Chapter Seven: All Hail the Sex Pistols

The following day, Cloud awoke to Cid sitting still in the kitchen, puffing whole-heatedly at a cigarette hanging out of the corner of his mouth, a cup of coffee resting between his hands, which gripped the porcilien as though the room as chilly. It was, in fact, an oddly humid day from the storm the night before, with the finest mists rolling through the town.

Cloud blinked awake and observed him, frowning deeply at the creases of worry making fine lines appear in his forehead, at the corners of his eyes and mouth. Cid was beginning to look old. Something Cloud hadn’t really taken the time to notice before. The elder Blond sucked in a deep breathe of the cigarette and remove it between his index and middle finger, ashing it in the middle of the table as was his tradition.

“ I know your awake, Strife. “ Cid said simply, lifting the filter to his mouth again, “ I talked to Tifa last night… But I was already informed that you knew that. “

“ Why, Cid? “ Cloud stretched out his legs absently, “ Cant you keep us here as a secret? “

“ Tifa worries. “ Cid said, “ She wants to know. The Children want to know. Their having a hard time in Midgar, Cloud. Everyone is. And your running from them. “

“ They would kill him. You know that. The second he stepped foot back into Midgar, they’d all kill him. “ Cloud whispered. The expression on Cids face changed a little bit, “ And don’t deny that they wouldn’t. His brother and he did a lot of damage there. “

“ They did, and its unexcusable. “ Cid puffed again, “ She’s told Vincent. He’s… staying with her, helping with the Children for now. Since he has no where else to go. He’s convinced that Kadaj kidnapped you, Cloud. He’s coming here to kill him. “

Clouds heart sank, his eyes staring blankly at the wall beyond Cids head. Vincent was a trained assassin, an ex-Turk, deadlier with Jenova cells and Mako coursing through his body, making him eternal and impossible to defeat by ones self. Cloud, with all his experience, what with killing Sephiroth by himself, was no match for the might and anger of the Valentine.

“ When will he be here? “ A lump had formed in Clouds throat. Cid shrugged and shut his eyes, snuffing the cigarette, “ Sometime this evening, I would guess… he travels quickest in the night and sleeps in the day. You know his vampiric tendencies. “

“ Shit! “ Cloud leapt to his feet, kicking away the blankets around them and hurrying down the hall. Cid stood and followed after him for a moment, taking out another cigarette and placing it in his thin lips.

“ Its futile, Cloud! You know it is. Vincent cant be shaken off so easily! “ He yelled after him. Cloud was busying himself with shoving into Kadaj’s room, not caring, practically lifting the Teen over his shoulder, thanking any deity out there that Kadaj had fallen asleep, uniform partially covering him from the waist-up. The youth struggled when he finally woke, looking around awkwardly.

“ What the fuck, shit face? “ The teen wormed around in his grip. Cloud merely held tighter and grabbed the remainder of his own outfit, Kadaj’s highly-polished sword, resting peacefully in its old sheath [ His old one was meant for two blades, he surmised, and a single blade would fit awkwardly ], the pillow and blankets he’d been sleeping with and a pouch that Cid had given him and Kadaj had stolen when he wasn’t looking. Large enough to carrying small ration of food and other neccesseties.

“ Shut up! “ Cloud yelled and shoved his feet into his shoes, wobbling back and forth with the weight of Kadaj resting on him. The Teen, surpizingly, didn’t fight too much after that and hung loose in his grip like a kitten in its mothers jaws.

“ Where will you go, Cloud? “ Cid followed them outside, to where Cloud unceremoniously tossed Kadaj onto the seat and started shoving things into the side pouches. He turned on his heel and hurried back inside, grabbing one of the loaves of bread Cid had bought days before, meat and a full bag of pastaries [ the same ones Cid had been trying to shove down his mouth each morning ] and progressed back out to the bike, tossing it all into the rear-most pouch with the largest space.

“ Anywhere. “ He said, pausing to pull his shoes on the rest of the way. A –very- puzzled Kadaj blinked, and begun pulling his suit the rest of the way on, “ Away from here. Away from Vincent. If he comes here, Cid, tell him you have – no – idea where the fuck we went, or I swear. “

“ Vincent? “ Kadaj echoed him, grabbing the sword that had fallen in the dirt and brushing it off, “ That’s whose chasing us? “

“ He wasn’t a couple of days ago. But that’s to Cid here, he’s discovered where we are. “ Cloud rose and pulled his leather piece of, his hands shaking with the buckles, “ He’s coming here to kill you. “

“ Because he thinks you kidnapped Cloud. “ Cid chimed in, stepping forward with a heavy sigh and reaching into his pocket. “ You helped me a lot, Cloud. That deserves more than a place to stay and food. Take this, and don’t waste it on something stupid.

Cid extended to him a handful of Gil. Another pile was in his other pocket, obviously visable through the material of his pants, “ I was going to go into town, and fetch that woman in there something for Valentines. Ya know. “

“ Yeah. “ Cloud shoved his gloves on and took the Gil with a nod of thanks, placing it into the correct compartment and finally mounting the bike. Kadaj still looked sorely confused and bed-headed.

“ Good luck, you two morons. “ Cid took a breathe of his cigarette and started back inside. Cloud started the bike, its engine roaring mightily as he cantered it to the center of the street and kicked it off, coasting through to a small shop that he only just opened half an hour before.

“ You. “ Cloud said, giving Kadaj ten Gil. The teen was rubbing at one eye, “ Go in there and get as many bottles of water as you can. Nothing else, you hear? “

“ Fine. “ Kadaj slipped off the bike and begun inside, “ I don’t know why your freaking out about this Vincent guy. “

“ I’ll tell you later. “ Cloud was nearly fidgeting, “ Just hurry. “

Kadaj nodded and yawned, nudging the door open and wandering inside. He emerged minutes later with seven bottles of water, looking at Cloud blankly when he came up to the side of the bike.

“ Where are these supposed to go? “

“ Front pouch, right there. “ Cloud pointed, “ It should be empty. “

Kadaj made a face and bent, beginning to load them, “ Why do you have so many damn places to put things? “

“ I’m on the road a lot. Or… I used to be, before Tifa needed help a couple of months ago. “ Cloud watched him mount the comfortable seat behind him and sigh, leaning heavily against his back.

“ Phht, whatever. “ Kadaj yawned loudly this time, “ I’m going back to sleeo. And wake me only if something –interesting- actually happens, not one of your freak outs. “

Cloud frowned and begun the bike again, speeding out of the town and into the empty landscape before them, hardly half a day in front of Vincent.

A knock at the door.

Cids face appeared behind it with a slight scowl, the streetlights now lit with candles each night illuminating his face with a golden glow. But nothing gleamed more than Vincents smooth claw, hidden in the confines of his dark cape, and his matching horribly pointed boots. The Turk inclined his head, red eyes flashing about the inside of the dimly lit room.

“ Yes? “ Cid said politely. The red eyes flickered back to him, and his human hand pressed onto the door. Strong and solid.

“ Where are they Cid? “

Sighing, the Pilot relented and allowed the ex-Turk to come inside, cape flowing behind him with the clank of metal floating around him. Vincent spun in a full circle twice, his bloody eyes scanning the room, and finally focusing on Cid.

“ What did you do with them, Cid? “

“ Nothin’. “ Cid took out his pack and lit one of them, nervously, “ They left this morning when they found out where you were comin’ after them. “

Vincents eyes narrowed, “ Where is Kadaj taking him? “

“ Well… “ Cid leaned his back against the door, his free arm wrapped around his torso and smoking with the other, “ I don’t know, exactly. Just kind of… wake up and go type of thing. “

“ Are you sure about that? “ Vincent rumbled with his impossibly deep voice. Cid shuddered and pushed away from the door, nodding, mostly to himself.

“ Yeah. No idea. They just left… “ He sat down at the kitchen table, in his favorite chair. Vincent remained standing, moving about the room like some kind of a horrible shadow, even his breathing light and un-detected, “ If I knew where they were going, I might tell you? “

“ Might? “ Vincent rounded on him, those burning eyes hovering inches away from the Pilots, “ Kadaj is Sephiroth, no matter if he looks like him or not. His thought processes are bound to be corrupted in the same manner, sooner or later. “

“ Well, Vincent. If I remember correctly… Sephiroth wasn’t born insane. “ Cid remarked, shrinking away as the embers in Vincent’s eyes enlightened.

“ He’s got Cloud, none the less. I will –not- allow a friend to die when I could have prevented it. “

“ Your still on about that? Don’t you know that no one –cares- about nobility anymore? It’s a dead matter, Vincent. “

The ex-Turk made a sound, narrowing his eyes further and leaning closer to Cid. Cid’s light eyes flew open and he leaned away slightly, heat rising to his cheeks and a certain thrill coursing through him.

“ Tell me Cid. “ Vincent said lowly, voice deeper than ever. The front buckles of his collar were pressing into Cids tanned skin, “ I’ll get information out of you, no matter what I have to do. “

Cids eyes snapped over to him, and he swallowed audibly, “ Well… erm. What did you have in mind, exactly? “

“ Quick and painful. The exact opposite of it. “ Vincents human hand came up, loosening the buckles slowly. Cids eyes traveled to the nimble movement of his long fingers, “ I know how you still feel, Cid. I remember those nights vividly in the middle of our travels, when the rest were gone for even the shortest time… “

“ Y-you do” Cid swallowed thickly when more of Vincents smooth face was being revealed to him, the expression as placid and unchanging as ever. The downward slant of his lovely mouth the same as it always had been, through all emotions and occasions. Not even the ghost of a past smile would cast across his features for even the slightest second.

“ Of coarse. “ Vincents voice was incredibly smooth; like the finest silk or the softest velvet. Face finally free, he placed a stray hand on one of Cids knee’s and begun inwards, “ I was half looking forward to getting here. Partially to kill that clone. Mostly to see you. “

“ R-really… “ Cids hands were shaking on the arms of the chair. Vincent leaned further and completely bypassed his awaiting lips, rubbing his cheek into Cids gruff one.

“ Yes. “ The ex-Turk tilted his head a fraction so that he was able to press a soft kiss to the mans cheek, raining a whole line of soft, fleeting kisses until his mouth finally came within a clear shot of Cids, the silken smooth of his lips finding the gruffer ones. Finally, Cid couldn’t take the teasing and surged forward, grabbing him by the shoulders and planting a firm kiss on his mouth.

The ex-Turk groaned throatily and slipped his arms around the Pilots shoulders, tilting his head and further deepening the kiss. Cid embraced him about the waist and sighed deeply when Vincent broken the kiss, placing biting kisses along the length of Cids throat.

“ How long has it last been since we were together? “ Vinent asked, voice quiet and almost whispered between kisses, huskier than ever. Ids back arched and he tossed his head, eyebrows coming together.

“ Uhm… “ Vincents mouth pulled away, breathing hot breathes over the moist skin. Cid ached for it once it was gone, “ Four weeks ago… when we were in Midgar together… To fight… “

“ What have you done since then? “

“ N-nothing really… every now and then, you know… “

“ Hmph. “ Vincents quick fingers had gone to slipping his shirt off, causing Cid to arch with a sharp gasp with the warm and metallic cool hand sliding around his fresh torso. “ You want it, don’t you? “

“ Mmm… oh yeah. “ Cid forced his eyes open, mouth parted with gaping breathes. The warm hand traveled further down and hooked on the edge of his pants, slowly popping the top button open.

“ Then tell me what I want, Cid. “

The Pilot face faulted, watching with wide eyes as Vincent dropped down to one knee between his thighs, those lovely red eyes of his gleaming brightly, “ I could leave you like this, you know. I have before. “

Cid clenched his teeth, watching Vincent slowly begin to pull the zipper down. The click of each tooth as it went down was unbearable, “ Alright damnit! I… I saw them heading east, toward the coastline… I don’t know whats out there, but that’s the way they were going! “

“ More specific. “ Vincent insisted, having pulled the zipper down the rest of the way and forcibly pulling Cids pants down to his ankles, leaving him wearing a simple pair of boxer-briefs, dark and stained in most places, straining in the front with small beads of moisture gathering where the head was.

“ I don’t fucking know! No one told me anything! They just left, I’m telling you, and they went toward the coastline! “ Cid shifted his hips uncomfortably, “ Now hurry please, don’t tease me, Vince. “

The ex-Turk stared up at him, massaging the inside of his thigh slowly, shrugged, and pulled the band of the briefs down quickly. So quickly, that Cid hardly had time to let out a swear word before it slurred into something else, Vincents lovely mouth descending upon him quickly.

“ Uggh. “ Cid arched his back, followed shortly by his hips, his hands threading into Vincent’s silken hair as those lips traveled further and further down his shaft, sucking once down to the base and rising again, his quick and almost dagger-like tongue stroking into the oozing slit at the head.

Arching, Cid fought to bring his hips closer to Vincents mouth and was held down by a mighty golden claw, the sharp nails at the end almost pinching into the skin of his sharp hip bones and almost breaking the skin there.

“ Vince… “ The pilot gasped when the ex-Turk begun to bob his head slowly, tongue raking along the entire length and twisting about, rubbing the under vein and stroking just underneath the corona. Cids chest rose and fell sharply with each breathe, covered in a thin sheen of sweat that made his entire body glimmer in the nearby candle.

Finally, Vincents human hand lingered downwards, underneath the heavy sac there and digging deeper, until he found his entrance. Cids entire body clenched when the slender digit slipped past the tiught ring, somehow slick with saliva, and Cid just couldn’t take it anymore. His body arched from the chair and his mouth was wide open, silent though, gripping Vincents dark head through the shockwaves that coarse through his body sharply.

When Cid finished, Cid let the now flaccid length slip from his mouth, burying his face there and breathing in slowly and deeply, the metal claw slowly letting go of where it gripped him. Cid was still catching his breathe, glancing down every so often and murmuring every time Vincent moved his face about. Finally, the Gunsman stood.

“ Vince? “ Cid said, watching him lazily as the ex-Turk did up the clasps again, a glow to his eyes that focused warmly on Cid. Something the pilot had learned long ago, was that Vincent –did- in fact show some kind of emotions; through the occasionally pain wracked eyes, that would smile every now and then despite himself.

“ I must leave. “ His deep voice purred.

“ So soon? Listen… cant you spend the night? “ Cid was blushing now, pulling his hands back up hastily and looking around for his shirt, running a hand through his hair and the small gray streak forming there.

“ I cannot… The sooner I catch up, the better. “

“ But Valentines is in two days. “ Cid argued. Vincent shot him a certain glance, “ I –know- you wont be back in time for that… at least give me White Day. “

Vincent was silent for a long time, the pleading look on Cid hardly breaking down his resolve. Finally though, he gave him with a heavy sigh and wandered in the direction of the couch, “ I am going to regret this later on. “

“ You wont. “ Cid said, giving up on finding where Vincent had thrown his shirt and following him, “ I’ll make it worth your while. “

“ Damn! “

Fenrir skidded to a hault. In the night and roar of the engine, Cloud hadn’t heard the gentle roll of the ocean, and barely saw the edge with the dying bulb of Fenrir’s headlight. Kadaj crashed forward and knocked his chin into Clouds back, making him recoil backwards and hold it in mild annoyance.

“ What the hell is your problem? “ Kadaj said, peering about his arm and spying the edge, “ Trying to kill both of us now? “

“ I didn’t see it. “ Cloud said, clearing his throat and turning the bike around, “ I don’t know where to go from here. “

“ Just stop for the night, idiot. You can hardly see anything as it is. You might crash into a fiend and piss it off enough to kill us. “ Kadaj purred, leaning back and away from him in the back seat, “ Besides, it makes my ass hurt sitting here for too long. “

“ Get used to it. “ Cloud said, driving along the coastline and quickly trying to find somewhere to go. Everything out here was barren though.

“ ‘ get used to it ‘. You’ve said that to me more times than I can count with both hands. “

“ Shut up, or I’ll kick you off. “

“ Violent now. I really think you should get medication for this. “

“ Listen. We cant stop. Vincent is coming after you, and the second he see’s you he’s going to blow your brains out. “ Clouds voice grew quiet near the end and kicked the speed up double what it was, causing Kadaj to suddenly grip his hips for stability.

“ Do you want me to fall off? “

“ Just hold on! I heading back towards Midgar. That’ll trip him up for a little while. “

“ Oh yeah, unless we PASS BY HIM. “

“ Why? Do you see him anywhere? “

“ I was joking. “ Kadaj shut his eyes for a moment and sighed loudly, “ Why are you doing this for me? “

“ Because I don’t want you to die. “

“ At this rate, it’ll be unavoidable. “ Kadaj’s voice was grim, “ Your friends are going to keep after me until they kill me. Just like Sephiroth. “

“ That’s why I’m carting you all over Gaea. “ Cloud said, gritting his teeth as the night became cooler and the glinting light of Fiends became more and more numerous. “ Damnit, I wont let them kill you. “

“ Your such a fucking moron. “ Kadaj sighed and leaned against his back again, yawning widely and trying to a position more comfortable. It appeared they were in for a straight-shot, long ride.
