ABSOLUTION
Chapter VIII

Cloud watched as the eldest demon twin, Vergil, deflected the attack on Sky, and shook off his relief. “Don’t Kill! Simply knock ‘em out!” He heard himself roar, speaking in only a language his fellow KNIGHTs knew. He almost felt the change in energy and intent, and saw the entire active Brigade switch styles. Concentrating on his work, he searched the area for the gunners.

Catching sight of a long braid shifting atop a small nook, the Warrior took off; dodging the bullets the brunette was firing at him. Feeling First Tsurugi slide smoothly through the metal of the gun’s long barrel, he stood over the ex-pilot and whispered his apologies to the stunned man.

“Strife…?” the brunette’s whisper reached his sensitive ears.

Duo hardly followed the unmistakable being’s moves as he reflected a bullet with what he recognized as the inner piece of his big fucking sword, before taking off to claim the second gat. Grabbing his headset, he jammed it over his ear, by this time Kyya was out of commission with a short bark of outrage. He nearly screamed into the mic, “Don’t shoot the one with the white star and golden claw! It’s Strife!”

Heero heard Rude curse and saw a small explosion in the vicinity he knew the American man had set up. Rolling to the side quickly and aiming at the white star centered on the wolf’s forehead, he cocked the gat. “Don’t come any closer Strife.”

Blue eyes narrowed on the grenade on the hip of the young Officer. Cloud knew that Yuy had a tendency to self-detonate if cornered. It was one of the reasons he had picked the man from the streets; he wasn’t afraid to die for his mission. And right now, even as Yuy’s Commander, Cloud was in his way to achieving his mission. Still…

“You sure you want to do that, Heero?” he asked, looking up from his kneeling position, not moving a muscle as he stared up into cobalt blue eyes of the younger SOLDIER.

“Have you left us to fight with them? Help to kill us?” the short haired brunette’s icy voice accusing.

“Do you see me killing? Do you see any of them killing?” The blonde questioned. “So what’s it going to be, Heero?”

The Third Class Warrior stared down at his superior, gat aimed squarely on his forehead. “I don’t want to kill you.”

Cloud saw something flit across the tanned ex-pilot’s eyes before the tension in his trigger hand eased off a little. Cautiously standing, the blonde haired KNIGHT watched his subordinate. It looked as if the not wanting to kill him thing was the best he was going to get. “You kill one and their commander will gut you with no remorse.”

Heero watched the fur clad armored male jump from the edge and reentered the fight. He watched as the blonde carefully aimed to knock the SOLDIERs unconscious. A husky patterned wolf fur caught his eyes before the flash of pure silver demanded his attention…

‘That’s the one,’ Heero thought, remembering Reno’s description of the person he saw at the SRC-3 building. He pulled the clip of hollow point specialty rounds from the gat’s chamber and reloaded with a magazine of high powered tranquilizers; one alone strong enough to knock an elephant cold out…

“Squad one…Pure Silver is center stage.” He called into his radio headset.

Sky glared at the static that now came from the radio on the unconscious man she laid on the ground. Looking around the battle field, she searched for what the command over the radio had spoken of. The pit of her stomach flipped in fear as she spotted Akira, knelt over Dante, who had taken a wound to the shoulder. Suddenly hyper aware, the KNIGHT noticed the creeping forms of SOLDIERs who were making their way towards the unaware Healer.

Without thought, Sky rocketed towards the younger woman, roaring a command to her Brigade, “Fall back! Retreat!”

As she got closer to the silver blue eyed Healer, she shoved Alucard in the sight of the on coming stealthy SOLDIERs. “Hand me your fur.” She growled, not caring about the stunned expression on her sister’s face, she quickly removed her own and nearly ripped the silver fur from Akira. “Put this on,” she ordered, slinging her husky black and white wolf at the slender young woman.

Feeling the mounting tension in her stomach, she grabbed Alucard and pushed him towards the entrance of the tunnels towards base, “Get the Gate Guards ready incase these humans follow.” Turning towards Dante she shoved Akira into him, “Take her with you. Her safety is your mission.”

Feeling an aura at her side, she looked over at clear mako blue eyes, “Make sure everyone is falling back. Count the numbers at the entrance.”

Akira felt her stomach knot up as Dante picked up her still form. Why wasn’t Sky following them? Noticing that Dante was one of the last to leave from the suddenly quiet battlefield, she watched as the female warrior clipped her silver fur around her neck, before removing her serrated sword and an other add on piece as another blade. Akira watched the KNIGHT charge the large number of SOLDIERs, and in horror saw one after another, twenty sharp tranquilizers filling her sister’s body as she fought the vicious fighters off for more than fifteen minutes. Until suddenly, like in slow motion, the swords dropped from her hands, and she fell to her knees; Akira cried and screamed as winter eyes locked on hers with resignation before the valiant KNIGHT’s body slammed to the ground and Dante dashed behind the stone gates of the base entrance.
