Vincent stares at the two inside for a moment longer before turning to lead them out. This Zack did truly seem to dislike Hojo. Nothing about him suggested a anything dangerous. The girl... looks remarkably like Sephiroth. Painfully enough like Lucrecia. Either way, they seem to been left in some room that may well been a secret storage. Discarded experiments of Hojo? There was a third chamber so there may have been someone else.
Zack, “ So, any weapons I can borrow? “
Vincent, “ .... Just stay behind me. “
Zack didn’t seem to be thrilled about that. Not that Vincent cares if they were happy or not. The return to the surface is much easier since the surviving bugs are without leadership. Only a few seem to even try to attack them. They give pause at the entrance, the light still quite bright compared to the halls. Vincent quickly adjusts to see the bodies of the centipede bugs littering the ground. It seems a group made their way to the entrance.
Vincent pulls away one of the men trying to clean up, “ What happened? “
Guard, “ Some of these bugs attacked not long after you went down. We managed to kill them though. “
Vincent nods and lets the man go back to work. Reeve must have assigned some special guards for any surprises. The man, if nothing else, did think ahead. “ Come with me. “ Leading them to the doctor’s office. The two look tired after their trek out. Lucky, they have not much further to go.
The office is a makeshift medical unit capable of being moved. The soft spoken doctor tending to someone who is injured. Cid sitting in a chair, sleeping, with his hand in a strange contraption. Reminded Vincent of a smaller version of a Mako chamber. Must be mending his hand. The pilot might have slept through the battle, too. Smiles faintly watching his friend sleep because, the otherwise foul mouthed man, almost looks innocent.
Darla, “ Oh, you’re back. Are you okay?” Bringing Vincent’s attention back to her.
Vincent, “ These are the survivors. “ Gestures to Zack and Fianna.
Darla has them sit down, “ Why don't you two rest. Its safe now. “
Zack, “ Wow, I wish more doctors were a sexy as you. “ Giving her his best smile till Fianna elbowed him.
Darla blushes almost as red as her hair, “ Th.. thanks. “
Vincent, “ I’ll be back, “ Giving Zack a look to warn him about behaving. He has a feeling the girl will keep him in line.
Feeling a little better, Vincent decides its time to report to Reeve. Reeve not far in a mobile base. Reeve watching over the shoulder of man typing up commands. Seeing Vincent enter, Reeve breaks away.
Reeve, “ Glad you’re safe. How did it go?
Vincent, “ It went well. “ Keeping the answer short
Reeve, “ What do you think of the victims? “
Vincent takes a moment before answering. Carefully, gathering his thoughts, “ I doubt they were responsible for the camera tampering. They seem harmless. “
Reeve, “ We should keep an eye oh them both. As soon as you came out, we began looking those two up. “
Vincent, “ I heard about the attack at the doorway. “
Reeve nods, “ I feared some might surface so had some guards stationed. Good thing, too. Several came out without much warning. That is not what worries me. During the fighting, someone else came out. “ Reeve brings up the picture of what looks like the one technician that died. In the picture, he is clearly alive and running off, “ I heard from the team this man is dead. “
Vincent frowns recalling the third chamber, “ Yes, the real man as cut in two. While I was down there, I saw a third chamber but it was empty. “
Reeve, “ We should question the other two later. “ Brings up what files they can find, We have something on the guy. His name is Zack Fair, soldier first class. One report he went MIA after a mission. If I recall, isn’t this the man Cloud pretended to be? If so, he should be dead. “
Vincent, “ So should Hojo, yet he still plagues us. And the girl? “
Reeve, “ There is nothing, As if she never existed before now. It is not uncommon for Hojo to make misleading reports or make people disappear. We may just need to dig deeper . “ Reeve folds his hands neatly, “ As much as I would hate to do this, we may need to ask Cloud’s involvement. “
Vincent, “ Very well. “ Not quite thrilled about involving Cloud. Vincent understands his need to be here, to make up for sins of his past and to stop whatever Hojo may been plotting. Has Cloud not done enough?
