Chp 4

Chapter 4

Zackery notifies Yuffie of the problem over a secure PHS. She is quite upset to hear the news. He tells her they plan to sneak in and get the body back. She is skeptical about this and tells them who to contact for help.

Later, they meet one of the spies Yuffie had set up in New Midgar. The spy gives them a layout of both New Midgar and a map of Tylunar headquarters. They are also supplied some passes that would bring them into the first level of the headquarters. By the third day, they are ready to enter the headquarters.

They wait till nightfall to make their approach. Once inside, each one goes off on their own. Zackery waits till he sees one of the guards alone. After a brief tussle, Zackery changes his clothes with the unconscious guard. He begins to go up to the science levels. The headquarters has ninty-five levels. Science related projects are held between floors forty-five to sixty. That meant Cloud could be on one of fifteen levels. He carefully goes up each level till he comes to level forty-five. There he meets up with Madnol, who also stole a guard’s uniform.

Zackery, “Nice outfit. . . . You must have the same tailor as myself.”

Madnol, “Must be.”

A scientist walks up to them, “Excuse me, but I need you both to move aside.”

It takes them a moment to recognize her. Chancey has her braid in a bun and looks very fine in the science coat.

Madnol, “Whoa, you look nice!”

Chancey, “Lets find a computer and look it up.”

They find an unoccupied computer terminal. Chancey starts looking up some hints to Cloud’s location.

Chancey, “Damn, they have it buried deep.”

Zackery, “Just getting a floor location would be nice.”

Chancey, “I got it! They have this body on the Fifty-third floor, room 54a9.”

Madnol, “Each floor is divided into a section. . . . God, it is disgusting!”

Chancey, “High level security. We better enter via the vent.”

Zackery, “I am not surprised. We better get going. Meet you all near 54a4’s vent.”

They all meet at the vent near room 54a4. Chancey goes in first, followed by Madnol, and then Zackery. After a few wrong turns, they eventually find the opening to the right room. They halt at the vent door to listen to the conversation in the door. Inside is another Turk and the current president of Tylunar. President Gujarono is much older than the Turk, with thin, gray hair and gray eyes. He is dressed in a fine business suit. The Turk had long black hair peppered with gray. They stand next to a huge cylinder that glowed with energy.

Gujarono, “How are the test going, Kain?”

Kain, “The fusion of energy has increased the activity of the Jenova cells.”

Gujarono, “It is hard to imagine the sample is so alive.”

Kain, “Sir, you underestimate the dangers of Jenova cells. I suggest we destroy
Cloud and all the samples we took.”

Gujarono, “Stop whining. I want those samples injected into a first test subject.”

Kain, “Very well.” Has a scientist come in and take some vials out of the room.

Gujarono, “I have other matters to attend to. I want to be notified on the test results at once.”

The president leaves the room. Kain stares into the cylinder for a few minutes. He then looks at the vent briefly. Zackery could almost swear the Turk was looking right at him, but Kain only walks out of the room. They wait another minute before creeping out of the vent. Madnol keeps an ear out for footsteps and Chancey looks over the equipment. Zackery walks over to the cylinder. Inside, floating in energy, was Cloud Strife. Zackery put his hand against the cylinder. To his surprise, Cloud’s hand moves over his. Zackery jumps back from the cylinder.

Chancey, “Where is the damn lock mechanism?” Notices Zackery jump, “What is wron?”

Chancey, “ Did the body move?”

Zackery, “Ye ye yee yes!”

Madnol, “Will you two hurry up! I hear footsteps.”

Zackery stands next to the cylinder. Cloud’s eyes slowly open for the first time in forty years. Zackery can hear hiispeisper “free me.”

Zackery, “He is alive. . . . . he is still alive. . . . “

Chancey, “Got it!”

The glass door on the side slides open. Cloud’s body tumbles out onto the floor. Zackery helps him to his feet. Chancey is surprised to see Cloud moving. Till now, she thought Zackery was joking. Madnol is also in shock. He was raised to believe the dead stayed dead.

Cloud, “Who are you?”

Zackery, “I am Zackery, your grandson. My father was Brian.”

Cloud, “Was?”

Zackery, “He died in a fire.”

Cloud stands there looking around the room, his naked body oblivious to the cold. His skin no longer has the purple tint. Zackery noticed that have a strange purple tinge.

Cloud whipsers, “It has been so long. . . . “

Zackery, “That is Madnol and that is Chancey.”

Chancey starts blushing after noticing Cloud is naked.

Chancey, “I better get him some clothes. . . “ and starts looking for something for Cloud to wear. Happy for the excuse to not look at Cloud.

Cloud, “Is Madnol related to Cid Highwind?”

Madnol, who snaps ou his his shock, “Yeah, he was my grandfather. Guys, I mean it! Please hurry up. . . .”

Cloud, “You look like a young version of Cid. . . “ Puts a hand to his forehead and sways a bit.

Zackery, “Steady there, dude.”

Cloud steadies himself, “I am fine.”

Zackery notices Cloud’s eyes were turning more purple.

Madnol, “Someone is about to enter the room.”

The door opens. Standing in the doorway is a scientist. Small man who probably never lifted anything really heavy in his life. He walks into the room and spots Madnol right off.

Scientist, “Excuse me, but you’re not suppose to be here! And I don’t know you, Lady. What section do you belong to?” He is standing next to Cloud before he notices him, “ Hey, your the. . “

Cloud grabs the man’s throat and a snap can be heard. He crushed the man’s neck with frighting ease. Cloud drops the man on the floor and takes his clothes.

Chancey, “Oh, my. . . . . “

Cloud, who’s eyes were now Mako purple, “I must go now. . . “

Zackery, “Hey, you can’t just walk on out of here!”

Madnol whispers to Chancey, “This guy is giving me the creeps.”

Cloud strolls out of the room. They stand there in some disbelief before following. They walk out to see Cloud walking around the corner and leaving another body on the floor.

Madnol, “Shit! This is bad, very bad. . . .”

They try to follow but are stopped by Kain, who is accompanied by two specialized guards.

Kain, “What have you done? Never mind, I will question you later. Capture these intruders.”

Kain hurries off in Cloud’s direction. The two guards fight them. The guards prove to be very hard to fight, but they are beaten. They continue their chase, leaving the guards unconscious on the ground. The fellow guards at this point don’t know they are intruders and pay no attention to them. Zackery asks one where they are going.

Guard, “We were told some experiment escaped and has some killed people.”

Zackery, “What?”

Guard, “Yeah and then we lost it.”

The guard’s radio goes off, states some person just attacked a tour group on floor thirty-five. The three follow the guards down the elevator to the floor. The guards split up. Most of them going in Cloud’s last location. The others had the job of securing the floor. They come across the tour group. Some of them had their guts ripped out. They continued down the hall till they see Cloud by a broken window. His hands still covered with fresh blood. Several guards have surrounded him, but he looks over them without a care. Cloud’s eyes met Zackery’s. He feels some message pass between them. He suddenly knows why Cloud hasn’t left. Cloud is waiting for him. He feels drawn to this strange person, who stands covered with the blood of innocents.

Cloud, < Come with me. >

Zackery, “No. . . .”

Cloud then turns and leaps from the window. The people rush over to the broken window. Zackery finds himself pressed against one of the unbroken windows. He can see Cloud’s body float down to ground level. Cloud then takes off with some ground floor guards giving chase.

Chancey, “Oh Darn! “

Madnol, “Shit, Zackery, you have some freaky relatives.”

Chancey, “Zackery, are you alright?”

Zackery, “Yeah. . . “

They hear a familiar voice behind them, “This is not good.”
Kain is standing next to them.

Kain, “You three better leave now.”

Zackery, “Your not going to try to capture us?”

Kain snorts, “No, but my fellow Turks might. I must go make a report. I am sure we will meet again.”
