Moments earlier, Zidane and Kuja had made their way up to the Queen’s chambers. “Alright, let me do most of the explaining, okay? There’s no point in starting another war,” Zidane said to Kuja.
“Alright then,” Kuja nodded.
“Here goes…” Zidane reached up and lightly knocked upon the door.
“You may enter,” Queen Garnet’s voice rang out from within.
“Listen, don’t come it yet, ok? I have an idea that just might bring it all on a bit easier.” Zidane reassured.
“I hope that you know what you are doing…” Kuja said, slightly nervous.
Zidane gave him an exasperated look and then shook his head in defeat. He grabbed the doorknob and entered the room, not quite closing the door behind him.
“Zidane! Oh, I am so glad you’ve returned!” Garnet leapt into his open arms.
“Mmm, Dagger! It’s good to be back…” Zidane hugged her close, taking in the scent of her almost ebony dark hair, “I’ve missed you.”
“And I, you! Where have you been?” Garnet looked into his face.
“The Iifa Tree,” Zidane answered.
“Oh, I see. Well, I am fortunate that you are here,” Garnet leaned up and kissed him gently, causing Zidane to almost completely forget why he was there in the first place.
“Hey, I want to talk to you about something… you see, I didn’t exactly come back alone,” Zidane said.
“What… do you mean?” Garnet stepped back, studying his expression.
“I’d like you to meet someone… well, I mean, you’ve already met him technically…” Zidane began. “Could you come in here please?” he called.
The door slowly swung open and Kuja stepped into the room. Garnet gasped, covering her mouth with a shaking hand.
“Dagger… Queen Garnet, you remember Kuja?”
