Cloud was standing by the windows at the far end of his hotel room at Gold Saucer. He watched as the heat lightning periodically manifested itself, adding to the uneasiness that already blurred his thoughts. Cloud was little practiced at being introspective, but even he recognized his feelings of complete inadequacy. His life was spinning out of control and he had no idea how to reclaim direction. To make matters worse, it appeared that this rag-tag collection of people, animals, talking cats, and a stuffed Toysaurus expected him to lead them to the Promised Land – perhaps literally. And he had no idea where it lay!
The spiky haired young warrior turned in surprise when he heard a knock upon his door. Cloud, still burdened by his thoughts, took his time in crossing his large hotel room, which obviously made the knocker impatient. The door flew open when he was only halfway across the room and Cloud stopped short, silently berating himself for not having locked the door.
But his irritation was interrupted when the beautiful, but virginally shy, Aeris stepped boldly into his hotel room and closed the distance between them. She appeared flushed and excited for some reason known only to her. Cloud wondered what had brought her to his room. He hoped that there wasn’t some difficulty with someone in their party that he would be expected to solve or correct.
Aeris, recognizing the inappropriate seriousness on the young man’s countenance for what she had in mind, giggled. Her green eyes glimmered in the dim light as she gave Cloud a sideways glance from behind the hand that demurely covered her bewitching smile.
Cloud was completely perplexed by the young beauty’s quixotic behavior. Wrongly assuming something to be amiss, asked, “What’s wrong?”
Aeris flushed a slightly deeper tone of pink at his question, but gave no explanation. Totally ignoring his question, she instead asked, “You want to go on a date?”
The question further confused the blond mercenary, who rather dumbly asked, “What?” Cloud’s mind always seemed to go slightly numb when dealing with Aeris. This malady was often accompanied by a racing heartbeat very much like the one hammering away in Cloud’s chest at this very moment.
“A DA-TE!” She drawled in a slightly mocking yet flirtatious manner. “Or have you never gone on one?” the beautiful young woman asked, the excited tone of her voice increasing.
“No, not a real one,” Cloud shyly admitted. He felt the heat of an embarrassed flush creep over his face and he averted his gaze to the floor hoping she wouldn’t notice.
Warmth filled her chest at Cloud’s confession, and her eyes appeared to sparkle all the more. ‘No, just a mixed-up kid,’ thought Aeris. “Oh, well. Come on, let’s go!” she exclaimed, while literally pushing him from his hotel room. Cloud only half-fought Aeris’ forcefulness, for in truth he wanted to go on a date with her although he could barely admit that even to himself.
Within minutes Cloud found himself standing next to Aeris in front of the ticket window for the cable car, which would take them on a ride high above all of Gold Saucer. He shuffled his feet in uneasiness and gazed everywhere but at his lovely date. Cloud’s eyes finally found a seemingly safe resting place on the name badge of the attractive red-haired ticket seller. Over and over, his eyes traced the gold letters of the script forming the name ‘Alecia’ until he realized that the badge was placed directly over one of the ticket seller’s very large breasts. Swallowing a strangled cough of shame, Cloud looked over at Aeris who was staring at him with a bemused and expectant expression.
Aeris watched as Cloud blushed again and began fiddling with a rip in his shirt. Realizing he was not going to perform his manly duty of buying the tickets Aeris spoke up. “Two, please.”
She placed the money for the tickets on the counter but the ticket seller smiled and reminded her that all the rides were free for the evening. After tearing off two tickets from an extremely large roll, she handed them to the young Cetra. “Here you are, two tickets. Enjoy the sights of Gold Saucer.”
Aeris and Cloud crossed from the ticket window to where they would wait to board the cable car. Aeris handed their tickets to a man, who helped them board the gondola. The compartment swung gently as they took their seats and made themselves comfortable. It would be their temporary housing for the thirty minutes, as it slowly wended its way through all of the extraordinary amusement park.
The two young people, looked for all the world like any other couple out on a Friday evening and not members of a revolutionary group that was challenging the might of Shin-Ra, Incorporated. No longer were they a mercenary and a flower seller from the Midgar slums but a happy pair out on their first date. The freedom of the night off created a feeling of light-heartedness that made them both smile.
They observed their new surroundings, several times their eyes met briefly before shyly glancing away. Neither could think of anything to say to break the silence that hung between them. Aeris jumped slightly when the Gold Saucer employee shut the door with a metallic clang and then latched it for safety purposes.
The long line of cable cars moved with a slight lurch, as they started on their journey through Gold Saucer. Aeris, who was sitting across from Cloud managed to catch his eye again and smiled at him. The young mercenary looking as befuddled as ever at this surprising recent turn of events opened his mouth as if to speak and then suddenly turned to peer out the window. Sighing in frustration, Aeris also turned to view the sights.
‘Speed,’ as Gold Saucer’s giant roller coaster was known, raced by them heading for its final destination that lay in the opposite direction. “Wow, how nice!” Aeris exclaimed with genuine enthusiasm. Cloud smiled slightly but appeared lost in thought again.
“Oh! Look, Cloud,” Aeris pointed out, as the cable car took the young couple up by one of the large curves on the Chocobo race track. Six Chocobos of different colors thundered by them with the cheering of the crowd being faintly heard in the distance. They were both startled by the shrieks and explosions of the nightly fireworks display. The night sky was filled with a myriad of colors that Cloud and Aeris watched in silence.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” inquired the young woman, finally breaking the silence.
“Yes,” agreed Cloud, but he was no longer looking at the display. He was instead watching the colors play upon her features and reflect in the pools of her eyes. He observed as Aeris’ ordinarily cheerful expression change slowly and become suffused with sadness. She was quiet for a long moment before finally turning her head to look directly into his eyes. Cloud felt discomforted as an aura of seriousness overtook their car. The explosions of color outside their window went ignored as the young couple stared at each other, unspeaking.
Finally she spoke as if she was continuing a conversation already in progress. “First off, it bothered me how you looked exactly alike. Two different people, but look exactly the same. The way you walk, gesture…I think I must have seen him again, in you.” Aeris shook her head. “But you’re different, things are different.”
Aeris leaned forward and grasped Cloud’s hand. She realized that he had tensed up immediately at the slightest touch from another human being. “Cloud,” Aeris murmured, “I’m searching for you.” Cloud’s handsome features reflected nothing more than his confusion and total lack of understanding of his date’s last statement.
Despite that or maybe because of it, Aeris continued. “I want to meet you.”
Not understanding any of the implication of her plea, Cloud insisted, “But I’m right here.”
The beautiful young woman responded, “I know… what I mean is… I want to meet…you.” With that said and still no response from the spiky-haired young man, Aeris leaned forward and lightly kissed Cloud on the lips.
“Aeris,” Cloud murmured in a half-hearted protest.
Aeris shook her head in answer. “I’ve thought this all out. It’s what I want more than anything, or don’t you care about me, Cloud Strife?”
‘Don’t you know I do?’ Cloud thought, but he answered naught; at least not with words. Instead the handsome young man opted for returning her kiss, although more passionately. It appeared that this was the only signal Aeris needed, because, half arising, she crossed the short distance to his side. The young woman sat beside him and enveloped him in her loving embrace.
“Oh Cloud.” Aeris sighed. “I do love you so.” Feeling him immediately stiffen at her affirmation of caring, she sought to relieve him of any responsibility concerning her feelings. “Cloud, I understand,” she murmured. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t love me right now. Perhaps you will some day.” Although she tried to sound happy, there was an undeniable note of anguish in her voice.
Cloud shook his head. “You’ve gotten it all wrong, I do love you. I’ve loved you since the first time I saw you that day in Midgar.” His words sent Aeris’s heart soaring. A short gasp of surprise escaped her lips even as Aeris pressed her fingers to her own lips. Although up to this time he had done nothing to indicate that he held these feelings for her, Aeris made a willing choice to believe him.
Regardless of that, she still just had to ask him, “Why didn’t you let me know?” Aeris rested her head on Cloud’s broad shoulder as he answered slowly, “Everything is just so crazy and confused right now. I’m… so confused myself, concerning so many things – how could I ask you to trust that… to trust me.”
Aeris lifted her head and stared straight in Cloud’s beautiful blue eyes and felt as though she could become lost in their depths. “Oh, you silly man,” she replied gently. “Trust is of the mind and is earned slowly. Love is of the heart and is given freely… unconditionally.”
As if to back up her statements, Aeris began to kiss him feverishly. He began to return her kisses in like kind. She clutched him desperately as though she was in threat of drowning. “Don’t ever let go of me,” the beautiful young woman pleaded.
“I won’t.” Cloud attempted to assure her, but Aeris knew better. She also realized he would have difficulty just hanging onto himself, much less her – through no fault of his own.
“I want you to love me,” Aeris requested.
“I do love you,” the young mercenary insisted.
“No, no,” she spoke slightly frustrated. “I want you to ‘love’ me.”
As Aeris’ true meaning finally became known to Cloud, his blue eyes became as large as saucers. “Aeris, are you absolutely certain?” Cloud could scarce believe what he was hearing. Aeris never ceased to amaze him. On the surface she seemed so pure, so childlike and then she would say or do something to make him feel like the innocent.
The young woman had the slightest bit of frustration and petulance evident in her tone, when she answered in the affirmative. “I’m not a child, you know.”
“I’ll say you’re not.” Cloud smiled.
Aeris shook her head sadly. “Cloud, don’t try to be who you are not,” she instructed rather cryptically. When she saw his face fall, she reached over and hugged him again. “Now,” was all she said.
Aeris allowed her sweet lips to brush his, until he began to return the favor in earnest. She understood if she didn’t take the initiative and instead left it to Cloud, nothing will have happened by the time the ride reached its conclusion. She reached down and unbuttoned her long dress beginning at the waist and not stopping until she had reached the bottom. Aeris then flipped the two parts of her dress open, offering to her lover’s eyesight the lower half of her body unencumbered with clothing.
“Aeris! You’re not wearing-.”
“Shhh!” she directed. “No use wasting time speaking of the obvious. Here,” she said, handing Cloud some protection. “Use this when the time comes.” Aeris ruefully realized this was nothing like those romance novels she used to devour rather than just read when she was a teenager. But then again, nothing else was quite as she was led to believe, why would this be?
As Cloud sat stunned and staring affixed at the part of Aeris’ body that could politely be called her lap. Aeris pulled here and tugged there until his uniform pants were unbuttoned and unzipped. She then dragged them and his underwear down to his ankles, leaving him in the same underdressed condition as she. Aeris decided that her would be lover had surely had little or no sexual experience, as he immediately hid his arousal by covering himself with his cupped hands.
“No, Cloud.” Aeris giggled. “The object of today’s lesson is not modesty,” she said, while pulling his hands away and then lovingly applied her mouth to the situation. A few moments later, Cloud moaned loudly.
“Oh, Aeris…” His body twitched beyond his control. Aeris looked up and smiled at him, and then moved back up into his arms and cuddled for a few moments. Cloud squeezed her close, unsure of what to do next. He wanted more but he feared she had changed her mind. Although she had initiated this, he still did not want to push her into anything.
Finally she spoke. “Cloud, we only have a short time left. I need to feel you inside of me, at least one time; please…” Aeris’ voice sounded almost pleading.
Cloud flushed crimson to the roots of his blond hair to hear Aerisak iak in such a fashion. “Uh Aeris…” he began to equivocate.
“This may be our only opportunity and we’re not going to waste it,” she interrupted. “Here, give me that,” Aeris demanded, pointing to the prophylactic Cloud still had absentmindedly clutched in his hand.
While the young man with the spiky hair sat wondering why his paramour thought this may be their only opportunity to be together, Aeris opened the package and rolled down the condom over his erection. The young woman then sat up, leaned over and placing her hands on his shoulders she stood up over him and then lowered herself down on to him.
“Oh… yes…” Aeris murmured. Leaning her upper body down over him, she kissed him. In response to her obvious pleasure Cloud began to move his hips. She gasped and clutched his shoulders. “Slow and easy now, slow and easy,” she instructed in what was barely more than a whisper made hoarse with passion. Cloud immediately complied with his ladylove’s request and moderated his thrusting accordingly.
Cloud had never known such bliss. Everything about Aeris was pure sweetness down to the soft song of pleasure tantalizing his ears and guiding him to the rhythm her body liked best. Bidden by his own need, however, Cloud found himself slowly taking control. He cradled her body in his arms and gently laid her back on the padded seat. Aeris made no move to fight this, and in fact she wrapped her lags around Cloud’s muscular torso to guide him closer.
“So beautiful…” he muttered softly, so filled with the tenderest feelings for his flower girl that Cloud barely realized he spoke aloud. Aeris’ whimpering became more impassioned with the words. Encouraged by her reaction, he spoke again. “My love…” he began, not knowing what else to say but hoping the words would flow. He was not able to speak further, however, for Aeris grabbed Cloud by the neck and drew him in for a fervent kiss. A few moments later, the cries of ecstasy could be heard commingled with their affectations of love.
“I love you so much, Cloud Strife,” Aeris declared as they basked in the afterglow of their joining. His head rested in the crook of her shoulder and she caressed his wild blond hair gently.
“I love ‘You,’ Aeris,” he managed to say.
“Don’t you lose your mind now,” she commanded playfully. Cloud smiled, nodded, and offered a closer embrace as his answer.
Later, when Aeris and Cloud entered the lobby of the Ghost Hotel, an aggravated appearing Tifa greeted them. Standing with her hands on her hips, she demanded, “And where have you two been?”
As the couple dreamily drifted by her, Aeris turned her head and answered, “We went on a date.” Tifa arched her eyebrow and scowled at their backs as they disappeared up the staircase.
