Eighth Heaven Bar
Midgar, Commercial District
8 AM

She knew it had ended when she finally awoke to the sounds of chirping birds. Around her chest was Cloud's sleek and powerful arm. She smiled lightly, he must've made her pass out from the intensity of the orgasm. Hugging his arm closer to her chest, she felt somehow complete now that they'd made love to each other.

A gentle smile spread across her face as he bent over and kissed her on the cheek.

“Good morning, sleepy-head.” She said sweetly as she rolled over to gaze into his eyes. The moment she connected with his, she knew something in him had changed last night.

“Hi,” Cloud replied with a huge smile. He kissed her on the lips this time and pulled back to make sure he wasn't dreaming.

She sighed in contentment and pulled him close, “Sorry I passed out on you.”

His chest rumbled against hers as he chuckled quietly, “It's okay, Tifa. I didn't know I was doing that good.”

She giggled lightly and took in the feeling of his warm chest against hers. She sighed. 'It's so perfect... like it was destiny.' The heat of his warm body spread across into hers and she felt like she could once again fall to sleep in the comfort of her companion.

He slowly stroked her hair and sighed, “We're going to have to get up sometime or Barret's going to get suspicious. You know me and my training regiment.”

She stuck her tongue out at him and said, “You and your training.”

“Can't help it. I have to be in top form to use that sword of mine.”

As a sort-of afterthought, she asked Cloud as he was close and naked to her, “Why do you use that sword?”

“Huh?” His voice filled with confusion. “I've always used it.”

She shrugged, “I just thought that with the better ones you picked up while we were fighting Sephiroth you'd have given that one away.”

He frowned, “Oh, you mean that way,” sighing heavily, he explained, “I have to honor Zack somehow. It... it was a promise we made back when we were in soldier. That if one of us ever found the other's sword without the owner, to know that the other was dead and that the sword be buried in the other's town.”

She looked deep into his eyes, “You guys made that kind of deal?”

Nodding, he added, “Yeah, it was life or death back then. In those wars... it was sometimes difficult to tell the dead bodies apart. They were ... mangled usually.”

Tifa shivered at the thought of it. “So that's why you always carry that thing around.”

He nodded, “It's either I carry it or I chance having to risk breaking Zack's heart.”

'I learned another of his dark secrets today. Poor guy,' she thought to herself as she pulled him closer to her so that their skin was flush, 'I wish he hadn't had to have gone through all that---but then he wouldn't be 'Cloud' then, would he?'

“Tifa?”

Her hazel eyes drifted up to his lazily, “Yeah?”

“Are you sure you want to do this---be so close to me?”

She huffed and stared into his eyes with steel resolve, “Now listen you, I don't want your guilt getting in the way of us. I love you, Cloud, and that means I'll always be this close to you. If you don't like it, I'd like to know why right now.”

His eyes drifted away from hers, looking slightly hurt, and she instantly regretted saying that to him when he was so vulnerable. He stared at the pillow his head was resting on and said, “But I want to keep you safe...”

“Look at me Cloud.” Tifa commanded sternly.

His eyes further buried into the pillow and his head wanted to follow.

“Look at me.” She said again, this time with a bit of anger in her voice.

Again, he didn't move.

“Now listen here Cloud,” she said hushedly as she grabbed his jaw and wrenched his head towards hers, “I made a *promise* damn it. I will not leave your side until we're both dead and buried, okay?”

He still refused to look at her. Hurt a little by his demeanor she pleaded, “Cloud, please look at me?”

Cautiously, Cloud brought his eyes to hers and his head sank back a little into the pillow in fear. Her heart melted a bit, “Hey---don't take it that way, Cloud. Please, honey, I'm just trying to help you understand. Look,” she said quietly as she grabbed his head and brought it to her's for a brief kiss, “I love you and I'm not going to leave you. That's all there is to it, okay?”

Cloud nodded with a sigh and brought her, again, close to his body where he held her tightly. She could feel the deep scars of pain Aerith had left on his soul when she had died. It was like the weight of a thousand chains had descended into his heart and kept trying, every day, to drag him down into a deep and dark place from where there would be no return.

She promised to herself as he held her tightly, never wanting to let go, that she would do everything in her power to help him become the man he used to be before Sephiroth. The whole battle between AVALANCHE and Sephiroth across the plains of Gaia had left deep wounds on much of the group but Cloud was the one who it had struck the deepest.

Tifa knew, in her heart, that there was nothing anyone could ever do to make up for the war or heal his scars back to nothing. They were a part of him now, part of his character and personality, and no one, not even Aerith, could heal the deep scars that he carried.

But still, she wanted to try. Glancing at the clock by the bedstand she sighed lightly and said, “Sorry hon, but we need to get dressed. It's eight thirty already.”

He nodded with a sigh and reluctantly let go of her. As her body left his, she felt a n immediate desire to fall back onto his hard chest. She blushed slightly, was she already in that deep of love with him now that they had allowed themselves to be?

Feeling a slight draft between her legs, she remembered he had taken off his panties last night. “Uhm—Cloud?” She asked with a slight blush on her face.

“Hm?” He asked, busy tying the shoelaces on his boots.

“You uhm—you took my panties off last night so...”

He chuckled to himself and pointed to the nightstand, where all her undergarments where folded and prepared for the day. She looked back in surprise at him and asked, “You cleaned them?”

He shrugged. “I had some time to spare before the laundromat closed down so I thought I'd wash them for you.”

'A gentleman, I guess, even though he was an ex-SOLDIER asshole for the time I knew him. Guess appearances can be deceiving down to the core.'

By the time she had put on her panties and skirt, he had already finished dressing. As she hummed brightly to herself, she felt his hands wrap around her waist and something hard press against her butt.

She giggled to herself, “You're *still* horny?”

“Two months, remember?”

She turned around and inspected the situation with a grin. Down in his pants a tent had formed and threatened to rip through the seams to get to her. She slid down his body sexily, unbuckled his pants and pushed him onto the bed with a sexy smile.

Grabbing the meat inside, and both aroused and amused at his lack of underwear, she looked up to him and said, “Well, we'll just have to keep fixing this problem until it goes away, wont we?”

With that, she descended upon him with her mouth.

“So, you two finally woke up?” Barret called from behind the bar in the stockroom.

“Yeah, we were kinda wasted last night,” Cloud lied.

“Heh, you didn't look too wasted to me. Hell, I would've offered you drinks if you weren't so needin' of your rooms!”

“What are you doing back there, anyway, Barret?” Tifa called out to the cracked open door. “Looking through your porn stash?” She gigled to herself as something inside slipped and broke.

“Shit, Tifa!” Barret yelled as he came through the door, “I don't have a 'porn stash' around here! What's margie think?”

Tifa winked, “Doesn't mean that you aren't hiding one from us!”

Cloud laughed and shook his head, “You two were always like this from the moment I met you. Anyway,” he sat down at the bar, “What's on the menu today?”

Barret smirked and said, “Eggs, eggs, eggs, and oh yeah... Eggs.”

Tifa nudged Barret playfully in the ribs and said, “It's all he knows how to cook.”

“Hey! I'm workin' on it!” Barret argued.

Tifa shook her head, “Uh-huh, right. Get back to me on that one when you have something for me to taste.”

Barret furrowed his brows and then laughed, “Shit Tif', you always were a hard-ass on me when it came to my cooking, weren't ya?”

She shrugged with a grin, “I'll have an order of eggs, a drink of eggs, and oh yeah, some eggs.”

Barret smirked, “Alright wise-ass, that's what you'll get then.”

Cloud shrugged, “Whatever's quick and easy but filling.”

Barret nodded and muttered, “Eggs,” as he wrote down the two orders on his pad.

Tifa giggled, “Barret? Why in the hells are you writing on a pad our orders when there's nobody else here?”

Barret stopped scribbling notes down for a moment and sighed, “Guess I do it too much. Anyway,” he stopped to read off his inventory list and nodded, “I can do something a little different for you two today; I just got a shipment of Island Spice the other night and so I just am bursting with ingrediants.”

“Great,” Cloud joked, “so we don't *have* to order eggs?”

Barret huffed, “Dammit, eggs is all I got. If you want somethin' better to eat, go down to the Lucky Boat and grab somethin' there!”

Cloud put up his arms, “Okay, I surrender. Besides, we gotta pay for our rooms some how, right?”

Barret smirked, “Damn right you do! Alright, I'll be back with those eggs in about five minutes.”

Cloud looked up to the TV and blinked. Nudging over to Tifa he asked, “Isn't that Vincent?”

The purple and red cape flowed through the streets in what looked to be a police chase. The person he was after was running straight towards the commercial district. In fact, it looked like in about twenty seconds they were going to have another customer to the Eighth Heaven.

Cracking his knuckles, Cloud looked over to Tifa and asked, “You feel like whoopin' some ass this early in the morning?”

She grinned evilly, “Sure do, let's prepare some 'eggs'cellent surprises for our guest. Hey Barret!”

Barret yelled from the kitchen, “It aint done yet!”

Shaking her head, Tifa yelled, “We're not too concerned about that right now. How many eggs do you have in there?”

Barret shrugged in the kitchen over the sizzling pan filled with eggs and spices, “Don't know, they over-shipped the damned things this time. I got a whole crate here that's about to go bad.”

“Great! Thanks!” Tifa yelled.

Barret paused for a moment and then yelled back, “What in the hells do you need that many eggs for anyway?”

No response came back through the doors and so he sighed and looked over to the crate. Then he realized it was missing. He blinked twice, then heard sirens in the distance and gunshots.

Shaking his head, he cursed, “Fuckin' early mornings. I knew I hated them for a reason.”
