Chapter 8


It is outside the church. Cardinal Rufus is a mess: his clothes soaked with sweat and blood. He dials 911 in a panic, looking up at the sky after he dials.

Rufus, “ Dear god, if you were that mad at the cereal, you should have sent a nicer messenger! A dream even!” hears the operator pick up, “ Hello? Help! We need more police at Saint Xu’s church. People are being killed by.. “ but before he can finish, someone swoops in and grabs him from above. The receiver is left hanging as Rufus screams.

Tifa, Cid, Laguna, Silent Vincent, and Kiros arrive at Saint Xu’s church. They stare at the horrific scene before them.

Cid, “Shit!”

Simple words that express what they all felt. Bodies were everywhere. Partial, whole, and mostly bloody. Some were hanging, burning or upended. No one was left standing. This was a scene that can only be seen in hell itself. Tifa buries her face in Kiros’ chest.

Cid, “ This is why I don’t go to church! I told people it was bad for ya health!”

Tifa, “ Is it too late?”

Laguna, “ To save these people? Yes. But we are still here so we can still try to stop them.”

Tifa, “ Where are they?”

Kiros, “ They coulda been in the church already.”

Laguna, “That means we can’t hurt them.”

Cid, “ What the fuck? These guys are killing people like out of some fucked up Terminator movie! I wanna pop their asses!”

Laguna, “If they pass through the archway, they are sin free. If you kill them while they are sin free, they go to heaven and the end of existence happens.”

Cid, “ What is stopping them from liking themselves?”

Tifa, “ Suicide is a sin. They would go to hell.”

Cid, “What the hell are we suppose to do? Play rock, paper, scissors with them?! A solution is not gonna to just fall from the sky!”

As if on a special cue, a body falls from the sky and hits the ground in a disgusting splatt. The body has burst apart like some toy that has been throw to the ground.

Cid looks at Kiros “ Know him?”

Kiros, “ Not from my neighborhood.”

Zack speaks up, “ That was the Cardinal.”

They look at see Zack leaning against a body and drinking a bottle of beer. His wings lay next to him in a bloody mess. Zack looks exhausted. Kiros points his gun at him anyway.

Zack, “Though he looks a mess, the rosaries are the dead give away.” then laughs, “ Get it? Dead give away!”

Cid, “Let me pop him!” As Cid tries to take the gun from Kiros.

Tifa gets between Cid and Kiros, “ No! Listen you jackass, we can’t touch them!”

Cid, “ I don’t wanna touch him. I wanna shot the hell out of him!”

Zack calmly stares at the sky, “He has been at this for a while. I don’t even know how he can keep it up.”

High in the shy, a shadow looks. Something with wings soars past then and lets go of a humans.

Zack, “ When we ran out of church parishioners, he started to look for people off the street. This is eons of repressed anger rearing its ugly head.” Steps back, “ I suggested you get back.”

They all jump back in time ad a body hits the ground and explodes in a mess of body parts. Tifa runs at Zack to grabs him by his suspenders and shake him hard.

Tifa, “ WHY?! What the fuck do you hope to accomplish here?! “

Cid looks at Kiros, “ I thought we weren’t aed ted to touch em?”

Kiros, “ Tifa is about to go limit on their asses.”

Zack slaps Tifa away, “ This was not my idea! I just wanted to go home again.” throws the empty bottle of beer away, “ We both did. When he found out who you were and what you had to do.. he snapped. I never wanted to end existence.” Then chuckles, “ In the past, he hated to see me kill people. He always felt sorry for humans. Not that you would know this by looking at him now.”

Cid, “ This guy is wasted!”

Laguna, “ That means he is human. “ Slaps zack to sober him up, “ Zack. We need you to focus.”

Zack looks at Laguna and smiles, “ The Muse! I haven’t seen you in a long time. Missed you here on earth.”

Laguna nods with a smile, “ I missed you also. Zack, did you walk through the archway yet?”

Sephiroth yells down, “ No.”

Sephiroth lands gracefully beside then and lets his wings fold some on his back, pauses to brush himself off.

Sephiroth, “ We waited for you. I wanted you to watch us make our grand entrance.”

Laguna, “ Sephiroth, you have to stop this. Kuja was using you. If you go back this way.. “ but Sephiroth slaps him across the face stopping him.

Sephiroth, “I am aware of what will happen.”

Tifa tries to leap at him and unleash at attack if punches and kicks.

Tifa, “ You sick twisted mother fucker!”

Sephiroth parried her attacks and grabs her in a hold to pet her hair. His face clearly not that of a sane person.

Sephiroth, “Tifa, I thought you would understand me. We have both been abandoned. Cast off for others. I know you still feel devastated by it and you only suffered a few years. I suffered it for a millennia! You are denied your Cloud, who is at this very moment living happy with Aeris as we speak. “ tilts her head back and kisses for forehead before letting go of her chin, “Seeing humans who replaced me in god’ heart everyday. It isonstonstant reminded of what I lost to mankind. I have to teach god that you can’t throw people away. Soon the police will come and kill us as we exit the church. Then this fucked up existence can disappear.

Zack staggers to his feet, “I can’t let you do this, Sephiroth. “ We can’t end existence.”

Sephiroth sigh as he nods to his friend, “ My friend and ally. Mass genocide always exhausts you.” He pets Zack’s long this black hair, “ You are weak and more importantly you are human. Humanity gives you a pesky thing called a conscience.”

Sephiroth hugs Zack, stabbing him in the gut with a knife. Zack looks at him in shock, feeling betrayed by his best friend. Sephiroth lets his lifeless body fall onto the ground. Laguna nods to Cid and Silent Vincent.

Sephiroth, dispassionate, “ It also grants short life spans,” Whispers under his breath, “Sorry zack, but you betrayed me first.”

Kiros and, Silent Vincent, and Laguna charge Sephiroth. As they fight, Cid takes Tifa and hides behind an overturned truck.

Tifa, “ That guy is fucking nuts!”

Cid nods, “ Yeah, he is!” as he proceeds to undo his belt buckle.

Tifa, “ I can’t believe how fucked we are!” as Cid was fighting his belt buckle, “ What are you doing?”

Cid, “ You said if we had five minutes left, that you would fuck me! I want my payment! A lil sweet loving.”

Tifa, “ The others are fighting for their lives and you want to have sex? We have to go down fighting!”

Cid, “Can’t I just hump you some first? I need a moral booster!”

Tifa, “ No!”

Cid, “ That's not fair! I might as well be like that comatose guy.. What was his name? Oh yeah! John Doe Jersey! Shit.. he ain’t getting anything either.”

Tifa freezes, “ What did you say?”

Cid scowls, “About making sweet love?”

Tifa, “ I mean about John Doe Jersey.”

Cid, “ That guy? He is the dude they have on life Support.”

Tifa, “ Where is he?”

Jay, “ At Saint Vivi’s Hospital. “ and points across the street.

Tifa, “Where is the nearest Boardwalk?”

Cid, “ Lady babe, I ain’t Information! Are we gonna get it down or not?”

Tifa , “Where is it?!”

Cid backs away from her, “Only five miles away... Jesus... “

Tifa, “ Have you ever been there?!”

Cid, “Once. I was screwing the girl who sold ets ets for the Blitz Ball games.”

Tifa kisses Cid on the lips, jumps up, and looks to see how the guys are fairing.

Cid need a moment to recover, “ Hot damn, now that is a kiss!”

Kiros and Laguna fight Sephiroth. His wings leaving feathers floating in the air from the struggle. Silent Vincent was thrown to side and just getting back to his feet.

Tifa, “ Vincent!”

Silent Vincent looks over to Tifa. She waves him over and pushes Cid back, who was trying to get another kiss.

Tifa, “Cid, help them stall Sephiroth.” Looks to Silent Vincent, “ Come with me to the hospital!” She runs to hospital with Silent Vincent.

Cid, “ How the fuck do I do that?!”

Tifa calls back, “ Just be creative!”

Cid, “ But the only creative thing I wanna do takes two people!”

Tifa and Silent Vincent rush through the people trying to escape out of the building. No one was at the reception des. Tifa jumps over the desk and checks the computer. Silent Vincent can hear screaming of panicking people still. Tifa jumps back top his side.

Tifa, “He is on the fifth floor in ICU!”

The two hurry down the hallway.

Sephiroth shakes off Kiros and grabs Laguna by the throat. Cid steps up with the Uzi, after clicking the safety off, he aims it at Sephiroth.

Cid, “ Eat lead, you fucking overgrown chicken!

Sephiroth looks up as he chokes laguna with one hand.

Cid, “ Time for the Counting game! Can you tell me how many bullets I pump into you?!”

Laguna chokes out, “ No!

Sephiroth throws Laguna from him and ducks, letting his wings spread out. The bullets blaze from the Uzi, spreading the wings. Feathers and bone fragments go flying. Laguna and Kiros tackle Cid to the ground but they are too late.

Cid, “ Shit, I only clipped him!”

Kiros smacks Cid upside the head, “

Cid, “ What was that for?!”

Laguna, “ Angels need their wings taken off to become human. Now he just has to pass through the archway and we’re screwed!”

Sephiroth stands up and looks at the bloody mess that used to be his wings. He dips his finger into his blood to licks it off his fingers. Then he begins to laughs.


Sephiroth looks at the sky, “ The end has come at last!” his voice seems to almost boom across the churchyard.

John Doe Jersey lays in a bed in ICU, hooking up to life-support. Tifa and Silent Vincent look at him through the glass.

Tifa, “ I’ll do it,”

Heidegger, “ No one touched him!”

The shit monster charges them. Tifa and Silent Vincent looks at each other. They both understand what they must do. Tifa kisses Silent Vincent on the lips and goes into the room. Silent Vincent blushes a moment before he pulls out his air freshener But it is empty. He sighs and tosses it behind him. With a war cry, Silent Vincent charges the shit monster at full speed.

Tifa looks down at the patient, “ I hope your a Blitz ball fan.” and pulls the chords from the wall. Tifa watches ah the man thrashed in his bed.

Silent Vincent is charging closer to Heidegger. As the monitor on John Doe goes flat line, a huge light seems to rush through the shit monster, making it erupt in a pile of classy everywhere. Silent Vincent charges over the remains and into a wall.

Tifa climbs to her feet and sees the man is now dead. As she turns to leave, a knife is thrusted into her stomach. Holding the knife is the half decomposed remains of Tseng one of the Turipleiplet. He laughs as he twists the blade inside her. Silent Vincent kicks the door open, grabbing Tseng by the back of his suit and throwing him out a window. Looks down as Tifa falls to her knees, his face pales as her life blood pumps from her wound,

Sephiroth hurries across the pavement, racing towards the church doors. The heroes try to stop him, only to get flung aside. As he reaches the door to opening the, but a great energy from inside pushes them open anyway. Huge light inside blinds him and makes him fall into a fetal position. Reno steps out followed by a beautiful woman. She has short brown hair that curls cutely outward. Her green eyes full of love and compassion. Her dress is finally spun gold pink.

Reno, “ Was Kansas really that terrible, Sephiroth?”

Laguna and Kiros bow to their knees. Cid stands in confusion.

Cid, “Whoa... who’s the hot chic?”

Kiros, “Bow down, fool!” as he pulls Cid to his knees.”

Reno steps away so the woman can star at Sephiroth. The angel cowers before her. She lays a gentle hand on his shoulder, helping him up. Sephiroth just stands there in awe. She embraces him. Sephiroth is so overcome, he weeps joyfully. She steps away from Sephiroth, glancing at Reno.

Reno addresses Cid, Kiros, and Laguna, “ I suggest anyone not of the ethereal plane to cover their ears.”

Laguna and Kiros hold Cid down, hugging his head so his ears are covered.

Sephiroth, “ Thank you.”

The woman turns back to stare at Sephiroth. Her expression hardens as she opens her mouth. The sound that comes out is loud and mind blowing. It is sound of many horns sounding at once. A sonic boom is created from one song alone. Sephiroth’s head and chest explode. His body drops to the ground. Kiros and Laguna finally let Cid go.

Reno looks at his outfit, “ When will it ever end?!” as he grabs some of the woman’s dress to try to remove the blood from his suit. Then catches himself and lets the cloth go. “ Sorry.”

Cid, “ What the fuck just happened? Why did his head explode?!”

Reno, “ Quite a dirty mouth, eh?”

The woman nods.

Cid, “ Why isn’t she talking? I know I can still hear cause I hear myself speaking!”

Reno, “ Just gaze into her yes. All your answers lie that.”

Cid, “ What the fuck? You people are all fucking crazy! I want someone to tell me what happened!”

The woman stands infront of Cid. He looks into her eyes and freezes. His expression softens and he begins to smile. Woman smiles back at him, kissing him on the lips. As she walks away, Cid falls onto his back with expression of bliss. The woman then moves to the street and looks at the chaos. She exhales a long deep breath and, in blink on an eye, all the bodies and chaos is gone.

Reno points at his clothes, “ You missed a spot!”

Laguna, “ Where was she all this time?!”

Reno, “ Imprisoned in a body nearby. Tifa figured it all out on her own. That girl is rather smart.” Looks at Kiros, “ Time to go.”

Kiros gets up, ”I think it is time to discuss some changes.”

Reno, “ Later, kay? “ Looks at Laguna, “ Well, seeing you had to meddle in this, you can also come back.”

Laguna, “ I do miss it up there alot. Plus, I wanna help Kiros with his campaign. First, I wanna say goodbye to Tifa. Where is she?”

Silent Vincent walks across the street with expression of pure angst as he carries the lifeless form of Tifa. Tears run freely down his face.

Kiros, “ Oh man... “

Laguna, “ Reno, is she.. is she dead?”

Reno nods, “ The one serious drawback of martyrism, you have to die. But That shall be taken care of now.”

Laguna, “ How is she going to be fixed?”

Reno, “Like pressing a resent button on your Playstation.”

The woman rolls up her sleeves and rubs her hands together. Then puts her hands over Tifa’s wounds. Tifa snaps awake, gasping for air. She looks up at Reno.

Tifa, “ But... I was dead! How did I... ?!”

Reno, “ She can rebuild you. She has the power. She can make you faster, stronger, smarter...”

Tifa looks at the woman who smiled hed heads off to shed her clothes for some shirt silver dress.

Tifa, “ That is God?”

Reno nods, “Yes. We are both proud of you. I knew you would come around. Your kind always does.”

Kiros, “ Even Jesus was a hard one to convince.”

In background God is trying to do headstands, her

Reno snaps at Kiros, “ Must you ruin the magic of everything!” then turns to Tifa, “Take care of yourself. We are going to be needing you again.”TifaTifa smiles, “ Because I am the last Scion.”

Reno shakes his head, “ That is half right, “ as he pats her stomach, “ You Were the last Scion.”

Tifa almost losses her breath, “ I.. I am pregnant?”

Reno, “ I can’t sneak anything past you. Now you take care of this baby.”

Tifa smiles and touches her stomach. The woman taps her shoulder.

Tifa, “ Thank you! There are so many things i want to ask you. I also don’t want to be arrogant. There is just one that I really wanna know. Why are we here?”

The woman smiles and touches Tifa on the noise before turn on heel and skipping inside the church. Only message in her head: Plastics

Reno, “ I told you she had quite a sense of humor.”

Tifa rubs her noise and then laughs, “ Yes she does.”

Laguna goes to Tifa, hugging her, “ You did great, girl, I am very proud of you. You be good because I’ll be seeing in ain a couple years.” Adds with a smile, “ See? I told you God was a woman.”

Laguna goes to join Reno and God.

Kiros puts a hand on Tifa’s shoulder, “She is not a man or woman. She is not really anything you can describe.”

Tifa, “ She is something special. Something wonderfully comforting.”

Kiros, “ Over that Crisis of faith?”

Tifa laughs, “ I have too much of it now.”

Kiros, “ So do you believe?”

Tifa, “ No. But I have a pretty good idea.”

Kiros hugs her, “ That's my girl. You know, the man was right about you. I think I’ll go him myself. “ Joins the others going back to heaven, “ And I’ll pout in some good word for you two stoners!”

Silent Vincent, “ Thanks,” gets elbowed by Cid.

God, Reno,, Laguna, and Kiros disappear into a cloud of smoke.

Cid after a long pause, “You know.. she is one hell of a kisser. I got half a woody by just one kiss alone!”

Tifa shakes her head, “ Cid!”

Cid, “ I can’t help it! She is sexy as hell!”

Tifa, “ You two are going to have to behave because I am going to be someone’s mother soon.”

Cid, “ Oh really? Cool!””

The three walk away from the church because Cid speaks again.

Cid, “ You know chics can have sex till the third trimester?”

Tifa, dryly, I’ll keep that in mind.”

The sun starts to set in the world once more.
