Snowstorms 5
A/N: *peeks head in a gulps nervously* Um, I am sorry for the extra long delay in this piece. I had alot of IRL crap and then my muses decided to throw a fit. I promise, the next chapter is being worked on right away and it should be up fairly soon. Thank you for your patience!
Of Snowstorms and Demons
~Chapter 5
“Fuckin’ hell,” Cid panted, pushing back a few stray blond strands from his forehead. Fighting with a half-mad demon in a freezing cold mansion in the early hours of the morning wearing only his boxers was not his idea of a good night. Though he had to admit, he felt he was holding his own pretty damn well, all things considered. Blue eyes scanned his surroundings warily. ‘For a big guy carryin’ a chainsaw, fucker can be awful quiet.’
A loud curse flew out of him as an all-too familiar mechanical roar came from just behind him. Instinctively the blond rolled forward, feeling an ominous breeze pass over his head as he went. Turning as he regained his footing, he quickly raised Venus Gospel in time to block the chainsaw, the resulting shower of sparks illuminating Hellmasker menacingly. Grunting under the strain, he shoved the demon back, “Look, ya psycho bastard, I don’t wanna fuckin’ play anymore!”
“Cidneeey plaaay.”
“No, ya idiot! CID ain’t fuckin’ playin’. You go right back where ya came from and I’m goin’ ta bed! Or at least to find a new bed since you fuckin‘ decided to destroy mine!”
The masked face tilted to the side, the barely visible blood-red eyes looking at him questioningly, “Cidneeey sleeep?”
‘Hell, he DOES understand what I’m sayin’!’ Cid grinned, “Yep, I’m goin’ to sleep as soon as ya let Vince back out.”
Hellmasker shook his head, “Nooo.” The pilot nearly growled in frustration but froze when the mechanical saw went silent once more and the demon seemed to melt into the shadows, “Cidneeey sleeep nooow.”
A sharp pain flared at the back of Cid’s skull and darkness crept over his vision. He was vaguely aware of a large arm wrapping around his chest before unconsciousness took him.
~
Vincent blinked as he opened his eyes, the light streaming in through the window causing him to groan and shift closer to the warmth behind him. There was a strangely familiar scent in the room, one that made him squirm as his blood stirred. As he attempted to get comfortable, a grumble came from behind him, “You keep doin’ that and yer gonna have ta finish what ya start.”
Scarlet eyes shot open as the raven-haired man bolted upright, a loud crash echoing in the manor as his movements knocked the person behind him off the bed, “Ow! What the fuckin’ hell was that fer?”
Vincent turned, clutching the sheet around his bare torso, “Highwind?!”
Cid blinked blearily, “Vince? Where the hell am I?”
“In MY room and you were in MY bed,” Vincent responded, drawing the covers tighter, “What are you doing here?”
“Hell if I know! Last thing I remember…” His brows furrowed as his sleep-deprived brain attempted to recall just what had happened. ‘I went ta bed late but then I was woken up by-’ Cerulean eyes widened and his hand flew to the back of his head, wincing as he found the large knot at the base of his skull, “Mother fuckin’ Hellmasker!”
The gunman had seen the pilot flinch and, at the mention of the demon’s name, he forgot his need for covering himself and rushed to check the man for injuries, “What happened, Highwind?”
Cid barely registered the fact that he was asked a question, his focus was on the pale, scarred flesh that had always been hidden before. He could understand the gunner’s desire to hide the numerous surgical and battle scars that covered his torso but in his own opinion they only made the slender figure more alluring, each mark a testament to the man’s hidden strength and tremendous will to survive. Cerulean eyes paused a particularly vicious gash, just above Vincent’s heart. ‘Musta been where that son of a bitch shot him.’ Tanned fingers twitched with the urge to caress the pale flesh but a soft touch to the back of his head reminded him of the pain there and he hissed through clenched teeth, “Dammit, Vince! Watch what the hell yer doin’!”
“My apologies, Highwind, but I must assess if you require medical attention.”
“Hell no! I don’t need ta go to a damn doctor. I’m fine, Hellmasker just has an odd way of ending his playtime.”
A dark brow rose in curiosity, “Playtime?”
“Yeah! Did ya know that fucker can TALK?! Not very well but still…” He paused as he remembered the things the demon had said, “Vince? How the hell did he know my first name?”
Vincent blinked in confusion for a moment before it dawned on him what the pilot spoke of. He looked away nervously, “Um, because they know everything I do.”
“Ok, and how do YOU know my first name?”
The raven-haired man sighed, “Yuffie.” Easily sensing the blond’s growing anger, he continued, “I was the first person she found after…retrieving your pilot’s license from your room.”
“That little sneaky-Mmph!” He was silenced by a gloved hand over his mouth and shot a glare at the owner.
“I took it back from her and returned it to your room, after making sure she understood the consequences she would face if she spoke a word without your consent.” Cid studied the gunman for a long moment before nodding.
Sensing the man’s anger beginning to fade, he lowered his hand. Cid’s eyes followed the movement and, before he even realized it, he reached out to catch the gloved appendage, “Highwind?”
Scarlet eyes were met with curious blue, “I wanna know, Vince. What do you think is so terrible about yourself that you would hide it from us, yer friends? I mean we’ve seen the worst of your demons so it can’t be that bad, right?”
Vincent pulled away and walked over to the window, wrapping his arms around himself. “It is,” he whispered.
Cid felt the urge to smack himself, really, how could he make such an ass of himself so easily? Part of him wanted to go comfort the gunman but…if he did…he gave a sigh, finally standing, “I…I’m gonna go, Vince. Ya got enough food now ta last a few weeks and I’m sure ya don’t need my stubborn ass causin’ ya more trouble than you’ve already got.”
Vincent turned slightly, watching the man’s back as he left. ‘I guess it’s for the-’
‘STOP HIM!’
The gunman reeled from the urgency and force in Chaos’ tone. ‘It’s his choice, Chaos. We agreed that we would let him go if he wanted.’
‘He doesn’t want to. Stop him!’ The creature growled. When Vincent continued to hesitate, he pushed forward. ‘Fine, if you won’t, I will!’
The gunman felt his mind being shoved aside, watching as Chaos ran out the door in his body. ‘No! You promised you wouldn’t force him!’
The demon snarled. ‘Do not question my honor, host. I will keep my word and we will do this your way. But I AM going to show you I’m right!'
Cid sighed as he finally got the last of his stuff in the small bag he had brought. He felt torn, so much of him screaming to stay but he knew he couldn’t. Finally he slung the bag over his shoulder and turned to leave the destroyed bedroom, stopping when his eyes met with an intense golden glare, “The hell do you want, Batty?”
“You will answer my questions, human, before you will be allowed to leave here.”
The blond folded his arms over his chest, “What if I don’t wanna?”
A smirk twitched at the pale face, “Then this will be a rather long conversation. You will not step foot outside this mansion until I have the answers I seek.”
Cid snorted, “Bullshit. Vince don’t like ya bein’ out fer long, so ain’t no way yer gonna be able ta keep me here long before he gets back.”
The wide grin that suddenly appeared shook the pilot’s confidence in his statement, “And if I were to tell you the host is wide awake, watching, and in fact wanting to know the answers to these questions himself?”
“Then why the hell ain’t he askin’ himself instead of sendin’ yer ass our here?”
The possessed gunman shrugged, “You humans worry too much over what other people might think about your words. So are we going to do this the easy way or the fun way?”
Cid rolled his eyes, setting the bag aside, “Alright, if I hafta can I make a request? If I’m gonna be talkin’ to ya, at least be in yer real form cuz seeing Vince and hearin’ you is screwin’ with my head.” Also it was difficult talking to someone you were attracted to, even if it wasn’t technically them, when they were only dressed in silky black pants and a glove. At least the demon’s clothes would be covering him.
Chaos held back the urge to chuckle. ‘He doesn’t know, does he?’
‘No clue.’ Vincent thought with a sigh. ‘Go ahead and enlighten him.’
A familiar bright glow surrounded the pale gunman and, as the enveloping light receded, Cid’s eyes widened. Rather than the complicated black outfit accented with reds, the demon’s upper torso remained bare. The scars that had littered Vincent’s slender body were now transformed into dark red markings on the muscular, steel-grey abdomen. The silk pants and glove had also changed, gaining a more fluid-like appearance that swirled and clung to the creature’s body like a second skin.
Watching the human’s eyes roam over his body, Chaos let out a rumbling chuckle, “See something you like, mortal?”
A faint dusting of red spread over the tanned face before Cid stubbornly looked away, “Ya wanted ta ask me somethin’, so ask already, bastard!”
A dark brow rose on the demon’s dark face as he scented the air. ‘Interesting. Do you sense it as well, host?’
Vincent relaxed, allowing himself to take in what the demon had smelled. He blinked curiously with surprise. ‘Does that mean what I think it does?’
Chaos gave an internal chuckle. ‘It seems your dear pilot has taken a liking to this form as well as your own. This is just too good.’ Golden eyes returned their focus to the blond in front of him, “Fine, since you seem in such a hurry. Now, all of us are aware that, for some reason I cannot understand, you hold far less fear for us than most mortals would and do, correct?”
Though Cid still refused to look at him, the pilot smirked, “Don’t really see no reason ta be scared of ya. After all, I trust Vince and that hasn’t gotten me killed yet, right?”
Chaos knew he was getting what he needed as he felt his host’s surprise at the response, “True. We also know that you wish to have your way with the host as well, correct?”
The blue eyes widened and the human finally turned to look at him again, “Uh…I….um-”
Whatever he had been about to say was cut off as the demon stepped closer to him, eyes flashing, “Do not attempt to lie, mortal. I can sense your attraction anytime you’re near him. Last night you wanted nothing more than to ravage him on the floor. Yet, you stopped yourself and pushed him away,” The golden orbs narrowed dangerously as he growled, “Why?”
Cid gulped. He really didn’t want to answer this question now, especially with the most volatile of the gunman’s demons practically on top of him. He tried to take a step back but tripped on the shattered remains of his bed from the night before. Just as he began to fall back, a muscular arm shot out, wrapping around his back but still keeping him off balance. A dark brow rose expectantly, “Well?”
‘Dammit.’ Seeing no other option, Cid gave a huff before looking away from the intense gaze and at the softly falling snow outside, “I…I didn’t want ta take advantage of him.”
‘Finally.’ Chaos thought. He pulled the human upright, allowing him to regain his balance, “Elaborate, human.”
The blond sighed, turning a defeated gaze to the demon, shocking both him and his host with the depth of sadness and loneliness there. ‘He hides it well, doesn’t he?’ Vincent could only watch, though he suspected Chaos knew much of what Cid was going to say already.
“I thought about it on my way back from gettin’ the food last night. Doin’ anythin’ with Vince right now would be like takin’ advantage of someone that’s been drugged. It ain’t right and I respect him too much fer that. I don’t want him ta regret anythin’ if it DOES happen and I sure as hell don’t wanna lose him as a friend just fer somethin’ like that,” The blond shook his head, running a hand tiredly through his hair, “Look, if that’s all ya wanted ta know, can I go now?”
Chaos nodded, stepping aside, watching as the man left.
‘What are you doing?!’ Vincent called out.
‘As I promised. He answered my questions so he is free to go.’
Vincent practically snarled as he pushed his way out. ‘Well you may be done with him but I’m not!’ So focused was he on catching the blond, he did not see the demon grin as he returned to his place within the human’s soul. He would let the host have his time with the human first. He would have his fun later.
