Mutation - Chapter 8
Kadaj was angry, Yazuu was relieved, and I was alive. Life is damned good.
Kadaj has be pouting and venting for the past week. Of course I haven’t made it and better by taunting him every chance I get. I’m surprised that we haven’t gotten into a big fight so far. That disappoints me, I was hoping to go a couple rounds with him. Just to see how I compare to him now.
Yazuu managed to get stuck baby-sitting Tifa’s twins tonight. I nearly ended up joining him, but thankfully Icarus volunteered. He really enjoys taking care of them when he can.
I decided to take this opportunity to go out tonight. It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to go clubbing.
Dressed in my black leather pants, a deep purple bodice, and a small silver cross necklace, I was ready to go. I walking into the main part of the bar, where everybody was, and Kadaj was the first to notice.
“Going out whoring tonight,” he sneered.
I crossed my arms and smirked. “You wish. Since it’d be the only way you’d have any chance of being with me.”
Icarus giggled, still playing with the twins, and muttered, “Good one, Damon.”
Yazuu looked up as Kadaj sputtered and scowled. “You are not going out dressed like that, when I can’t go out with you.” He pouted all cutely, like he does when he’s trying to guilt me.
I pouted right back, then moved to straddle his lap. “Let me go out like this, and I promise I’ll make it up to you when I get back tonight.” I nuzzled his cheek and slipped my arms around his neck.
“But Damon,” he whined back at me. So I started nibbling his jaw line. “Fine, alright! You win. But it had better be damn good.”
I smiled, “I’ll do anything you want when I get home.”
His eyes widened slightly, then he smirked, “That a promise?”
I smiled, sitting back to draw a cross over my heart. “It’s a promise.”
He leaned in for a deep kiss, so I made sure to give him allot of tongue. In the background I heard Kadaj making gagging noises. I was about to start putting in a better show, when something hit the back of my head.
“Hey!” I pouted, turning around to see the offending stuffed animal on the floor.
Icarus was glaring at me with his arms crossed. “Not in front of the twins.”
“Alright,” giving Yazuu another quick kiss before hopping out of his lap.
I barely heard what Kadaj had mumbled. So I turned and pounced on him. He was taken by surprise, and I manages to roll him over before he could fight back. I flicked the back of his head, then was off him and out the door.
Jingling the keys to his bike in my hand, I chuckled. I’ve been wanting to take it out for a spin. I revved the engine before taking off. Kadaj running out the door just in time for me to hear him yelling at me. Promising, once again, that he was going to kill me.
I was so going to suffer the consequences when I got home. But it’s already worth it. Maybe I could sneak in mine and Yazuu’s bedroom window before Kadaj notices. Then I could wait until morning before facing the Wrath of Kadaj.
A quick stop by my old place, which I still had for some reason, and I picked up a couple things I needed for the night. After that, I headed for the first club of the night, Gravitation. It’s more of an underground club, but I’ve always been able to get in. The music’s always loud and the latest stuff. Perfect for dancing all night long. The dance floor is surrounded by railing, with a couple of platforms and cages for dancing in. Strobe lights, colored neon and black light flicking in near random patterns. Dark corners perfect for making out in. Large booths, private rooms, and even two bars set up for those who don’t want to dance. Not to mention this place allows only the most gorgeous collection of eye candy around, through it’s doors.
I definitely turned a few heads, and caught a couple eyes as I pulled up. Once parked, I headed right to the front of the line. The bouncer and I have been friends for a couple years, so I got in right away.
Once inside, I slipped though the crowd towards the bar. As I waited for my drink, I was ambushed by a couple people. They slipped up on either side of me, one slipping his arm around my waist. The other leaned his arm on my shoulder.
“Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Seems like out little star, Nova, has returned.” The one handing around my waist quipped.
The other guy chuckled, “Indeed. And just look at his hair,” he mussed it a bit, and I whapped his hand away.
“What’s so terrible about my hair?” I looked at each of them, arching a brow.
“Nothing. It’s just so, so...” the second gut started.
“So shiny, and light!” The first finished, now fingering my hair.
“Alright, so my hair is a bit different. Now stop trying to fondle me.” I slipped out from between then when my drink came.
The first one scoffed, “Us, fondle you? Whatever are you implying?”
“I’m not implying anything, Sky. But I am, infact, accusing the both of you of the dirty little thoughts I know you’re having.” I smirked, taking a sip of my drink as I glanced from Sky to Flinte. I’ve known the two of them since I started coming here a few years back. I had my suspicions that one or both of them fancied me, but that was short lived. I played oblivious to any advances, plus I think they gave up on me after I first caught a glimpse of Yazuu. They hooked up shortly after they learned I had my eye on somebody.
Sky pretended to look hurt, pouting in that adorable way he does. Flinte took one look at him and laughed. “Come off it Sky. We both know you’ve been trying to get down his pants since the first time you laid eyes on him.”
Sky frowned, “I’m not the only one!” He said, sticking his tongue out at Flinte.
“Finally.” I cut in. “The truth comes out! I always had my suspicions about the two of you. Now I know both of you’ve been wanting to jump me.” I chuckles as they both looked guilty. Then I turned and rubbed my hand over my bum. “Tell me truthfully, it’s because I have such a sexy ass. Isn’t it?”
Sky’s jaw dropped, and Flinte rolled his eyes. “Put it away Nova. Before you give Sky a nose bleed.”
I chuckled and turned back to them. “Right, I forgot you’d rather have Sky’s blood flowing to other...” I glanced down at Sky’s crotch, then back up at Flint, “...places.”
Sky smacked my arm in protest. “Now who’s having dirty thoughts?” Sky trying to look indignant, as I just laughed.
“Well, he’s got a point there Hun,” Flinte added. Sky glared at him, then smacked his arm as well.
“Awe, it’s cute to see the two of you are still together.” I smiled at them. Flinte slipped his arm around Sky’s shoulders, as he cuddled right up to him.
“Yup, it’s been three years now,” Sky purred.
Then Flinte asked, “So when are you going to find somebody steady to settle down with?”
I knew he was only joking, so they were going to be surprised with my news. I held up both my hands to show off the fact that I had given one of my parent’s rings away.
Sky’s eyes went wide as he grabbed my hands to take a better look at them. Flinte whistled and smiled, “So who’s the lucky guy? How long ago did this happen? And when do we get to meet him?”
Sky nodded in agreement, “Yeah, what he said.”
I smiled, “You remember that guy I was talking about before you two hooked up?” They nodded as I continued, “It’s him. His name is Yazuu, and we’ve been together for almost a year now. I gave him my father’s ring a week ago.”
Flinte crossed his arms, “Then what are you doing here by yourself?”
“He’s babysitting twins tonight for a friend. Now before you jump all over me for not being there to help him, Icarus volunteered to help. You wouldn’t believe how good he is with them.”
We chatted for a bit longer before heading towards the dance floor. Eventually the three of us ended up in one of the cages, and for some reason I would up in the middle of them. I could tell they were going to get one of the private rooms for themselves soon. I was about to say something to them about it, when a flash of silver hair caught my eye. So he did decide to hunt me down.
I discretely pointed him out to Flinte and Sky, letting them in on a little plot I was working on. Still between the two, I leaned back against Flinte’s chest, raising my arms up and back to wrap around his neck. Sky pressed up against me, resting his hands on my shoulders as he leaned in to kiss Flinte. I rested my head on Flinte’s shoulder, the two of them grinding against me as we continued to dance.
I rolled my head to the side to look for Kadaj. I found him right away, near the bar, he was watching us. I smiled slyly at him, then licked me lips before blowing him a kiss. I just barely caught his glare before I turned my attention back on the other two. Informing them of the need for a private room, we were let out of the cage. Flinte and Sky were all over each other as we headed to talk to the bouncer of the private rooms. We got a key, then headed into the back.
I smirked to myself as I sensed Kadaj following. He certainly was going to be in for a surprise. Flinte and Sky had gotten their own room, which I am sure they are making good use of right now. I paid for my own room. Giving the bouncer instructions to give the guy with silver hair a key when he asked. Telling him that he would be joining me in a moment. Once I was in the room, I sat in once of the chairs facing the door. The room smelled of sex, with a king sized bed that was freshly made. The decor lent to the purpose of the room, with dark colors, dim lighting, and sturdy furniture. It was five minutes before I heard the door unlock, there was a moment’s hesitation before Kadaj burst in yelling.
“Damon! What the fuck do you think you’re doing? You dirty....” He stopped dead in his tracks, when he realized I was the only one in there.
“Let me guess,” I smirked at him. “You were going to say whore?”
If you paid attention, you could almost pin point the exact seconds he went from angry, to pissed off, to furious, to ‘you are so going to die now!’ He lunged at me, ready to tear me to pieces, but I was expecting it. I raised my leg to kick him in the stomach, forcing the air from his lung and dropping him to his knees. He gasped a few times to regain his breath, during which I leaned forward and grabbed his face, forcing him to look at me.
“Before you do anything else, just listen for a minute.” He tried to pull away, but I held him in place. “We all know you hate me, and lord knows that I haven’t done anything to make things easier. Hell. I admit that I’ve even purposefully taunted you. But things have got to change before we end up killing each other, and Yazuu is left with nobody.”
The last part made him consider things more carefully. I let his face go and waited for his response. He sat back and glared at me. I was sure he was coming up with the best way to kill me and make it look like an accident, when he huffed, “Fine.” He crawled into an empty chair, crossing his arms and glaring at me. “What so you suggest we do?”
“We could try and talk about this,” he looked skeptically at me. “Or we could beat the living daylights out of each other. Go home broken and bruised, have Yazuu yell at us for being idiots, then have him take the peroxide to both of us.”
Kadaj shuddered, “Alright. Point made. What do we talk about?”
“We could start with why you hate me.” Might as well get the biggest issue out of the way.
“You’re taking my family away from, me.” He pouted unintentionally and looked at his feet. “Yazuu doesn’t need me anymore now that he has you.”
I sighed and shook my head. “Yazuu is always going to need you, you’re his brother.” He shook his head, so I continued. “You have been in his life from the beginning. He would do nearly anything for you. He helped you almost destroy the planet just because you asked him to.” He still didn’t seem convinced, so I continued. “Kadaj, even with everything you’ve done to me in the past five months, he still loves you and needs you.”
He winced at this, then murmured, “He said he hates me. It was last week, when you were unconscious after attacking me. We both though you were dead.”
I nodded slowly, remembering the moment when I regained consciousness. “Yazuu doesn’t hate you. He’s just angry, and I’m included in his anger as well. You and I both are at fault for hurting Yazuu because of what we’ve done to each other. Which is why we’re here right now, so we can start making it up to him.” He nodded in agreement. “As for trying to steal you’re family from you, I’m insulted you’d accuse me of that. I know better then anybody what it’s like to loose my whole family, and I wouldn’t wish that pain and suffering on anybody, least of all you.”
“You lost your parents, it’s not the same as loosing a sibling.”
“Actually, I did loose a sibling.”
“Oh?” Kadaj looked up at me, arching a brow. “I thought you said you were an only child.”
“I am, at least the only born child. My mother was seven months pregnant when they died. I’ll never know if I would have had a little brother or sister.”
Kadaj was silent a moment before speaking softly. “You must blame us for that.”
I shook my head, “No. I blame a corrupted president who use excessive force to deal with an over zealous activist group. A president who was killed by your relative, Sephiros. If anything, I should be thankful towards you.”
“You mean you don’t hate us for that?” I knew he was wondering how I felt about him.
“No, of course not. You weren’t around at the time it happened.” I took a deep breath, “and before you ask, when you did try to destroy the world, I didn’t think much of it at the time.”
He looked puzzled, “Well, why not. If we would have succeeded, you’d be dead now.”
“We all would be dead now. I didn’t see the point in worrying over it at the time. If I’m suppose to die, I’ll die. If not, then there is no point in spending my days thinking if that day will be my last or not. I can’t live like that.”
“So that’s part of the reason you attacked me....” He was not searching for some answers of his own.
“Yes, though I certainly hadn’t planned it that way. You know I’ve never been afraid of you, just the things you could do to me. So when I saw you weren’t fighting back against me, I snapped. I was furious that you weren’t even fighting back, when I had fought so hard against you.” I closed my eyes to stop the tears that threatened. “I was angry that you were just going to allow yourself to become a victim, when I had no choice.”
I paused for a moment to take a breath. “Living on the streets for so many years, there have been many who tried to victimize me. I was lucky enough to escape them and learn how to defend myself. Then you came along, and everything I learned didn’t matter. You easily make me your victim. Then when the tables are turned, you just as easily give in to becoming the victim.” I had to stop there.
“What do you want me to say?” Kadaj snapped with not much conviction. “Do you want me to give you some excuse?”
“No! I don’t want you to say anything or give me excuses for it. It would mean nothing. The truth is, I am sorry for what I did to you. I shouldn’t have taken it so far. Now with that said, if I had the choice to go back and do things differently, I probably wouldn’t.”
“What?!” Kadaj barked, obviously surprised. “Why the hell not?”
I snapped my eyes open and glared at him. “You really want to know?” He nodded, sinking back into his seat a bit. “Fine. Truth is, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do to you. All I knew is that I wanted to make you suffer for what you did to me.”
“I can understand the reasoning for that,” he nodded slightly. “But I don’t understand why you wouldn’t do things differently.”
“The reason for that is simple, If I wouldn’t have done what I did, I would have done something different. Most likely it would have left you in worse shape then you were.”
He fell silent, and I could tell he was imagining what else I could have done to him. “So where does that leave us now?”
I shrugged, “I don’t know. I’m not going to pretend that everything can be forgotten. But if you are willing, we could call a truce.”
“Why should I agree to that?”
“One reason.... Yazuu.”
He looked as though he was considering it, but wasn’t too sure.
“Look, you don’t have to like me, just stop trying to kill me.”
He snorted, “awe, but that’s one of my favorite pastimes.” He chuckled with a sly smile.
I chuckled with him, “True, but now I can give just as good as you can. Of course the occasional fight is inevitable.”
“That’s good,” Kadaj chuckled. “Since I don’t think I’d be able to leave you alone. Sometimes it’s as though you are begging for a good smack.”
“Yeah, well sometimes you just beg to be taunted,: I paused, then chuckled. “Alright, more like smacked back, but at the time, taunting was the best I could do.”
“If you’re not careful, I’ll end up beating you up right here and now,” he pouted and crossed his arms.
“Okay, shutting up now.” I reached into my pocket to pull out the keys, handing them back to Kadaj.
He took them, then looked at me. “A truce, eh? Guess I could give it a try.” He stood and headed towards the door, stopping before heading out. “You coming?”
“You going to give me a ride home?”
“Sure,” he shrugged. “Unless you’d rather stay here and join your friends.” He gave an evil grin.
I hopped up, “As tempting,” I paused. “Actually, that’s not even tempting at all.” I moved to follow Kadaj, “I’d rather be back home with Yazuu.”
He chuckled and smirked, “Good answer.”
With that, I followed him out, stopping long enough to leave a message with one of the bouncers, for Flinte and Sky. Apologizing about bailing so early, and that I’d call them later.
Once outside, I mounted the bike behind Kadaj. After I slipped my arms around his waist to hold on tight, he took off.
We left quite a few people more then a little jealous of us.
