CHAPTER 3: Answers To Life & It's Consequences
The "3" people! Enjoy it.
NOTE: When I started to write this one, I realised that Lady White was a dumb idea, but I think I got through okay... ALL HAIL SQUARE ENIX!!
‘Luna, Yiffie?’ Alec opened the door of his house.
‘It’s Yuffie, you moron.’ She smiled sarcastically.
‘I know…’ Alec grinned.
He was a man their age, tall, short black hair with a terribly big fringe, covering most of his face and his pretty blue eyes. He was tanned, only covered in black pants – no shirt, baring his athletic upper body.
‘You haven’t changed much at all… still like to bare yourself to all to show nothing?’ Yuffie mocked him as she entered before him.
‘Hey Luna.’ He gave Luna a kiss on the cheek as she entered.
‘Hey Alec.’ She replied.
‘So what’s up?’ Alec asked as they walked into his living room.
‘You’re not even going to let us sit first?’ Yuffie jumped on one of the couches.
‘Kisaragi, why do you hate me so?’ Alec smiled.
‘Because you were always an idiot, and will always be an idiot.’ Yuffie stuck her tongue out at him. ‘I’m not much for idiots.’
Alec only chuckled and shook his head. ‘Would you like a drink?’
‘No thanks.’ Luna smiled as she sat down.
‘So what’s up?’ Alec asked again.
‘Luna, we’d better hurry, I told Cid I’d meet him for lunch.’ Yuffie warned Luna.
‘Yuffie, shut it.’ Luna rolled her eyes. ‘Okay, Alec, remember how you told me about Lady White?’
‘Yep.’ Alec nodded.
‘Well, I think she meant me…’ Luna smiled.
‘Why would you need her help in restoring something immortal? Why would you have anything to do with something immortal?’ Alec chuckled.
‘It’s a really long story, but she’d be able to know if I’m the one she’s supposed to help wont she? Luna reasoned. ‘Just take me to her…’ She begged.
‘Luna, you know… heard of what she does… she trades…’ Alec hesitated.
‘I know but this may be the only way unless you know of someone who can call on the dead to help an immortal man become mortal again or to help a mortal woman to become immortal like the man she loves!’ Luna pleaded.
‘Cloud’s mortal, isn’t he?’ Alec asked in confusion.
‘Yes, but it’s not him…’ Yuffie shook her head. ‘She’s in love with Vincent Valentine.’
‘In love? You… you gave yourself to him?’ Alec smiled.
‘Yes. How do you know?’ Luna winced.
‘Well you never really said you loved Cloud and this is a pretty long way to go about in helping someone, unless you’re THAT involved.’ Alec grinned. ‘I’m happy for you.’
‘I did love Cloud, but not until I knew Vincent’s wishes.’ Luna shrugged. ‘I love Vincent.’
‘Okay, that’s a good enough reason.’ Alec gets up. ‘Shall we go now?’
‘Well I’d like to join you two losers, but I’ve got a lunch with Cid.’ Yuffie jumps up. ‘Catch ya later.’ Kisses Luna’s cheek, slaps Alec’s back and left in a flash.
Alec watched Luna for a while as her eyes followed Yuffie out.
‘What?’ She smiled as she realised he was watching her.
‘Nothing.’ He shrugged.
‘Alec…’ She whined.
‘You’re as beautiful as ever.’ He blushed.
‘Oh,’ She blushed. ‘Um, thank you…’
‘Are you sure this is what you want?’ He asked.
‘What do you mean?’ She held her neck up high.
‘Vincent Valentine. Do you really love him?’
‘Alec, I’m sorry…’ She realised he was still in love with her.
‘As long as you’re happy, I’m content.’ He forced a smile.
‘Aw, Alec… You’re a good friend, you know that?’ She goes to kiss his cheek, but to her surprise, he claimed her lips with his.
No, she didn’t pull away.
‘Did you feel anything then?’ He asked when he pulled away.
‘I’m not going to lie to you. Yes, I felt something. But it’s different.’ She smiled. ‘I love Vincent.’
‘Well.’ He got up and smiled. ‘If that wasn’t going to change your mind, then I guess you’ve found him.’ He offered her his hand and helped her up.
‘Lady White?’ She asked.
He nodded.
‘Where are we?’ She asked as they entered an old brick building just outside of the downtown area.
‘White Palace.’ Alec said as they climbed up a set of swirly steep stairs, him behind her.
‘Doesn’t look much like a palace though does it?’ She said, gazing around the empty place.
‘Wait till you see inside…’ He chuckled.
‘Inside? So this isn’t inside?’ She turned to look at him.
‘Keep walking.’ He turned her around. ‘Inside is upstairs and back down, somehow…’ He tried to explain.
She looked up and suddenly realised that there’s only one door up ahead.
‘I can’t come in with you.’ Alec said as soon as they reached the door. ‘If your means are pure and if Lady White thinks it’s the right path for you, she’ll let you in and maybe help you.’
She turned around to face him once more.
‘Good luck.’ He smiled and kissed her forehead.
‘Thank you.’ She thanked him.
‘If she gives you what you need, this is good bye then.’ He reached for one of her hands and brought it to his lips and gave it a sweet loving kiss.
‘Alec… it doesn’t have to be.’ She held on to his hand.
‘It does. I can’t look at you without wanting more from you. You know that.’ He confessed.
‘If you think it’s best.’ She kissed his cheek. ‘Thank you.’ She thanked him once more before letting him leave.
She watched him climb down the stairs for a minute before turning to the door and entering. Darkness welcomed her.
She stepped in slowly, not knowing what’s ahead. A few steps later she heard the door slam behind her, which made the darkness even deeper than it already was.
Suddenly a bright light shone everywhere, blinding her eyes from the sudden change.
She stumbled backwards and covered her eyes with her arm.
She could feel herself being brought down so fast.
An elevator. With a speed so impossible, it almost feels like it wasn’t moving at all, apart from the occasion shakes. She could feel that she’s gone past land and going down and down into the underworld.
It feels like it was never going to stop.
She sat down and eventually fell asleep.
‘Luna Krafte…’ An authoritative female voice called out to her.
She woke to find that she was in a white room with soldiers dressed in white everywhere.
‘This is ridiculous.’ She said to herself.
‘Do I have to call twice for you??’ She heard the voice once more before she felt she was hanging from the ground, floating. She floated across the room, past the white soldiers, still not fully awake. She shook to full wake when she was dumped on the strangely soft ground.
She looked up to see a tall, brooding woman with white skin, raven black hair and piercing grey eyes. She was wearing a huge black cloak, her appearance contrasted the rest of the room.
‘I am Lady White.’ The woman said.
Luna let out a little gasp.
‘You’re the one Alec sent?’ Lady White asked.
‘Yes.’ Luna said, getting on her feet.
Lady White closed her eyes and faced the ceiling.
Luna watched her like this for a moment, until Lady White opened her eyes and looked into Luna’s.
‘Vincent Valentine, is it? The host body of Chaos…’ Lady White hissed.
‘You know, your name really is a misleading thing for your whole persona.’ Luna tried to joke, but got no response from Lady White.
‘Would you like him to start to age again, or would you like to be immortal?’ Lady White asked.
‘What? You’re just going to make me chose without naming your price? I don’t think so.’ Luna said.
‘Don’t make me ask you twice.’ Lady White hissed again.
‘Fine. Age. I want him to be normal again.’ Luna threw her hands up in the air.
‘Vincent Valentine. Twenty Seven years old. Your task is to get Chaos out of his body as it will break him if Chaos stays in there. You have one year.’ Lady White said.
‘But how…’ before Luna could finish her sentence, she found herself in her bedroom. She looked around in confusion. ‘What the fuck just happened?’ And with that her phone rang.
‘Hello?’ She answered.
‘Luna, I need to see you, I’m still at Tifa’s. I… I think something just happened.’ Vincent said and hung up.
He didn’t sound too good.
She jumped out of bed and raced out past Cloud who was sitting in the kitchen.
As she ran to the station, she dialled Yuffie’s number.
‘Yello.’ Yuffie answered.
‘Yuffie. We were at Alec’s yesterday, what happened?’ Luna asked.
‘What kind of mumbo-jumbo have you been taking woman? Alec? I haven’t seen that kid in a long long time…’
‘Yuffie, are you sure?’
‘Don’t be an idiot, of course I’m sure.’
‘Okay.’ Luna hung up.
