Chp 7
Chapter 7
Zackery did wonder where Cid’s spirit went. They soon met the first group of monsters at the entrance of the caverns. The extra troops and Kain added to their strength. They slowly make their way through the creatures, into the cave, and to the other side. Kain has the troops wait to make sure their escape route wasn’t destroyed. They take a moment to catch their breath before descending down.
Madnol, “Damn, that was alot to kill.”
Vincent, “I think that is the main part of her army.”
Kain, “There will be small groups further in.”
Vincent, “More likely.....”
Zackery, “Can we keep up? We have to fight through them and then fight Jenova.
Might be too much for us. . . “
Madnol, “So? I say we can do it! I never let the odds stop me and I am not about to begin now.”
Xavier sighs, “My psychotic brother has a point. We might as well go for the gold.”
Kain, “I think this assignment is best carried out to the end.”
Vincent, “To stop her, for Cloud and Yuffie. For all who suffered. . . “
Zackery, “For those who will suffer if we don’t do something.”
Vincent, “No matter what happens, we must continue till we reach the end. Jenova is still trying to building her energy. If we don’t stop her now, she will be beyond us. ”
They continue down the passage. The passage is dark and the footing is tricky in some places. Heroes come across a huge crack they need to get over. Vincent makes a loop in some rope and catches it on a rock on the other side. Zackery and Madnol go across first. They stand guard against any attacks from that side as Xavier makes his way across the pit. Kain goes across next with some difficulty. Vincent is on his way across, when odd creatures fly at him. He nearly falls off the rope. Kain shoots the creatures down. This gives Vincent enough time to get across.
Vincent, “Thanks.”
Kain, “No problem.”
They continue to the second chamb The There more creatures waiting. There aren’t as many, but these are tougher. It takes more serious fighting to clear this chamber. They again must take a breather. This doesn’t help their morale much. They continue downward for some time, then come to a wall. Then come to realize they must climb up.
Kain, “I must say, this would be a wonderful workout. If it didn’t have monsters along the way, one could market this.”
They look at him and realize he is joking.
Vincent, with a slight smiled, “I think you and Reeve would have gotten along quite well.”
They begin to climb up the wall. Kain climbs up first and takes a guard position. He is followed by Zackery, Vincent, Xavier, and Madnol is last. They continue along without further attacks till they reach the third place. Cid looked a bit worried when he pointed this room out earlier. They then saw why he was worried.
The room has some monsters, unlevel ground, and loose rocks above. This fight will be more interesting. The monsters are tough and, once in a while, someone has to dodge a falling rock. Xavier isn’t so lucky and gets hit. Madnol comes to his brother’s aid and kills the beast Xavier was fighting. He pulls Xavier out of the way and helps finish the fighting. They check on Xavier afterward. He took a nasty hit his shoulder. Madnol tries to give him a potion
Xavier stops him, “Use that when you meet Jenova, you little shit.”
Madnol, “You need both of your arms in good shape.”
Xavier gets to his feet, “I’m okay. . . .”
Madnol looks at him skeptically, “Raise your arms!”
Xavier is unable to raise his right arm.
Madnol, “Come here and take your medicine!”
Xavier, “Just a sip. . . “
Xavier takes a small amount of the potion. Xavier shoulder is still sore, but he can now use his arm more fully. They continue their walk further into the dark reachers of the crater.
The roup heads down some more, into the fifth chamber before Jenova. The creatures didn’t come out till they were in the center of the room. This puts them on defensive for most of the fight. Xavier is the weaker fighter this round, but it was Kain who got injured. He was tripped and pounced upon. He got free, but his gun arm has chewed up.
Kain, “Damn, those things have teeth.”
They finishes this fight and rest some. Kain uses his own potion supply to heal himself.
Vincent, “It is in that room, we find out our future.”
Zackery, “I want everyone to be sure they are ready to do this. Everyone can turn around and go back.”
Madnol, “We got this far and I doubt anyone wants to turn back.”
The rest agree to this in their own way. Then, they the enter the final chamber.
