Chp 5

Chapter 5

Morning comes and Art doesn’t show up. Sylvia goes back to Tylunar. Sye wants to help but knows she will be more useful there. They then get ready to find Art and Cloud. The bug Art planned to pin on Cloud is still working. They are not surprised that the beacon is constantly moving. They board Highwind and try to track down the beacon. It moves about in jumps then settled down near some woods. Vincent explains that is where the temple of the Ancients was once located. A group consisting of Vincent, Chancey, Zackery, and Xavier went into the woods. Madnol stays at the airship. The woods are thick and dark. Some weird webbing covered the trees. The further they go in, the thicker the webbing became. They felt as if they were walking into a huge spider’s web. The webbing blocked out more of the light. They saw someone trapped in some webbing ahead. They slowly get closer to the person. They see Art in some weird cocoon and barely cioucious.
Chancey tries to run over to him, but Zackery pulls her back.

Zackery, “This smells of a trap.”

Xavier, “Yeah. . . .”

Art seems to start having trouble breathing. Chancey break loose and runs over to him. She reaches his side, when Cloud abruptly arrives. He separates them from Chancey. Cloud then begins a fight with them. Chancey is trying to get Art to respond. As she pulls at the webbing, some strands come down and wrap her up.

Zackery, “Damn, Chancey is caught.”

Cloud sarcastically, “Yeah, isn’t it a crying shame.”

The fake Art changes to her true form of Jenova. She picks Chancey up and speeds out of the woods. After some inner debate, Cloud lingers to continue his fight. He seems to want to finish the job. Then Zackery does something off the wall.

Zackery, “Will everyone just stop!”

Everyone, including Cloud, stop fighting.

Cloud, “What?”

Zackery, “Why do you want Chancey? Where is Art?”

Cloud, “Hey, I am a villain! I don’t have to answer those questions . . . “

Vincent, “Come on, for old times sake. . . for an old friend?”

Cloud, “Okay, I’ll answer them, but I get to fight you one-on-one Vincent. No one interferes! Okay?”

Vincent, “Okay.”

Cloud looks at them, “Okay?”

They reluctantly agree.

Cloud, “If you peeps break it, I will kill both Art and Chancey.” Relaxes some, “Art is still alive. I put him up for awhile. As to our desires for Chancey? Jenova wants the one who can summon the souls of Ancients. I really don’t give a shit.” Stretches his back and drops his sword, “Okay, get ready to die Vincey.”

Vincent, “First.... where is Art? You still haven’t fully answered.”

Vincent gets ready to morph.

Cloud looks puzzled, “You really care about Ar? All I am going to say is this, Art is somewhere safe. I really have no reason to hurt him”

The others give them room to fight. Vincent goes into his strongest form, while Cloud grows some nasty looking claws and some sharp teeth. They begin their private fight. They are swinging, biting, wrestling, and fighting dirty. Vincent gets a hit in and Cloud would get in several hits. Cloud, of course, is winning the fight.

They have to watch this and not interfere. For a moment, it seems Vincent has Cloud. Then, Cloud twists and turn the tables. Cloud is about to rip into his stomach, some weird noise comes from fur in in the woods. Cloud seems to be just as unsettled by this as the others.

Cloud backs off from Vincent, “We should leave the forest . . . “

Vincent, “Truce?”

Cloud, with some distaste, “Truce, since our duel is about to be interrupted .”

Then some roots come flying at them. Everyone barely dodges them. Cloud has no trouble dodging.

Cloud quickly gets his sword, “You better get out of here. . . I’ll take care of this.”

Vincent, “I’ll stay and help. The rest can leave.”

Zackery, “But we can help.”

The roots retract and shoot at them again. They all barely dodge again, exception of Cloud who dodges with better skill.

Cloud, “You’ll get in my way. Come on, Vincent, the source is up ahead.”

Cloud goes towards what he called the source of the roots.

Vincent looks at them, ”Wait at the airship.”

Vincent goes in after Cloud. They quickly leave the woods. After some wait, they start to worry. Then, they hear some explosions and go back into the woods. They are halfway there, when they see Vincent and Cloud stumble out. Both are in their human forms and both look a bit charred. Neither of them look too good. Vincent has some open wounds. Cloud has a nasty shoulder wound.

Cloud growls, “I am too way nice.”

He tries to form wings, but his shoulder wound prevents him from doing so.

Cloud winces in pain, “Shit!”

Vincent, “I think the sap was poisonous.”

Cloriesries to walk further, “No kidding.”

They hurry over to Vincent, but hang back a bit with Cloud.

Vincent, “We need some assistance.” With that passes out.

Cloud, who is little more stubborn, staggers from them before falling over also.

They fly both men to the closest place, Cosmo Canyon. Nanaki with two of his people hurry on board and examine the two unconscious men. Vincent is given an antidote. Most of the poison was already through Cloud’s system.ey dey decided the cure might hinder his own body’s ability to heal. Vincent wakse up and is able to help decided what to do with Cloud. They know he will never be as willing as Art was to stick around. Vincent decides they need to put him in the coffin again. He will continue to sleep as long as he was in that special box. Cloud is placed inside and the lid is locked.

Zackery, “We need to find Chancey and kill Jenova.”

Madnol, “What happened in the woods?”

Vincent, “Oh, well, we found the huge tree that was attacking us. I think the tree was created by Jenova, a monster called a Trent. Cloud saw one of the roots were about to hit me and pushed me out of the way. That is how he got a shoulder wound. He then really got angry and blew the thing up. Don’t ask me how. . . He just did. On our way out. I asked Cloud why he saved me like that. He said he wanted to be the one to kill me. Cloud also used up alot of energy blowing up that damn tree. That is why he decided to carry out our truce till we got clear of the forest, just encase another one was nearby.”

Vincent weakly shrugs. He still felt tired from the poison.

Zackery, “Good thing Chancey is bugged.”

Madnol, “Damn, I forgot! She is still bugged. So, all we have to do is get some stuff together and hunt her down.”

Xavier, “Where do we keep Cloud? On board the airship, in Tylunar headquarters, or at the canyon?”

Vincent, “Hmm . . Tylunar would be better, but it would take time to get there. We may not have any time to spare.”

They decide to leave Cloud at Cosmo Canyon, under Nanaki’s careful eyes. They fly towards Chancey’s beacon. Then find themselves going to small island in the south. They find neither Chancey, Art, or Jenova at the site. They do find her bug device on the ground.

Vincent, “Damn!”

Zackery, “I got this bad feeling . . .“
