1/3/11 More Than Words
An angry growl was the last thing the white coerl uttered as a sharp golden claw tore out its throat, not before damage was done. The beast had attacked the duo preemptively, managing to get in a good swipe on Vincent’s companion. And unluckily for Cid, neither of the two had a Heal material, Vincent having only one low-level potion on him.
The Highwind was having a bit of maintenance work done, thus the reason the men were trekking across Wutai using a motorcycle.
“Shit,” Vincent cursed uncharacteristically, immediately going to his downed lover. He quickly administered the weak potion he had, Cid cursing enough for the two of them. His back was now raw, and he had lost a good amount of blood. Vincent was worried, although it didn’t show.
As if reading his mind, Cid reached up from his kneeling position, gently touching his shoulder, and gruffly mumbling “I’ll be okay, Vince.” The dark-haired man wasn’t so sure. Either way, he needed to get the captain help. Using his mako strength, he lifted his injured lover and carried the protesting man to the bike.
Sliding his lover on was a bit of a challenge, but once finished, he quickly jumped on, giving his lover only a moment before speeding off towards Wutai Village as fast as the bike could take them. Cid insisted he wasn’t feeling much pain, but Vincent could feel otherwise from the clenching and unclenching hands wrapped around his waist.
The duo made it to the village quickly, and Vincent called for a healer before getting his lover settled into an inn. Cid would have smiled over the doting the ex-Turk was doing if he wasn’t in so much pain, trying in vain to hide it. The healer showed up rather fast, perhaps having heard they were friends of Yuffie.
After an agonizing amount of time, Vincent was finally allowed back in the room, the healer patting him once on the shoulder before taking his leave. The long-haired man approached his lover on the bed, Cid’s eyes half closed, but looking far better than he had been.
“You don’t need to worry so much,” Cid murmured, patting the space beside him. Vincent took up his offer, allowing himself to be pulled into the other’s arms. He thought how ironic it was that he wasn’t the injured one, yet he was getting the comfort.
Instead of responding with words, he leaned in for a gentle kiss, putting all of his love into it, showing Cid just how much he cared, although he had a sneaking suspicion the other man knew already. He pulled back, and smiled, just a small one, but it was enough to light up Cid’s face.
That alone was worth more than words could say.
