I do not own Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
ABSOLUTION
Note: First Final Fantasy fic, not my first ever fic, just to clear that up. Let me know if it's alright. I'm doing a RenoXOriginal Character for my friend because she wouldn't quit bugging me about making a fanfiction for her, so she picked that pairing. I just decided to run with it. Any questions just email me at lucia.d.slade@gmail.com or put them in a review.
By the way, Final Fantasy is not mine. However, the story line, the original characters and the ranking system are.

Chapter I
“This is Reno here. I’m about to make the drop to building SRC-3 in the L6 area, yo.” The red head waited for the affirmative. Nodding out of habit, he relied, “Roger that, yo. Descending.” The Shinra SOLDIER maneuvered the helicopter to the landing pad on the tallest deserted building in the forest. Turning in the pilot’s seat he faced his two passengers. “Alright Kyya, Duo, it’s all yours, yo.”
The two other subordinate SOLDIERs flipped him a salute before exiting, armored and guns in hand. “Be back in a jiffy, Reno.” Duo yelled over his shoulder.
Green eyes watched the operatives run across the snow covered roof top to the door leading inside. Skilled hands skimmed carefully across the machine’s controls, powering down the helicopter. Reno sat back in his chair and wrapped his knuckles against the glass of his left side window. ‘It’s been 49 years, 8 months and seventeen days since we last saw that silver haired…peon Sephiroth. That only leaves us with three months and thirteen days to figure out who his next vessel is.’
Emerald eyes slid open to half mast and gazed out to the dreary snow laden ground. Ice and a thin layer of snow graced the dark half green half dead forests. It was high noon and yet the day looked as the days before it had for nearly two centuries: miserable.
‘This is no way to live. The new generations don’t know anything about the simple feel of the warmth of the sun. And yet the older generation took granted that very same thing. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have to live like this. It’s just too bad that he was actually once one of us. SOLDIER. It’s an honorary title. And our duty is to protect, even if Mr. Shinra changed our objective from protecting just the Shinra Company to protecting the people of this planet from people like Sephiroth.’ Reno closed his eyes and rubbed his face with a hand as if he could wipe away all the stress for the last one hundred and forty-nine years.
‘Hopefully we can kill him for good this time and put him out of our misery. The information on Sephiroth should still be on the systems here. I wonder why we didn’t think of this before…’
“Reno?” Duo’s voice questioned through the radio’s ear piece.
“What’s wrong, yo?” He asked, slightly irritated at the brunet for interrupting his thoughts.
“How old are these computer systems…” suddenly the sharp click of a cocking gun came over the headset, “The fuck?!”
The pilot could hear his female fellow SOLDIER gasp before yelling, “What the hell is that!”
Reno sat up straight in his chair as both of those things happed almost at the same time, “Kyya, talk to me, yo!” The twenty-two year old pilot’s green eyes darted back and forth across the mechanisms and controls in the cockpit, not seeing any of his precious devices but trying to listen to the sounds on his friends’ side.
A good couple of rounds were shot off by both gattling guns. Return fire, but it sounded as they only hit other objects and no flesh. Gasping was heard over the radio, “We’re hot in pursuit!” Another series of shots were fired off and the clattering of books, carts and other much heavier things. There was a wet thud and the sound of something like a breathy growl then the music of armor vests and the gat guns shifting with the slight tap of their boots on the floor signifying the operatives’ light jog.
“Shit,” came Duo’s masculine voice panting heavily, “shit, shit, shit!”
“Where did it go?” Kyya asked in a strained whisper. What had they chased down?
“Duo, what the hell is going on in there?!” Reno barked into the headset, his laid back voice and signature ‘yo’ forgotten as he gripped the ear piece to his head tightly.
Before he could hear a reply something out in the snow covered field leading to the forests caught his eye. A black clad figure dashed through the thick white blankets with an ease like no other, a grey colored pelt of fur glistening around the shoulders, over the head and down its back. Almost as if the running form could feel Reno watching, it stopped just before the edge of the forest and abruptly turned, silvery blue eyes locking with emerald. The silvery snout of a wolf’s head covered everything save the eyes down. As the SOLDIER stared, his brain processed that the person was in fact female in the way she was standing with a hand resting on her hip and a suspicious looking black bag dangling from a dainty wrist. He watched as those full black marked lips smirked before turning and sprinting into the dark thick woods. Reno was yanked out of his ponderings by Duo’s voice.
“Reno, man…something’s wrong.”
“Well, yeah, that was apparent once you started shooting at something.” Reno growled out, not being able to help the sarcastic remark.
Duo, however, paid no attention to his superior’s caustic testimonial. “We-we can’t get into the database drive…” Wild tapping was suddenly accompanied by the sound that was always associated with an invalid code and then a simultaneous chorus of “fuck” erupted from both operatives.
Reno’s ears perked at the sound of a feminine gulp and Kyya’s voice, “Uh…Duo?”
“Wha-what the fuck…?” the male whispered in disbelief. The gattling cocked as he continued, “How the hell is that thing still alive?!”
The air of slow silence suddenly erupted with a feminine scream of anguish, “GET THE FUCK OFF ME!!” A struggle commenced with growling, hard breathing, cloth tearing and things clattering to the floor. “JUST SHOOT IT! DAMNIT, DUO! SHOOT THE FUCKER!!”
“I’m coming in damnit!” Reno yelled into the piece. A series of loud bursts exploded into the radio before a dull thunk was heard.
“That won’t be necessary. We got a body, Reno. What do you want us to do with it?” Duo panted, the sound was exhausting all on its own.
Reno let his fingers fly across the panels of buttons and gauges, prepping the aircraft for flight. As the engines began warming up, the blades started their rotation. “Duo, Kyya get you and your dead body’s asses up on my copter double time, yo.”
“This mission was a complete failure! Sephiroth himself couldn’t have crashed it so horribly!” Kyya ground her teeth into the radio moments later as she threw the roof door open, gattling gun trained and ready covering Duo as he toted a black furred body draped over his shoulder in a fireman’s carry. The helicopter just lifted as Duo threw the dead body onto the deck before letting Kyya heft him into the vehicle.
At a distance Reno deemed safe, weary green eyes watched as the SRC-3 building complex exploded. ‘And it was such a simple mission. What went so terribly wrong?’
