Cloud lay on his back staring out at the sky; the ground was cold underneath him he had no blanket since he had given his only one to Vincent, he looked to his right and saw him sleeping there with Nanaki curled up next to him. In a few days they would reach Corel, and then it would be off to the Gold Saucer for a weekend off. Cloud sighed and looked back up at the sky; at least the stars were more interesting than two people snoring. He could make out some of the constellations, but mostly he was looking for the one that he had made when he was in training for SOLDIER…the one winged angel…He never knew if it was always the same group of stars he looked at, but they always made the same picture. Cloud started to think of the first night that he had seen that group of stars.

“Hey, Cloud, you’ve got night duty with me! So get your ass out of bed, now!”

Cloud mumbled something incoherent and turned over in his bed hoping that maybe Zack could handle standing by a gate for six hours in the dead of night by himself.

“No way you’re getting out of it tonight!” Zack shook Cloud lightly, but only got a growl for a response. The 1st class SOLDIER sighed and started to tug at Cloud’s blankets, “I…*tug*…said…*tug*…NO!” The blonde let go of his blankets and curled up in a semi-circle for warmth, sending Zack stumbling backwards almost into another recruit’s bed, “Damn it, Cloud, you sleep like a fucking log!” That’s when Zack’s patience ran out; he took Cloud’s pillow and started to beat him in the head with hit until Cloud sat up yawning.

“What time is it…?” Cloud said rubbing his eyes and yawning as if he had just woken up to a light whisper and not a blow to the head. Zack had every intention to yell at the young recruit, but then he looked into those cute blue eyes and changed his mind.

“Need a fucking bullhorn to get you up…” Cloud looked at the ground blushing from shame, this made Zack feel bad so as a token of forgiveness he pounced onto Cloud and started to tickle him.

“No…*laugh*…stop please! *chuckle* Please, I promise I’ll wake up *laugh* next time…*laugh cough, cough*” Cloud began to cough from laughing to hard, alarmed Zack got off of him and started to rub his back.

“You ok?” Cloud nodded his head and smiled at Zack, Zack could feel the heat in his cheeks rising…damn Cloud was just too cute. Almost cuter than Aerith…if it weren’t for how happy Zack was with Aerith…he might try to see if Cloud…Zack’s thoughts were cut off by a light punch in the arm.

“I hope you didn’t wake me just to try to make me choke to death…” Cloud said as he stood up and started to get into his uniform, Zack smiled he knew how much Cloud hated that uniform…he also knew how proud Cloud had been when he first put it on.

“No…unfortunately you’ve been assigned night duty…And I’ve been assigned to watch you…” Zack watched Cloud get dressed from the corner of his eye, the kid was still a little skinny for his age, but at least he had bulked up somewhat.

“I don’t think it’s so bad…sure it’s cold and late…but…” Cloud finished putting on the uniform and smiled at Zack, “At least you’ll be there suffering with me.” That last comment put a big smile on Zack’s face…the truth was that he had asked to be on night duty with Cloud…and thankfully the General thought that Cloud needed some supervision. They began to walk to there post when Cloud shoved Zack to the left for no reason.

“What the hell was that for?!” Zack exclaimed with extreme confusion, but Cloud just smiled and took off in a run.

“YOU’RE IT!” The blonde yelled back at his commander, by the time they had reached there post Zack had been “it” 16 times and Cloud 24. Out of breath Cloud sank down to the ground next to Zack and leaned against the fence. “They’re pretty aren’t they?” Cloud asked as he followed Zack’s gaze to the star filled sky.

“Huh…oh…yeah, the stars are nice out today…” Zack smiled and Cloud kind of chuckled, “What you laughing at?” Cloud turned his head to look his superior right in the eye, Zack felt the blush creep up on him again and quickly avoided the glance. “You know where the constellations are?”

“Some…maybe three in all…I can find Orion, the Big Dipper, and Scorpio sometimes…How about you?” Zack leaned over close to Cloud and pointed up into the sky.

“Can you see…right there? I call that one the Flower Girl...” Cloud blushed and tried to see the picture.

“I…I can’t see it…come to think of it I’ve never even heard of that one…” He shot a quizzical look over at Zack, but all Zack did was smile and give a slight chuckle.

“That’s because I made it up…To hell with what everyone else sees…I see what’s important to me…” Cloud was about to ask why a flower girl was important to Zack, but was cut off, “Right there…that’s the one that reminds me of you.” He pointed his finger a little to the right. Cloud tried to see a picture but just couldn’t.

“What is it?” He was expecting something like a sloth or maybe just a trashcan…There’s no way that Zack actually considered him important enough to have really thought of a constellation for him.

“It’s…you…I see you, only you look like you have one wing…” Cloud and Zack were the same exact shade of red when Zack finished his sentence. Zack then took the arm he had been using to point out the stars with and hugged the blonde closer to him. “I guess you could call it the One Winged Angel…” Cloud had to say something…he was frozen…shock, disbelief; all of his emotions were stopping him from saying anything. He stared up at the place were Zack said the picture was…but he saw something different, it was a man with one wing, but he didn’t look like Cloud. He was taller, muscular, and had long hair…long silver hair…Cloud continued to stare…He was lost in the now full colored picture of General Sephiroth as the one winged angel when he heard Zack clear his throat…He thought of something to say fast.

“I guess it would be hard to fly with one wing…” Damn! That was so stupid, Cloud beat himself up inside about saying that, but then he noticed Zack was laughing…

“Yeah I guess you’re right…but…” He turned his head to look at Cloud, “…you do kind of look like an angel…” He gasped realizing what he had just said and took his arm off of Cloud and practically jumped five feet away. Cloud in his shock just sat there, for ten minutes they sat there watching to see if anyone would be stupid enough to try to come through the gate. Then Zack heard Cloud laughing lightly, angry (thinking that Cloud was laughing at him for his remark) he walked over to Cloud and looked down at him, “ What’re you laughing at!” Cloud looked at him in alarm because of the harshness in his voice, Zack felt like shit when his eyes locked with those brilliant sapphires. He didn’t mean to sound so angry.

“I..I was just laughing at what you said about the stars being pretty today…” Cloud looked down at the ground, waiting for Zack to yell at him, but instead he was hugged. (Zack had to do something he felt so bad watching Cloud)

“What’s so funny about that?” Zack asked as he stroked Cloud’s hair gently making the other boy blush slightly.

“Nothing…except that it’s night…if it were “today” then the only star we could’ve seen would be the sun.” Zack sighed and smacked Cloud in the back of the head lightly.

“You little know it all…” He looked down at Cloud, he was so beautiful with his blue eyes reflecting the mako in Zack’s eyes, his cheeks flushed from the cold, and his lips parted slightly. Before he knew what he was doing his lips were on Cloud’s. Cloud gasped slightly and jerked back from surprise, but Zack held him in his embrace steadfast and Cloud complied with the kiss. It had to have been the best kiss that Zack or Cloud had had ever! There tongues fought for dominance for a while before Cloud gave in and let Zack dip his tongue into his mouth triumphantly. Zack loved the way Cloud tasted, and tried his hardest to explore every inch of Cloud’s mouth, and Cloud was just as into the kiss as Zack. Then Zack looked up and saw the group of stars that he had named The Flower Girl staring down at him, he promptly broke the kiss.

“Wh-what did I do wrong?” Cloud asked trying to catch his breath from that amazing kiss.

“N-nothing…I’m sorry…I took advantage of you.” Zack started to walk away, but Cloud caught his wrist making Zack turn around he was blushing from shame of the act he just did.

“No, I liked it…I wanted it…” Cloud lowered his head as Zack jerked from his grip.

“You’re too young to know what you want…I’m…sorry…I have a girlfriend.” With that Zack walked away leaving Cloud to finish his guard duty, and after that nothing was said of the kiss.


Cloud sighed and rolled on his side to try to get more comfortable, he was drifting off to sleep when he felt something cover him up. He sat up and came face to face with Vincent. “Wh-what are you doing?” He stared into those blood red eyes, captured by the gorgeous hue.

“You’re shaking so we’re going to share the blanket…argue and you can just freeze to death…” Cloud tore his eyes away from Vincent’s and let him lay next to him and cover them both up…Cloud sighed contently and quickly fell asleep. Vincent lay awake just a little while longer than Cloud…looking down at the blonde with admiration in his eyes…”You tell anyone about this and I’ll kill you…” Nanaki simply just nodded his head and looked the other way as Vincent bent down and was about to kiss him but thought better of it and nuzzled Cloud on the cheek gently, earning a smile, the gunman wondered briefly who Cloud was dreaming of, but dismissed the question as obvious. A guy like Cloud would only fantasize about women, then wrapping his arms around the heavy sleeper drifted off to sleep himself…

All in all it was a peaceful night none of the three companions were bothered by dreams that they could remember, and none seemed to want to linger in their make shift camp site….and why shouldn’t they after all this little side trip was making each of their moods lighter. They had no idea if their comrades would make it to the Golden Saucer on the date that they had agreed upon. They were all to meet at the Ropeway Station in Corel, then head off to a weekend of fun…before they all went into the Northern Cavern.

As they were nearing Corel Cloud stopped and looked up into the sky, he smiled as he remember waking up this morning with Vincent’s arms around him. Sure it had been accidental, but that didn’t matter one bit.

“Cloud, is something wrong?” Nanaki looked up at him. Cloud smiled at him and shook his head, then continued to walk on not talking just being happy in his own little world.
