Chapter 5: Inferno

Hospital, 10 minutes before Cloud arrived, Outside Tifa’s room.

Normal POV

Vincent and Red were outside Tifa’s room talking to Reno and Rude about the security detail everyone needed to perform, and getting an update on everyone’s position. After they let Rude and Reno return to their post’s Vincent turned and said,” Barrett says that he has Cloud and they are on their way here, but they are worried abou-.” He stopped and turned to the noise that he heard coming from inside Tifa’s room. They drew their guns and burst into her room to find, nothing. The room was completely empty and Tifa was gone. Her monitors were shut off and iv was pulled out.
“Shit!” They exclaim as they turned and ran out of the room. Vincent ran left and Red ran right, each hoping to catch sight of her. Vincent sent out the alert that she was out of bed hoping that if they couldn’t find her then maybe a nurse or one of the others would find her. As they rounded the corner and out of sight, a shadow slipped into Tifa’s room.
“Here Kitty Kitty, come out come out where ever you are.” Sephiroth taunts. “Come out and play. I want to know if I can get tears from a Cloud.” He laughs at his little pun while tearing the room apart. Not finding her, he turns to go check the next room when he hears…
“Play this Asshole!”
He tries to raise his sword as Tifa jump kicks him in the chin and knocks him into the bed. He flips over the bed as the door slams shut.
Tifa turns to run, holding her side when the floor starts to tremble. She takes three steps just as Vincent and Red turn the corner at a run; she reached her hand out to them as the floor gives away. As she feels herself start to plummet, teeth clamp onto her wrist. She looks up to see Red holding her wrist and Vincent holding his haunches. Ignoring the pain grabs onto the floor with her other hand and starts to help pull herself up when she hears another rumble. She looks down to see a fire being sucked back down to the ground level, “Oh crap.” She whispers. She looks to Vincent and says “Pull us up. Pull us up now! It’s a freaking BACKDRAFT!”
Vincent hearing the complete panic in her voice pulls Red up with all his might. As he gets Red onto solid ground he quickly grabs onto Tifa and pulls her straight into his arms as the rumbles start. He turns with Tifa in his arms and grabs Red by the scruff of his neck and runs into the closest room. He runs for the window and jumps out of it and falls four stories as the fire explodes behind them.

*Back with Cloud and Barrett at the entrance of the hospital*
Clouds POV

I think that the only other time I have ever felt this heartbroken was when Aerith died. Barrett grabbed a hold of me before I could run into the building and do something stupid. As I turned to try and get him to let go of me I heard a window shatter right before the entire building went up in flames.
“NO!” I cried.
I feel a breeze rush past me and turn to follow it but before I could get all the way around I hear Sephiroth, and this time he has Barrett by the throat.
“I may have missed the first time but I made sure that this time there would be no chance of survival” Sephiroth said with a laugh.
I reached for my sword as he pushed Barrett at me; he pulled his gun and pointed it at us.
“Now you are going to suffer as I make sure everyone close to you dies a very painful death. I only have a few more people left since most of your team just died in that blast.” Sephiroth said with a smirk on his face. A gun cocks next to his ear as he gets ready to cock his.
“You really need to work on your aim Dickhead.” Tifa says from behind him, while Vincent helps her to stand.
“You BITCH! Why can’t you just die?” He grinds out.
“It looks like you are running out of luck Sephiroth.” I say as Reno, Cid, Yuffie, Rude, Barrett and the rest of the gang all pull out their weapons. Sephiroth snarls and whips around, slapping Tifa with his gun before firing in any direction just to escape. He disappears but not before Tifa and Cid get a shot of that hits him in the side and shoulder. Everyone puts their weapons away and as I turn to check on Tifa I watch her legs fold under her as she gives up her battle with standing. I rush to her side and gather her close as she tries to speak.
“Cloud…I…”
I cut her off and say, “Its okay Tifa, I know and I’m sorry.”
“So with both agree you are an idiotic ass?” She says weakly.
“Yes, and I am really sorry.”
“No Cloud…I am so sorry.” She whispers right before she passes out.
Its then that I notice blood seeping out of one of her wounds.
“Someone go get a doctor. NOW!” I shout before turning back to Tifa and whispering, “Please Tifa hold on. You’ll be okay soon. Just hold on.”
I close my eyes and for the first time in a long time, I pray.
