Author’s Note:

Okay, I know it’s been a while. L

Essentially, my computer died for the last three weeks of sophomore year, and writing fan fiction on school computers wasn’t exactly the first thing I had on my mind, especially when surrounded by people.

Sooo…new computer, and I’m back with Chapter Four!

This is the part where I reply to all the reviews/comments I’ve gotten since you people all rule, muchly. Thanks for all the positive feedback.

In re Cloud/Tifa relationship: It sort of comes from my interpretation of the game, and the whole scene with the two of them at the end of disc two/beginning of disc three. So, in my fiction, I felt the need to explain why/how Cloud became single again.

I promise, no more Tifa ruining my nice Cloud/Aeris fiction. ;-)

And with no further ado, chapter four. Square owns, I don’t, but I wish I did very much.

--------------------

All that she could really do at the moment was whimper. Damned dreams, always seeming so real. She’d had this one more times than she’d cared to count; not that she especially minded. It was one of her favorites.

A gasp escaped her lips as she reclined back in the gondola, traveling around and through the entertainment complex. Her companion rose from his seat across from her, crossed the small cap between them, and dropped his mouth to hers for what seemed an eternal moment.

Her subconscious fought to remind her that this was a dream, but the rest of her really didn’t give a damn at all. She wanted this to continue, no, needed it to continue. Kisses trailed down her jaw line to her neck, where she felt him bite down gently and eagerly lick the incredibly sensitive skin there. More whimpers escaped her. She had dreamed of this moment so many times that she figured she had the sensations down perfectly.

Somehow, she had the presence of mind to pull her dress up to her knees, winking at the boy who was very nearly making her pass out. Almost as if on cue, his hand landed softly on her knee and began to creep its way up.

She decided that she was going to enjoy the look on her lover’s face very much indeed when he realized that the innocent flower girl he was a bodyguard for wasn’t wearing anything underneath her dress.

Unfortunately, just before she could get that particular satisfaction, the alarm went off.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Aeris Gainsborough awoke with a start in the Phantasm Suite of the Gold Saucer’s Ghost Hotel. It was perhaps the most luxurious and ornate room in the entire hotel, but the beauty and utility was lost on the flower girl as she turned the alarm off.
“I swear,” she mumbled, adjusting her nightgown as she rolled out of bed. “my mind enjoys tormenting me.”
Ever since her miraculous and mysterious return to the world of the living, she’d been having the same dreams. Sure, sometimes the settings were different, but the result was always the same. Cloud. Hers. And most maddeningly, waking up before anything REALLY fun could happen.
She slowly stood, bare feet sinking into the thick carpet as she headed for the bathroom to prepare for what would be a very busy day.
An evil smile came to her face as she looked across the room at the clock. 2:30 PM. Wow, she HAD slept quite late. She had but three hours now to prepare, to make everything perfect.
A shower would be first. Then she would dress in her finest and leave so that the maids would leave the room spotless for her eventual return.
Then would be dinner.
And then, last but not least, would be taking her dinner companion back to this room and forever corrupting the concept of a hotel for him.
Finally, she had the chance to do something about those unspeakable dreams.
Aeris smiled as she turned the water on.
“Attention, Cloud Strife,” a voice boomed over the loudspeaker. “We are about to begin our descent. Please return to a seat and fasten your seatbelt.”
The mercenary couldn’t quite recall having felt this nice in a very long time. The shower on the plane was far superior to his back home, and for whatever reason, Reeve had left a suit on the plane for him to change into.
Of course, it was exactly Cloud’s size.
“Something’s up,” he said to no one in particular, adjusting the cuffs of the suit. To Cloud, the day had been quite odd indeed. The amount of Gil that he had been offered, the fact that this plane seemed like it had been prepared even before Cloud had agreed…it was all odd, and more than slightly unnerving.
All things considered though, if worse came to worse Cloud was ready. He had his weaponry and his armor, both battle tested and true.
Cloud tugged at the collar of the starched white shirt that he wore, fidgeting uncomfortably as he sat down and snapped the seatbelt closed. Suits and Cloud Strife were not things that one usually associated in the same thought, but if his new client wanted him to wear one, he would. After all, she was the one with over one million Gil, not him.
His mind spun as the jet began its descent to Earth. There were many, many uses he could come up with for that much money. Provided, of course, he survived whatever the hell this mission would be. One million Gil was not chicken feed, no matter how often many Midgarian millionaires threw that sum around like a child would drop a 10 gil coin into a vending machine
The mercenary’s body swayed slightly as the plane finally returned to terra firma, bouncing a bit before smoothly landing on an airstrip just outside of North Corel. Cloud looked out the window, taking in the familiar, barren landscape. He stood, undoing the seatbelt as the plane came to a stop, and gathered his things.
From here, the journey was quite familiar. Cloud had spent more time in the Gold Saucer than most people ever would. The 30,000 or so Gil for a lifetime pass had been money well spent. He was known as a Chocobo breeder and racer, and for his exploits in the Battle Arena. To the Gold Saucer, he was a celebrity in a sense far beyond his role in saving the world.
Despite this, somehow, he thought he’d never return. He’d ignored the comp offers from Dio that he got practically every week. Somehow, he’d felt the need to stay away from the place after the world had been saved. Too many…memories.
He shook his head. He’d have to avoid Round Square when he arrived.
~~~~~~~

Even in the cable car which carried thousands upon thousands of tourists every day, Squall could still hear the cheery, addicting music that the Gold Saucer blasted. It was such a saccharine tune, and yet, it was nigh-impossible to purge from one’s mind.

The sun had already gone down despite the early hour. He preferred coming to the saucer at night due to the breathtaking views. Gold Saucer radiated light for miles, and the structure could be considered the biggest light show on the Planet. Amusement rides flashed on and off as chocobo racers tore down various tracks.

Dio might not have been the brightest bulb in the world, but the Gold Saucer was a work of genius. A haven for teenagers and adults, it was one of the most widely recognized buildings on Planet. Tourists came from as far away as Wutai.

Most came for pleasure. Cloud was the rare soul who came for business.

After what seemed like an eternity, but was probably only two minutes, the cable car came to a stop at its destination, and Cloud stepped out into the delirious joy that was the Gold Saucer.

All around, happy people frolicked. Balloons and merriment were everywhere. This all stood in stark contrast to Cloud’s emotionless visage. Wordlessly, he showed his ticket to the attendant and entered the Saucer, the music only increasing in volume.

It was quite possibly the most annoying thing ever.

“Want me to read your fortune?”

Cloud blinked once. Twice. And then looked down and saw something that forced him to amend his thought.

Compared to what he saw, the Gold Saucer music was a firm second.

“Reeve, why are you fucking with me with the stupid cat again?”

The stuffed mog and cat combination known only as Cait Sith stood in the middle of the goddamned central area of the Saucer. Much to Strife’s annoyance, it spoke again.

“Because, I want to read your fortune,” it said, nodding. “Besides, I forgot to tell you the name of the Square you’re supposed to go to.”

“Can’t we skip the former,” Cloud asked, a dubious expression on his face.

“Nope” was Sith’s short reply. The mog began to shake, moving back and forth as it usually did when it prepared to spit out a fortune. Finally, it finished. Reading over the small piece of paper, Cloud was surprised to note a happy tone in Cait’s voice.

“Oh, wow,” it said. “You’re not gonna believe this one.”

“Try me,” Cloud retorted.

“Alright then, smart guy. ‘The love of your life will be met this evening. Passion shall explode from within you both, consuming you with the unquenchable fire of desire.’ Say, that sounded REALLY cool! Oh, and it’s Adult Square that you need to go to.”

Cait added the last bit as he saw Cloud walking off, clearly in no mood to entertain fortunes.

Un-fortunately, (yes, I know, I should be shot for that…) however, something sort of important was tugging at the back of Strife’s mind.

Cait Sith’s predictions, to date, had been spot on.

In Ecstasy, Aeris Gainsborough waited impatiently, eyes focused on the watch she wore around her wrist. 5:20. He should be here any minute, she realized. Her attire was immaculate, a beautiful pink silk dress that clung tightly to her figure. A pair of white high heels completed the part of the outfit that Cloud would be able to see, but it was what she wore underneath that had her in a momentary near-giggle fit.

Her hair lay down, cascading around her shoulders like a halo. She knew that she was attractive, if only from the looks she was getting from various waiters on their appointed rounds.

Her heart belonged to one man, however.

And soon enough, his entire being would belong to her.

END CHAPTER FOUR.

They meet next chappie. I promise.

Thanks for all the reviews, keep them coming. :-) With summer here, I have more time to work on this now~!
