Full Throttle

The day beautiful as they raced their bikes through the desert. The wind was hot but yet the swift and graceful movements kept them cooled as they moved over the blazing sand. Loz turned with a grin on his face to see Yazoo laughing out of pure enjoyment of the experience. The younger of the two raising his hand to call forth the Shadow Creepers to run in chaotic bliss with them. Kadaj had finally come to ride parallel with his two older brothers. They darted around their younger brother teasing him with their skill on the bikes. Loz found a smile on his face as the other two laughed joyfully. It made his heart fill with happiness when they were back to laughing and playing unlike the strange melancholy silence and anger that hung in the air these days. Yazoo smiled before racing away from his brothers, an unspoken thought in his eyes. I love you. Loz noticed that his younger brother was headed for some rather rough ground but figured he could handle “Let’s follow him!” Kadaj yelled over the bikes excitedly. They had soon outpaced Yazoo and were passing him. Kadaj was laughing loudly. “We did it, we passed him!” Loz looked over his shoulder expecting to see Yazoo gaining ground on them in their game but his brother was not to be seen. He pulled over his bike quickly as Kadaj followed suit. “What’s the matter?”

Loz strained his eyes through the heat waves radiating from the ground. “Where’s Yazoo?”

A wave of fear ran through Kadaj’s body. “Yazoo? Yazoo!” He called out to the distance.

“Fuck, something happened.” Loz had spun his bike around and was backtracking as his younger brother followed him in haste. The brothers kept screaming Yazoo’s name out into the distance. They finally saw a cloud of dust rising up a few hundred yards ahead. “Yazoo…” Loz’s voice was already breaking with tears.

Kadaj already had tears flowing down his face leaving trails of dirt. The brothers raced to the scene as their hearts were aching. Yazoo laid on the road, his bike was crumpled into the rock. The middle brother was whining softly and panting. “Oh my Gods….”

Loz raced from his bike and tried to pick Yazoo up. His younger brother protested with a chilling scream. The eldest realized that Yazoo’s right leg had become trapped under a destroyed rock pile. The angle of it already betraying it’s fracture. They couldn’t leave Yazoo out here to get help, everyone was already looking for them. “Kadaj, I need you to hold Yazoo while I work on him.”

The youngest brother allowed the tears to fall down his face. “I can’t.”

Loz growled softly. “I need you to do this, Kadaj. We have to get Yazoo out of here.”

Kadaj’s chest heaved with quiet sobs as he settled behind his wounded brother. He felt his heart crush as he looked down upon Yazoo panting wildly. He gently began to stroke Yazoo’s hair. “Easy, easy.” The youngest continued to hush and soothe his brother as Loz planned what needed to be done.

The elder brother found a sturdy branch and began making a splint for their brother. He could feels his hands shaking from the intensity of Yazoo’s cries. He tore angrily at the leather straps of his outfit gathering lacing for the traction. Once he had fashioned a splint, he took a deep breath. He hated hurting Yazoo but there was no other way. Loz slowly moved towards his wounded brother.

Yazoo’s eyes widened and he began to pant jaggedly. “Loz…no…please…no.” Tears were steaming down those alabaster cheeks in torrents as his brother begged him to stop what had to be done.

“Yazoo.” Loz scooted close to his brother for a moment running his powerful hands down his tear-streaked face. “I love you and I would never hurt you but this must be done. Do you understand?”

Yazoo shook his head weakly. The brothers could see his paleness and the harshness of shock settling into his system. His chest was still heaving as Loz started to move towards the broken limb. “Loz!! Please!!” Yazoo’s scream tore Kadaj’s heart open as Loz lifted the rocks off of his brother. The eldest could feel tears pouring down his face as he saw Yazoo’s ragged leg bent underneath of the rock pile in a puddle of blood. Kadaj continued to hold and soothe his brother the best he could. Yazoo had begun to try to get away by clawing his way along the ground but the youngest held him fast. His sobbing whimpers killed them both inside but they held to their resolve. Kadaj noticed how Yazoo was unable to move the fingers of his right arm. Not another fracture, the youngest told himself. But he would take that over the other possibility of Yazoo being afflicted with a spine injury causing the lameness in his limbs. Another scream from Yazoo shook Kadaj from his thoughts as he quickly restrained his brother's left fist which was headed toward Loz. “You fucker!! Stop touching me!!” The middle child spat, his words fueled by agony.

“I love you, Yazoo.” Loz simply answered as he gently set the leg in the splint. Yazoo continued to thrash and call Loz every name he could think of in order to make the pain stop. Within a few minutes Yazoo had become completely uncontrollable, swinging at both of his brothers in exquisite pain. “Yazoo! We’re trying to fucking help you!” Loz and Kadaj both fended off the attacks of their middle brother until he lay panting in the dust, sobbing from the pain. “Are we done now?” Loz asked as he softly stroked his brother’s long hair. Yazoo whined in response. “The longer you do this the longer it is going to take me to fix this. I know it hurts, it probably hurts like fucking hell. I know, Yazoo. Let us get this done and we’ll be through with it, okay?” The youngest brother whined a response, neither positive nor negative. Kadaj gathered his head back into his lap and out of the reddish dust of the desert. The moment Loz put pressure on Yazoo’s injured limb his brother turned into a Shadow Creeper incarnate, thrashing and howling. “That’s it! I have fucking had it with you! I didn’t want to have to do this-” Loz stalked angrily to his bike and rifled through one of the bags producing a bottle and a rag. “but you’re not going to cooperate.” He snapped the lid off of the contained and shook some out onto the rag. The eldest stalked back to Yazoo and forced the rag over the nose and mouth. The man went wild trying to remove the chemical soaked rag from his face. “Hold that injured hand, we don’t need it getting worse.” Kadaj complied as he was awestruck my the slowing of Yazoo’s movement. Soon their brother just lay still and closed his eyes. “Why did I not think of that before?” Loz muttered as he returned to working on the splint. “I knew he would never hold still.”

“What the hell is that?” Kadaj asked, absently swiping away hair that dangled in his eyes.

“Oh.” The larger man smiled and displayed the bottle. “Engine cleaner.” He set down the bottle and twisted while pulling his brother’s leg until he heard a sickening snap. Now the limb looked much better than it had minutes ago. “When we kidnapped that couple a few weeks ago I had tried it out. You wake up with one hell of a headache though so we will need to find him real medication soon. “ Loz finished wrapping the last binging of the splint. “We’ll take care of his hands and any other injuries when we’re somewhere safer.”

“There is a village about a half an hour’s ride from here.” Kadaj pointed eastbound. “I say let’s go there.”

Loz shrugged. “Fine by me. I’ll take him on my lap and we’ll return for his bike later.” The powerful main scooped up his sibling lover and adjusted him on the seat . Yazoo’s head was lolling against Loz’s chest. “We’ve got to hurry.” With a signaling roar of the bikes the brothers headed to the next town
where they would seek help for their fallen brother.
