Chapter VI
Reno winced as he heard the crunch of the rifle butt against pale skin. Well there’s another broken set of ribs. The red haired pilot wished he could stop these people not just for the beaten blonde Warrior but for his own sanity.
“What does it matter if you rat them out, eh boy?” the man who represented the devil’s incarnate to Reno, also known as Van-Trouve, spat. “They are monsters. What have they done for you? What benefit do they do you in here? Nothing. That’s what! Nothing!”
‘They’re obviously something to him if he’s taking an open can of whoop-ass without fighting back.’ Reno thought. However that did not make the torture of the First Class Warrior any better. No matter if the taller man had once been an enemy to Reno, the pilot knew who deserved something like this and who didn’t. And Cloud Strife didn’t.
‘Is this what he gets for saving orphans? Is this what he gets for saving the planet more times than the people can count? Is this what he gets for helping the weak?!’ The tiny voice deep inside the ex-Turk’s mind raged. If these were the kind of people in the deep of Shin-Ra then the company be damned.
‘But this can’t be how Shin-Ra is made up. Shin-Ra Inc.’s goal is to help people, not torture information from them. That is the kind of technique from the past generation. And Rufus, even if he was baiting Cloud, that’s all it was. This cannot be his idea. And if it isn’t…then whose is it?’
Emerald eyes squeezed shut as a howl of pain erupted from the afflicted hero. ‘Cloud…’
“Well it looks as if we are almost there fellows; continue.” Van-Trouve replied to the uniformed men who looked to him at the cry.
“KNIGHTs—” The blonde croaked.
Van-Trouve perked up, and watched as one of the torturers slammed the side of the rifle into the Warrior’s temple. “You fool! He’s speaking! Do not strike an obedient dog!”
The room silenced, every party watching intently on the hanging SOLDIER. At last the man took a breath. The owner of steel grey eyes spoke. “What about the night—?”
“No…” blood dripped from cracked lips as eye lids fluttered like the wings of a hummingbird. “They are…”
Reno glared at the black clad figures surrounding the boy. He could barely hear the words, but the red haired pilot had a feeling that what Cloud was going to say was not going to feel too good on his mind. Suddenly the door to the room burst open. Emerald eyes widened as a familiar braided SOLDIER held the room at the end of the barrel of his gattling gun. A plethora of other familiar faces stood behind a white clad figure, aiming into the room.
“I demand that you stop this immediately,” the normally cool sophisticated tones of the business man were heated and enraged. Rufus Shinra was not a happy camper. “Grandfather.”
That one last word made Reno’s eyes bug. This old fart was his boss’ gramps?! What The Fuck?!
Duo, keeping his gun trained on the uniformed men in the room beside the blonde SOLDIER, crept towards his red haired superior. Reno shot the brunet a thankful smile as the chains and cuffs came off. However the room fell silent as the bleeding blue eyed prisoner struggled to talk, the commotion in the area having not stopped the line of thought his lips were trying to form.
“They are…a clan…ancient…older than the Cetra…” a shuddering breath left the battered chest that was bleeding profusely. “The KNIGHTs…”
Everyone waited with bated breath.
“…My mother’s kinsmen.”
Reno felt as if he couldn’t breathe. This? They had tortured him for this? These people had nearly killed the blue eyed SOLDIER for information that he kept because they were his family. His family. How could they?
And suddenly it made sense. The silver mounts on the armor, his earrings…they were wolf heads. The way the man had gently caressed the dead creature. That wolf had been one of his family. That was why he had asked if Reno had noticed the girl.
Shame. He could feel it all around him. Everyone who had witnessed the desecration of Cloud’s secrets and the reason for them was ashamed of having been there.

‘Where they hell could he be?’ She nearly growled out loud. She was loosing her cool. That wasn’t good. The pressure of desperation was like lead on her shoulders as she ran down the halls wishing that she could find anything; a noise, a whim, scent… ‘Anything!’
She stopped suddenly. “Calm down girl. He is alright. And if he is not…god help these people.”
Please
Finely tipped ears twitched. It was faint but her exceptional hearing caught it. Closing her eyes she allowed the eyes of the beast guide her towards her task. Crouching by a corner, the black clad woman peered around and into the dark hallway. ‘Hn. Only ten or fifteen of them…not so hard. Remember: in and out, urufu naito.’
Using instinctive skills, the owner of winter eyes lashed out with a clawed hand landing on the back of one black clad neck, and with the flick of a wrist, the grown man was tossed to the side and into a wall; effectively splattering his brains on the wall. The click of guns told her that they were now alerted of her presence. Dismissing the fact, she shot forward into the fray of dark Uniforms and their rifles.
She growled as a bullet grazed over her shoulder, near her neck. Turning, ice eyes flashing something deadly, she struck the offending Uniform in his chest. He turned and threw up blood on another behind him. She delivered a roundhouse kick to a helmeted head, thrust her hand into a shoulder, and bit a chunk from a nearby arm. Hooking dainty claws into the underside of a jaw, she threw the unlucky man into a metal door, blood bursting from his skin from the velocity of the impact.
Taking a good look at her handy work she left the colorful site, an insane lift to the corner of her mouth. The dark array of colors on the outside of her vision was the distinction of her power marking the way to the one at the end of her passage.
