Chapter 3

The others wanted to hear their stories of survival. Art told his story first.

Art, “Well, I was up there with Elos with a bomb stuck to me. Then, it hit me. Why the hell am I wearing the bomb? So, while he struggled to get me off him, I slapped it on him. I didn’t think I could get away from the blast radius. In fact, when the bomb went off I was hit by most of it. I woke up in a small house near old Midgar. My whole body was badly burnt. Hell, I am happy I could heal this much! I was somehow teleported to a safe place to heal. I still had to wait and my my body heal. I would have reestablished our link, Chancey, but I need to be next to you to do that. Then, I saw the monsters leaving Old Midgar and went to check it out. I saw Madnol in the slums when I was on my way out.”

Madnol, “Which begins my part of the story. I was trampled, clawed, and bitten. I somehow wiggled my ass into a hiding place. Most of my potions were lost, but I had enough to stop the bleeding. I passed out and woke up in a deserted building. Somehow, I made out out of the building and down the wire. Art found me and took me to that small home and saved my life.”

Art, “I didn’t have any potions either, so I had to do it the old fashion way. Good thing he had soldieratmeatment or he would died anyway. He told me about Master Cloud and Jenova.”

Madnol, “So, what have we missed?”

Zackery, “They are leading an army of monsters around. arm army has attacked small towns and cites so far. Till, ClouCloud hasn’t shown up.”

Art, “Does Chancey have something other than a sexy body?”

Vincent, “She is holding the white and black materia.”

Art, “Hmm, those sound familiar. Are they special?”

Zackery, “The black materia called the Meteor that almost destroyed the planet.”

Vincent, “The white materia “Holy” helped save the planet.”

Zackery, “Together, they are part of the cure for Jenova cells.”

Art in shock, “You have his cure?”

Chancey, “Yeah... One small question, darling. How come Jenova isn’t controlling you?”

Art, “I have inferior cells. Too weak to control me.”

Madnol, “We tried to heal him, but we need to be close to him and we need enough time to cast it. Last time, he didn’t give us a chance and then Jenova was released.”

Zackery, “So, either they know she has them or they want her for another reason.”

Art, “What else do you need to use this cure?”

Chancey, “The prayer of the ancient must be recited.”

Art, “Ancient? But there are no ancients. I remember this.”

Vincent, “How come you know some things but not others?”

Art winces slight, “I told you...... I am an imperfect clone. I have some of Master Cloud’s memo, bu, but not all of them. Well, if we take out Jenova first, I am sure Master Cloud will weaken enough for us to heal him.”

Zackery, “With Art back we haveetteetter chance at beating Cloud, if we can track down where they go. . . “

Vincent, “He’ll try to get Chancey again. When he does, one of us can bug him.”

Madnol, “Hell, I am starving! Where is the food?”

Art yawns, “Yeah, I could use some food and a nap. I could really also use a. . . ”

Chancey covers his mouth, “Later, lover boy.”

Zackery, “Lets give them a chance to rest and eat. We can see how the villagers are doing.”

Vincent, “Spoken like a leader.”

The villagers had some injures, but most were easily healed. After some checking, they joined their newly returned comrades for some food. Art ate alot of food for someone his size. Zackery and Madnol almost ate as much. Chancey noticed Art’s scarring grow fainter. She figured in a few days it would be hard to guess he was hit by a bomb.

Art, “I looked over the reports of the attacks. This is busy work.”

er, er, “Busy work?”

Art, “Yeah, busy work. See, neither Jenova or Master Cloud have shown up. They are testing the waters and seeing how well we can fight. Master Cloud used that last fight as a smoke screen to get Chancey. Now, he will have to either use another battle or do something completely unexpected.”

Madnol, “What will we do now?”

Art pulls Chancey closer to him, “I’m going to personally protect Chancey. Even if I must stay by her side 24 hours a day.”

Chancey, “Get that look off your face, you pervert.”

Zackery looks away, smirking, “Oh, I can see being blown up hasn’t changed his libido.”

Madnol laughs, “I would say lets give them some privacy but I know Art is too tired to do that.”

Art, “Yeah, flying too much does drain me. Man, did master give me a chase. I really think he hates my guts. Thanks for distracting him, Vincent.”

Zackery, “You two came in perfectly. You should have seen it, Xavier! Art dropped
Madnol on Cloud before he could smuggle Chancey away.”

Madnol laughs, “The landing hurt, but it was fun as hell!”

Art, “Hey, at least you didn’ve tve to fly from old Midgar and then run from someone who wanted you dead.” And yawns, he is very obviously tired.

Chancey, “We can decided what to do in the morning. I am putting him to bed. I do suggest Madnol goes to bed also.”

Madnol, “No need to put me to bed. . . Unless Art can share. . . “

Chancey throws some food at him. She then leads Art away. Last words they hear from Art, “Hey, you can be on top.”

The next morning, they go back to Tylunar headquarters. Kain is surprised to see Art and Madnol again. Xavier tells Madnol about the escape and the mystery on how Highwind flew by itself. Madnol looked puzzled. Art didn’t look that surprised, but kept his mouth shut. They went to the meeting room, where Syliara had some refreshments ready.

Zackery, “Hey Art, Tell them your theory.”

Art, “He is using these attacks as a form of diversion.”

Kain, “Diversion. . . . Are you s”

Art, “Listen.... If I was Master Cloud, with disposable monsters, I would be seeing how fast you freak out and then use them to occupy you while I get the prize. No great thinking there. He wants Chancey, the materias, or both”

Sylvia, “You call him Master Cloud?”

Art, “He is the one who gave me life. Don’t worry, I am loyal to this world’s safety
first. I do want my Master Cloud healed if possible.”

Madnol, “Hell, I trust Art more than you Turks.”

Art smiles, “Yeah! I’m just a horney good guy.”

Zackery, “Back on track people. Art suggested we go after Jenova if we have a choice.”

Vincent, “If we can find her. We need a bug, so we can plant it on Cloud and keep track of their movements.”

Chancey, “Who is going to put it on him?”

Art, “I will! He wants me dead anyway.”

Chancey, “No you won’t! I don’t want to lose you.”

Art, “But, no one else will be able to get close, except you and we need you.”

Zackery, “How about this. Whoever gets close to Cloud can bug him?”

Xavier, “That’ll work.”

Kain, “I can give you the bugs before you leave.”

Zackery, ”We still have unsolved issues. The monster armies, what we do with Jenova when we find her, Cloud. ”

Art, “You worry too much. Life is too short to stress out over all the small details.”

Zackery doesn’t reply.

Madnol, “So, we just wait for him to make his move?”

Kain, “That is all we can do.”

Madnol grumbles, “I hate waiting.... “

Xavier, “Okay, one last question before we end this. Does Highwind have autopilot? Because I never ran across it.”

Madnol, “It doesn’t have one. It has a backup steering wheel. Cid said in one of his Vids that he was going to keep it encase the first system failed. Nothing on autopilot.”

Xavier, “How the hell did it maneuver itself next to the building and fly away from Old Midgar? That would have taken skill not to hit the building.”

Vincent ponders this, “ ..... man many people have the skill to be able to use. “

Art, “Does it matter? Since I am no longer needed... I am going back to Highwind to take a nap.” Thus leaves the room.

Madnol, “Damn abrupt wasn’t he?”

Chancey, “Hmm . . . I have something to do.” Then leaves the room.
