Chapter Three Lost
Vincent looked from the tent. How many days had passed? Cloud was not back yet.
He turned away from the rest of the group. They expected him to guide? Why would they ever think that he would- or could? Barret should have to do this, not him. All he did was avoid them if possible. The only one he was remotely close to was Cloud.
Cloud was missing.
Vincent walked from the tent, then from Bone Village altogether. The Sleeping Forest welcomed him. It seemed to whisper to him, promises of love and dreams. The voices were sad though, terribly sad. They seemed to know of his past, promising repentance and forgiveness.
Right now, he didn't want forgiveness- especially because it would never be his.
Vincent wanted to find Cloud.
He reached the edge of the Forest and looked down into the City of the Ancients. Why had everything gone so wrong? The Temple... it all started then, didn't it? Cloud was manipulated, Aerith left them...
And now Aerith was dead and Cloud was gone.
Vincent thought back to the look on Cloud's face as he told him to go ahead- as if he didn't expect to follow. There was longing and despair intertwined, and now Vincent heavily regretted listening and leaving.
Jenova... had she killed Cloud?
Vincent reached the shrine. He passed the water, heading for a body... a body?!?
"Aerith." he murmured.
Yes, it was her. Vincent bent down to gently lift her into his arms. He carried her to the water's edge, walking in and letting go. He watched sadly as he said goodbye silently, wishing he could do better for her, that time was pressing in on them.
He continued, wet clothes clutching his skin. There was no blood, save Aerith's. So where was Cloud?
Sephiroth.
Vincent's eyes narrowed. The scent of the man was stronger here, where Cloud had last been.
Now he knew what happened.
All he had to do was bring him back.
-T.B.C.-
The chapters will probably alternate more, between Cloud and Sephiroth to Vincent and the party. More Cloud/Seph than Vince, but the real-real plot lies with Vin.
