Chapter 4
Cloud loved the evening free time, He would sit away from the main building enjoying the peace and tranquility. He donned his favorite hoodie and left his barracks.
-------------------------------
Reno ran through the main Shin-Ra building, from the roof he took the back stairs so he wouldn't bump into anyone. His limbs began to burn halfway down, screaming for him to stop, but he kept running. He eventually got to the ground floor and ran into the night. He wanted to be alone, no he didn't, he didn't know what he wanted, he knew he just didn't want to stop running yet. He kept going, he got to a small tree lined area, far from the lights from the complex, a few benches, and no one was around. He stopped, breathing hard, his legs gave way from under him, he didn't care, he sat where he fell and wept.
----------------------------
Cloud was enjoying his walk, the lights were behind him as he headed for his favorite bench, he paused. ~Is that...someone crying?~ he pushed some foliage to one side.
--------------------------------
Reno heard a rustling, he looked up wide eyed, to be greeted by a blond man coming through some bushes.
'Reno?!?...' Cloud said and ran towards the red head where he was slumped.
Reno tensed, an image of Rufus appearing in his mind, he blinked to see the young man had reached him. Blue eyes looking worriedly at him...~the guy from the cafeteria~...'C..Cloud..' he whimpered through chattering teeth.
'Your freezing..' he replied. He swallowed, Reno was a mess. His hair more disheveled than normal, his normally bright eyes had lost their fire and were now just a dull green, what looked like tear stains down one cheek. His jacket and shirt were undone, exposing his smooth chest to the chilly night air, his pants were zipped, but unbuttoned, his legs quivering beneath the thin material. Slowly, Cloud reached forward to close Reno's shirt, but the red head flinched away, causing him to topple from his calves to land on his ass.
'I'm sorry' he said, he edged away, unzipping his hoodie, hissing as the cool night air met his warm skin, he bunched it up and offered it to Reno.
Reno stared forward, blinking, before reaching forward to take the soft garment, he held it to his chest, getting a waft of sweet mountain air as he did.
'What happened?' Reno lowered his eyes. Cloud took a risk and edged forward again, rest a hand on Reno knee. 'You can trust me..' Reno raised his head, his gaze meeting those blue eyes, they seemed to sparkle earlier, now just filled with concern, for him.
'...I.....' he stammered but bit his lip before he finished, his eyes slamming shut, trying to block the images flashing through his mind.
Cloud stretched his hand forth, 'Come, lets get you home and cleaned up, its getting cold'
Reno swallowed, he followed the palm in front of him with his eyes, goose bumps appearing on the pale skin that seemed to glow in the moonlight, the muscles of his upper arms peaking thought the material of his tee-shirt. He raised his eyes further to the sweet face, illuminated by the moonlight, the blond bangs a halo around his head. He slowly clasped the hand, and was pulled swiftly to his feet, his breath catching in his throat as he was drawn face to face with an angel.
Cloud caught his hoodie with his free hand, leaning forward he wrapped it around Reno's shoulder, who shifted and pushed his arms through the sleeves, getting a second waft of mountain air as he did.
'Cloud' he said causing the blond's cheek to flush despite the bitter cold, his hand reached up and stroked Reno's cheek. Reno learned into the touch, it seeming to wash away what Rufus
left behind earlier. He squeezed the hand still holding his own 'This way..' he whispered pulling Cloud towards the Senior Staff apartment block.
