide.”
He gives her a tour around the town. He found himself liking Yuffie very much. She was friendly and energetic. A bit like Selphie, but not nearly as clumsy. She listened to him when he told her about landmarks and the stories behind them. Found him both sweet and cute. She acquired a few cards by then and asked about them. She doesn’t go into her home town and Zell doesn’t push it.
Yuffie, “This is a.... nice town.”
Zell, “I like to think so too.”
Yuffie, “Reminds me of home a bit.”
Zell, “So, you have anyone special?”
Yuffie, “Me? No way. . . “
Zell pushed, “Not even Cloud or Vincent?”
Yuffie laughs, “They’re just my friends. We fought alot of battles together.”
Zell, “Yeah, I got friends like that myself.”
They stop at the docks. A cool breeze blows across the ocean.
Yuffie sees Cloud walks towards the town exit.
Yuffie, “Where is he going?”
Zell, “Want to sneak a peek?”
Yuffie, “Yeah!”
