Chapter 8: Buried secrets
Rude entered Reno's office at 11:30. "Does anyone have some kind of medical training?" asks Elena. Probably not, we're all warriors.
"I don't think so, but I know someone who does." I say, knowing that for once I needed Aubrey for something else than filling up papers. i dialed his number.
"Zano." His voice was sleepy. "Get out of bed sleepy head. I'll see you in the Turks HQ in ten minutes. We're going on mission. Oh and don't forget the magic healing stuff." I hung up. "Let's wait for the lapdog." I said, sitting in Reno's chair.
"Where are going and why?" Asked Rude. "We're going in ShinRa's basement to get Zack back here." He frowned. "Zack?" Reno cuts him. "Long story I'll explain you later, just obey." Mmm if I take on Sephiroth's ways Reno definitly take Tseng's.
Aubrey arrived with a small bag wich I knew was full of materia. "So where are we going?" He asked. "In ShinRa's basement."
He bit his lip. "Why?" Like I'm going to tell you. "None of your buisness, take your stuff and follow us."
He mutters something I don't understand. "How are we going to get in?" Elena takes a little electronic keypad from her navy blue blazer. "With this."
She says. I look at my watch, it's time to go. "Let's go." They follow me out of the room. In these kind of situation I just love to be the boss.
We get in the tunnel that relies ShinRa's new tower with Rufus' appartements only minutes after leaving the Reno's office.
Thanks for mako I can see in the complete dark but I know the Turks can't. I let them go first with the falshligths and follow them with Aubrey. We rapidly got to Rufus' appartements. Elena hold the device on the keypad and rapidly got the password to the basement.
The door openned and we all rushed in, closing it behind your backs. They were about ten doors, all locked up. "Well Blondie, get started." Reno says, crossing his arms on his chest. She openned the first door in a snap and looked inside.
"Oh creepy, but he's not in there." She closed the room and openned the second door. "Bingo!" She yelled.
I got in the room and the first thing I saw was the man I've loved for 6 years lying on a fucking table, half naked. I ran up to him, taking his hand in mine.
"Hang in there SOLDIER." I was smilling like an idiot. "Zano, look at what you can do."
The brown-haired SOLDIER came up to him and started to look at the screens beside my former husband. A strange bipping filled the room.
"What's that?" I asked, trying to convice myself it wasn't him dying. Aubrey smiled. "He's waking up." I looked down and saw his eyelids flicker, blue mako eyes slowly showing up.
"Cl...." A voice hoarse from spending many years not talking. "Hello." Aubrey started to do restore healing spells around the SOLDIER.
"Where...?" He started to look around, seeing Reno, Elena and Rude. "You're in ShinRa's basements, you've been sleeping for 4 years."
He smilled. "So I guess that exlains why you look so old." Reno grabbed my wrist. "Let's take him home, you can explain yourselfs there."
I nodded and helped Zachary sit up. He was heavy but he tried to help us walk him out of this place. I know now he felt carying me around like a rag doll the first time I defeated Sephiroth. We got in the elevator and Elena pushed the button to get us to my quarters.
"Why are you with the Turks?" he asked. "Because... it's a long story." The little bell sound told us we were on my floor.
"Ok a couple more steps and you can rest." He painfully walked to the door where he read 'Cloud Strife, Military general.' a smile came on his face. I lead in to my large bed and got back to the door.
I looked at my boyfriend, his eyes were filled by pain. "Call me when you're finished." He pushed the others in the elevator and disappear from my sight. A tear fell on my cheek as I saw the doors close, nothing would be the same.
