!WARNINGS! A classic Mary-Sue fic! If you don't like girls mysteriously finding their way in the world of Final Fantasy VIII then, I suggest you leave as quickly as possible.
YOU: I usually don't post if I don't get Feed Back. It just proves that this fiction wasn't worthy enough to be put on here. So, if you like it, be sure to post a review, even if it is to tell me to UPDATE. I like being pushed.
Summary: Seventeen year old Lisa Cardaci, spends her birthday in Japan to meet with Executive Producer, Hironobu Sakaguchi. What does that have to do with her winding up outside of Balamb a week before all conflicts?
In a daze
These days go by
Faster and faster I speed through life
Now I’ve got to take control
Of my mental and my physical
Never sheltered from life’s hard storms
I was cold but now I am warm
Inside I’m warm
Searching and finding the truth inside myself
Inside myself
My soul was starving
I was born with nothing
I’ll die with everything
Kishana:Alright, girl. Here, we go with another chapter and seriously, I am trying. Thank you for the review and the emails. You are amazing and that Squall photo is amazing. I wish I could put it up here. I hope to hear from you soon.
SilverWolverina: Wow, thank you. I'm going to try my best to complete this. I'm just a little lost and the writer's block has been killing me. Thank you for your inspiring words, I'll keep them in mind when I write. Thank you so much.
Chapter Eight: Act On Impulse
"So-I guess that's it for Seifer," Quistis says, lowly. "He wasn't a bad guy, but he sure wasn't the brightest student."
I knew Seifer as the arrogant goody good who was always humorous, no matter what the situation was. Seifer's brave and sometimes carries himself as the profound team-player, for the exception of Raijin and Fujin, but I can't imagine they talk much. Too many, Ya knows and BITCH.
Squall sort of shrugs at the conversation, too busy focusing on his own problems. I watched the change in everyone, how they all started to doubt themselves and rely on only Squall. Shoving the job of commander in his hands. I'll admit it, later on in the game, I knew he was the guy for the position, but it took a struggle before he, himself realized this.
And there's nothing worse than having the responsibility for the one's you care about, when you're almost positive you can't.
"Lisa?" It was Rinoa, the young brunette who had been crying the whole walk through the Galbadian forest. Each time she'd look at me, she wanted to ask something, but she never did. You can see it and if I hadn't known any better, I'd say she was doing it, deliberately.
"What's wrong?"
The mood was dead and I'm sure that no one was in the state of mind to be thinking, rationally. "Tell me right now-and I swear, you better...Seifer---did he die?"
The question of the month. I turned my head to look at Squall, my eyes asking him permission to let out the 'unknown'. He must have been beyond tired, that or just needed to know for himself. "His sentence."
I turned back to her, my voice weak from lack of talking. "Alive."
The tension in the room went away at my words and it actually felt good to bring some hope to the group. I was too upset, thinking that some-how I had been a problem the whole time. Hell, I probably am, but I'd continue to act like I don't notice. "Selphie."
She looked at me with this bright look upon her face, her eyes wide with curiosity. "Yeah?"
"You might want me to do that make-up thing to you, soon."
Irvine Kinneas, the pimped out cowboy. Everything about him was intense, almost more intense than Squall's features. His jade eyes look up from beneath light carmel locks, going dramatically with smooth golden skin from, what I'm guessing all of his missions outdoors.
A slight smirk forms at the corner of his lips and he tilts his hat towards us and that little gesture just merited him three blushes. I guess there's just something about cowboy's with ridiculously long legs that get to me.
"Irvine Kinneas," he spoke, softly, with that light honey-sweet accent.
"I...well...yeah...I know...that's...I'm, Lisa." I must have looked like an idiot, stammering like that. I'm sure that Zell and Squall were looking at us dumbfounded.
"Nice to meet you." Tell me about it. "Will you be helping us on the mission?"
"Yes!"..."No!"
Quistis looks at Squall. "Yes."
Squall returns the glare, overpowering hers much to a shuddering extent. "I don't think so."
"Listen," Quistis started, whispering, obviously. "This girl has so much power you couldn't even begin to fathom. Say Irvine fails, you're going to need a strong force."
He snarls at me, narrowing his eyes. I raise an eyebrow at him, skeptically. "What?"
"Did you see what Ifrit did to me? I'd rather take my chances, alone."
The image of Squall brushing at his backside to chase away the flames, started to plague my mind. "So, then, give me more magic."
He grits his teeth at me, "You're not ready."
I'm not ready? he's talking to me, like I'm going to fly out of the nest. "Leave me alone, Squall."
And I knew that he'd be more than happy to oblige.
"...Darlin', I didn't want to say it, but you've got something right-" *fires five shots* "Wam! right there."
I sit on the stairs of the Sorceresses' float, on guard to warn them if Seifer ever wakes up. Hyne, this is stupid. The sadistic glint in Squall's eyes, as he reassured me that my job wasn't easy. Keep my eye on an unconscious person. Nice way to let me know that I'm just a silly little girl who can never do anything serious.
My breath is visible in the air and I frown, slightly. It was just warm a few minutes ago. Must be Shiva or something, I shrugged. One of these days he's going to need my help and I just might not give it to him. How dare he distort his 'kind' intentions, for a joke. Like he's trying to make this easy for me.
Maybe I am a just a joke?
I stumbled up the stairs, barely catching myself from tripping. Giving me just the angle to notice Elite Soldiers coming from behind Edea, guns drawn and locked on targets. I watched the red dot travel across my stomach and up towards my chest. I shivered, whether it was from fear or the cold, it didn't matter. Death was the strongest threat right now.
Cold. Ice crystal's formed above Edea's head, sharp like daggers, and aiming for Squall. It would be too late, but I strive to reach him, which resulted out to me and him, free-falling off the float. The crystal stabbed into my jacket and I winced. Now, it was extremely cold, like my whole entire body was freezing over.
"Ru-un!" I gasped, finding it hard to breathe at the heavy weight of Squall's body and the erupting pain in my stomach.
I put my hands underneath his arms and start to pull him by the gates. Not hearing anything from Rinoa and Irvine, I looked up at them, surprised to see them fighting off the group of Soldiers, who were adding up to more and more. Tons.
"Lisa, get Squall out of here!" Quistis yelled, trying to reach over the rush of Elite's that stand in her way.
I shut my eyes, trying to block out the noise and the tight situation. The smell of defeat and the lost light that no longer shines. We're going to save them. I promise. I looked at the life-less body, shaking my head at how pitiful this must seem. How am I going to do this without Squall awake? Again, I grabbed onto him, maneuvering us towards the parked car.
"This isn't the way I imagined us driving away together, but hey," I mused, trying to make light of the situation, but failed miserably. I laid him down in the backseat and quickly started up the ignition.
I have no idea where I'm going, but wherever it is, it's going to be as far as this car can go. I reached around in my bag, feeling around for a warm bottle. Once found, I bit off the cork and leaned back to put it close to Squall's mouth. It wasn't hard, seems how his lips are already parted. Phoenix down, a beautiful liquid.
"Cura, Sleep," I whispered, trying to keep my concentration on both the road and Squall.
When he wakes up, I'm pretty sure he's going to be a wild cat. I was shivering at the thought of it. He's been nothing, but mean to be since I got here. It's not like I choose to come here, if I was ever offered, I'd probably laugh in the person's face.
I furrowed my eyebrows, seeing a tuner. There's a radio? see, this can't be too bad, let's get some quality music going, I'll be set.
'Tell my baby, that I'm never coming home. Oh, no, never again...'
I turned the station.
'When we walked out towards the the waves, I never knew that it would be the last time we'd look into each other's eyes-'
I sighed, turning the station, again. "What the hell is up with your music?"
'Getting away with murder!'
I shut off the radio and rested my head back. No signs of water or stops. Then again, this isn't America, where a Mc Donald's' is right off seventeen. What I would give for a Big Mac.
No place looks trusting enough to stop, so we'll keep on going.
