Chapter 30

Crimson and black eyes snapped open and red wings parted as Loz stepped out of the small tent. The muscular Remnant stretched and yawned, blinking in the early morning light. Sin watched carefully as his current Master moved towards him, awaiting any sign of an order and forcefully ignoring the sleeping, slender figure still curled up in his arms. He would not allow himself to be distracted again.

When Loz finally stood in front of the silent slave, he crossed his arms and smirked down as Yazoo gave a sleepy mumble, "Come on, sleeping beauty. Time to get up!"

"G'way," The younger Remnant muttered grumpily. He shifted slightly, raising his arm to cover his eyes against the bright sunlight.

"Hmph, fine then. If you wanna be like that, I'll just have Sin drop your girly ass back into the river." Blue-green eyes snapped open to glare murderously at the grinning man towering over him. Loz gave an amused chuckle before turning and walking away, "Good. Now that you're awake, let's go."

Yazoo contemplated burning holes in the back of his older brother's head with his eyes but changed his mind when he felt Sin begin to rise. He rolled off of the warm lap with an unconscious grace that should have been impossible after the previous night's activities. This fact did not go unnoticed by the collared man or his tenants.

'He can still walk?' Vincent asked with mild surprise.

'I MUST ADMIT THAT EVEN I AM A LITTLE CURIOUS. THE SHINGA-CHI SHOULD AT THE VERY LEAST SHOW SIGNS OF STIFFNESS AFTER LAST NIGHT, NO MATTER WHAT HEALING RATE HIS BODY MAY HAVE.'

Sin remained mentally and physically silent, attempting to keep his own curiousity in tight check. However, as he stood awaiting further instruction, he found himself secretly watching the long-haired Remnant at the edge of his sight. Yazoo seemed to be searching for something, a light blush on his cheeks as he held his coat tightly shut.

Realizing what the slender man was looking for, the winged slave hoped that what he was about to do would not merit punishment since he was acting without orders. He did not remove his gaze from his Master but slowly moved his tail to drop a neatly folded bundle of clothing at the younger Remnant's feet. Sin mentally relaxed when Loz simply laughed as Yazoo quickly snatched up the shirt and pants, "He must have had you pretty out of it if you didn't think of your clothes 'till just now Yazoo. What would you have done if he had left them by the river?"

No reply was given but blue-green eyes continued staring daggers at the older Remnant as the camp was quickly disassembled. Sin was ordered to hide any trace that they had camped there as Yazoo packed the supplies and Loz tore down the tent. A gleam of black metal caught the slave's attention and he glanced at the space behind the collapsed tent.

A wave of shock left Vincent. 'Cloud's Fenrir! They must have found it in the ruins. No wonder they managed to get so far from Midgar so quickly.'

Realizing now that the bike had belonged to the blond he fought earlier, Sin became wary and suspicious. He quickly sorted through what he could access of Vincent's memories, pulling all the information he could find on the large motorcycle. Surprisingly, the gunman gave little resistance even when the slave found the memory of the placements of the tracking chips on Fenrir.

'It's not like I want them following right now either. If they did catch up with us, I don't have the strength to stop you from killing them anymore.' Vincent stated with a strange calmness.

The winged man moved quickly towards the black machine, drawing curious stares from the two silver-haired men. When Fenrir's front end was lifted and a golden-clawed hand reached in towards the engine, Loz dropped the folded tent and shouted, "Stop! Explain yourself Sin!"

The motorcycle was set down quickly but gently and Sin fell to his hands and knees, bowing low towards the spike haired Remnant. The multi-toned voice was quiet and contained a small amount of fear as he spoke, "Forgive us for causing your anger, Master. We submit ourselves for your punishment. We merely wished to finish carrying our our orders and did not think to request your approval first."

Loz gave a confused frown, "What orders?"

"'No one is to follow us or know of our final location.' The Other's memory shows us that there are four trackers on this machine."

Silver eyebrows rose sharply at the new information, "Four! Yazoo and I searched that thing. We only found two! One in the weapon holsters and another in the gauges."

Sin kept his head lowered toward the ground as he responded, "Yes Master. There are also two inside the engine compartment. One is easily removed, the other we must electrocute and cause it to short-circuit."

Loz considered this for a moment before giving a sharp nod, "Fine. If you can do it without breaking the engine then go for it."

"Yes Master."

Yazoo finished packing the last of their supplies and pulled one of the bags onto his back before turning to watch as the slave once again lifted the front end of the heavy motorcycle with one hand. A short moment after the metal covered hand entered the engine compartment, it withdrew, carefully holding a small black chip between two of the claws. Once the hand was clear from the engine, the tracking device was crushed into tiny fragments. As the wind blew away the remains, Sin shifted his grip on the tire and raised Fenrir even higher to get a better angle into the engine.

Yazoo finally found he could not contain his curiosity and attempted to motion a question to his older brother. However, as had been happening in recent days, his brother did not notice or deem it worthwhile to respond to their silent language. Yazoo gave a soft sigh of frustration before asking in a bored tone, "Why doesn't he just open the hood to get to the engine?"

There was no response as the slave finally stopped moving the bike and began to reach in. He froze, however, when Loz's voice filled the otherwise quiet clearing, "I am curious as well Sin. Answer his question."

The winged man remained perfectly still as his words came out with a precise and automatic quality, "The last two tracking devices were placed strategically within this machine, specifically to make it nearly impossible to find them if their placement was unknown. Also, if retrieved at the wrong angle or tampered with improperly, the devices will cause irreparable damage to the engine."

The long haired Remnant nodded his understanding, admittedly impressed with Cloud's precautions with his motorcycle, and Loz bade Sin to continue with his previous actions. The golden appendage once again moved forward cautiously, a single claw pointing into the compartment. For a moment it seemed that nothing was happening, then Yazoo began to notice a charge in the air as crackling electricity appeared around the dark haired slave, the power of Death Gigas brought forth. The random sparks began to gather steadily in the metallic hand before a quick burst left the pointed finger, jumping straight into the engine. 'Now I understand why he held the tire rather than a more stable part of the frame. The rubber kept him from electrocuting the entire motorcycle.'

Sin seemed to study the engine a moment longer before setting Fenrir back onto the ground. He turned back to the two Remnants and bowed his head, "It is finished Master."

"Good. Let's get outta here. If they had those things activated, they could be on us any minute now and we don't need to waste anymore time."

The bike roared to life as Loz revved the engine and Yazoo quickly sat behind him, arms tight around the larger man's waist. A black gloved finger pointed upward, "Follow us from the air, Sin. Make sure we don't have any unwanted guests tagging along."

The dark haired man nodded once before taking flight. Turning southward, he scouted for several miles, scanning the forests until he reached the shoreline. Dark crimson peered across the deep blue waters in the direction of Edge and Midgar. His enhanced vision could make out the mainland shore but he saw no activity aside from the boats ferrying people over from Kalm and Midgar to the port nearby, close to the Bone Village. Satisfied that none had followed, he turned towards the tug he felt in his mind, the collar indicating where the bracer was currently located. The steady sea breeze made it easy for the winged man to catch up to the Remnants.

The next few hours passed uneventfully as the trio kept a fast pace towards their final destination. The motorcycle finally slowed as they came to the mountains just south of Icicle Inn. Sin dove down towards the rocky, snow covered terrain, pulling up short to land next to Fenrir. Loz silently pointed towards a dark section, shadowed by a large overhanging section of stone, and began to push the motorcycle into the cave entrance. As they cleared the overhang, jade eyes brightened with eager delight. Yazoo glanced once towards his older brother and a small shudder ran through him at the madness in those eyes. They traveled further into the darkness, turning into several tunnels before a soft green glow appeared ahead of them. Loz gave a grin as they entered the large cavern, a pool of Mako in it's center, the bright green broken by several black masses floating in the center, "Home sweet home. Come. Mother is waiting."

Frizz: I am sorry sweetie. For some reason I have had a hard time getting these last couple of chapters out. (Part of it might be because my internet is being pissy.) Thankfully we are getting to the parts that I have been waiting to write since I started this story. Soon I should be posting as quickly as I did before.

further asserting your claim to the thrown with this one. Love that Vincent finally gave in and kissed Yazoo himself. man, I hate sephiroth. Something tells me the next few days aren't going to be fun for our gunman. *sigh* well, guess I'll have to hang around and see! lol
Frizz: Oh yes there are hard times in store for both Vinny and Yazoo. I had to give them that moment of tenderness just to make up for it.

Frizz: Thank you so much! I am glad that I have written something that you find unique. Sin is definitely an interesting one to work with. Funny thing is that I didn't even have him in mind when I started this but for some reason he just developed as I wrote this.
