They had moved Rufus to a lodge in the mountains outside of Kalm and the ruins of Midgar. They being the Turks, the three men and one woman whose soul duty anymore was to guard Rufus Shinra and make sure he recovered.
The four weren't doing it for their paychecks anymore, especially since Rufus wasn't awake to sign said paychecks. No, each one had taken a part time job, guarding and taking care of their boss in shifts. They knew, though, that they'd drop the part-time job they'd taken in an instant if Rufus woke up.
Reno was the only not really working. He said it was because someone should always be at the lodge to make sure it was cared for and so if one of the other three were late someone was around to do guard duty. Tseng had tried ordering the red head to get a job while the other two had tried pestering him, but the red-head refused to budge an inch from Rufus' side unless it was to use the toilet or get some food.
Rude had given up without a fight, really. Elena had finally gotten tired of pestering the stubborn man. Tseng had finally let Reno talk him into the fact it was a good idea. So the other three Turks had jobs while Reno sat at home, sometimes cleaning, but most of the time watching the blond man he loved.
It was Reno who had contacted the doctor to diagnose Rufus with geostigma. It was Reno who acted nursemaid and changed catheters, diapers, IVs, and clothes, to give sponge baths, and to make sure bed sores didn't develop on top of things.
It was a long year and a half. A year and a half where most of the wounds healed, though he still needed a patch on his eye and there was a very nasty cut on his neck that needed to remain wrapped. A year and a half where the other three got close to giving up, Elena did, but stuck with them for moral support. A year and a half of waiting for Rufus Shinra to wake up so that everything could be recovered.
It was exactly a year and a half, right down to the minute, if anyone had bothered to check, when Rufus Shinra opened his eye to see Reno's red-hair as the Turk slept in a chair next to the bed. The blond didn't have to move much for the Turk to wake up; he sat up so fast Rufus thought he was spring loaded. Blue-green eyes searched the room for the cause of the disturbance before focusing on the man whose bedside he had haunted for a year and a half.
"You're awake," Reno said, despite having said this all along, Reno sounded surprised.
"Why are you sitting by my bed, Turk?" Rufus asked.
"You don't remember what happened?" Reno asked, confused.
Rufus focused, why was the Turk by his bed? "Sister Ray fired and then I saw missiles coming towards the office, then..." he trailed off, he couldn't remember.
"That happened a year and a half ago," Reno said gently. "You've recovered from most of the injuries, but the third degree burns to your eye haven't fully healed and shrapnel nearly severed your neck. You're only alive, I think, because of that Wutai girl who traveled with Strife back then, she was part of the rescue efforts, and the fact that they happened to focus the camera on her when they were taking you by on a stretcher. I saw you on the news and got Tseng, Elena, and Rude together."
"What about Meteor? Sephiroth?" Rufus asked.
"I'll tell you everything that happened as I know it, sir," Reno said. "The four of us pretty much assumed you dead when we saw that Diamond Weapon took a direct hit on your office, we knew you were up there watching Sister Ray. Well we didn't know what to do, after fighting Cloud and his group, they came to Midgar to stop Hojo who was going to fire Sister Ray again, we disbanded. I went to a bar to get drunk and while there saw you on the news." Reno looked at the man on the bed, straight in the eye, "To tell you the truth you looked dead, you weren’t moving, you were limp, it was only because someone said something about you being the last of the survivors, that I knew you were alive. I called Elena and ordered her to gather Rude and meet me at the refugee hospital in the slums, I was surprised to see Tseng with him, he wasn't awake when we disbanded. We patched you up and helped out at the hospital before we managed to smuggle you out of there and out here, the mountains outside Kalm and Midgar."
Reno talked fast, but he told the blond man about Sephiroth's defeat, about how the life stream rose up and engulfed Meteor, about the destruction of Midgar, about the building of Edge, and finally, "About six months ago, people started to come down with this strange disease, mostly people in Edge, but there's one or two in Kalm and some of the other areas, all survivors of Midgar, though. They call it geostigma, what we know if it is very little, but it's a symptom of alien matter invading the body, the body attempts to compensate, but goes overboard, attacking the individual as well. The only obvious sign of this disease is a blackening of skin which will start oozing black ooze from time to time. Three months ago I noticed a blackening of your right hand and called the doctor. You have geostigma, sir, there's no cure and as far as we know it's deadly, though no one has died from it, yet."
"So you tell me that I woke up, just to die?" Rufus said, he had listened carefully to Reno's story and hadn't interrupted, he'd get more information from the Turk later.
"HELL NO!" Reno shouted at him, shocking Rufus into silence. "Just because there's no cure, yet, doesn't mean that we are looking for one. When we gathered around your bedside a year and a half ago we all agreed you weren't dying before we did, and we plan to keep that promise."
Rufus was actually touched by Reno's statement. The loud, obnoxious Turk actually cared. "So what happens now?"
Reno was silent, debating, "That's up to you, I can call the others and they'll be here in an instant, they're at their part time jobs."
Rufus was silent, "And why aren't you with them?"
"Well not only does someone have to be here to guard you and take care of you at all times, but I absolutely refused to leave your bedside for anything other than the restroom and food, don't worry, I showered, too," the Turk said, throwing a joke on the end.
"So have you been sleeping with your head on my bed for a year and a half?"
"No, I was tired, you may not have known it, but you had a geostigma attack last night. I was up all night soaking up the ooze and making sure you didn't hurt yourself, I think I just closed my eyes for a moment this afternoon and didn't realize what had happened until you woke up. Normally I sleep on the couch over there," the Turk pointed behind him.
Rufus didn't understand what was warring inside him at the Turk's admission. On one hand he recognized pride for his employee on the other he recognized a foreign emotion that was a lot stronger and making his stomach feel funny, "Is nausea a symptom of geostigma?" he asked, curious.
"As far as we know, it's not," Reno answered looking at Rufus funny. "Are you sure it's nausea?"
Rufus was silent, at that. He had never felt a feeling like this before, and he had been nauseas before. "No, but my stomach feels funny," he said.
"It could be because you haven't had anything solid in it all the time you've been in a coma, but describe the feeling, exactly, and I'll see if there's anything I can do to take it away," Reno said.
"It feels like the walls of my stomach are..." he paused, thinking of the right word, "fluttering, it's not like the gnawing pain of hunger."
"Permission to speak and act freely, sir?" he asked.
"When have you ever cared," Rufus asked, making a nodding motion, which was difficult from his laying position.
"You'd be surprised," Reno barely whispered before pressing his lips against Rufus'.
The blond man's eye opened wide, a little pain on the left side of his face told him that the other eye had also widened, but he could only see darkness out of it. Thinking about it, he decided that the sensation of Reno's lips against his felt good, and decided he wanted to feel it more. His right hand snaked up and gripped the red-head by the back of his head pushing him closer as he moaned.
Rufus was in for another new sensation as Reno's tongue snaked out of his mouth and into his. His eyes widened for a second time as the tongue stroked his own. It felt good, though, so he went with it, following the tongue around his own mouth and into Reno's. A hand was pressing down on the mattress next to his head and another was under his shirt stroking his sides.
There was a tingling sensation in his pants, one he had only felt when Scarlet had shoved her tits in his face, but this was nothing like that. This feeling made his pants feel tighter. Reno had climbed up on the bed and was straddling his younger boss.
"I know some good get well medicine," was all the red head said before he sank down, pulling the sheet with him. Rufus looked down to see he was clothed in simple white pajamas with a pale blue pattern on them. Reno had pushed the shirt up a bit and was pulling down his pants. In place of underwear the blond was embarrassed to find an adult diaper in their place. With expert hands the red head removed the diaper before wiping his erection with a wet wipe. Rufus didn't know what embarrassed him more, the fact that he had to use a diaper or the fact that the red head removed it with a practiced ease that told him who had been his nurse while he was comatose. Reno threw everything in the trash before engulfing the Rufus' slightly flagging erection in his mouth.
A tongue that had so tortured his mouth was now circling around his cock and licking the vein on the underside of it. Rufus was shocked at how good Reno was at this, what ever this was. Reno bobbed his head, swallowing around the erection in his mouth. "REno," the blond moaned, putting emphasis on the first syllable of the red-head's name. In response the red-head hummed around Rufus sending vibrations through the sensitive organ. Because of his inexperience with this kind of situation Rufus didn't last long, in fact after the humming, Reno had pulled up and then flicked his tongue around the head in a twisting move Rufus was seriously thinking was impossible before flicking it across the slit and head. Rufus cried out as he came straight into Reno's mouth.
The red-head didn't blink an eye as he swallowed and came up, grabbing some more wet wipes and cleaning Rufus up before putting another diaper on the younger and saying, "Call me if you need me, I'll be in the bathroom."
With that the red head left the blond to recover from his very first organism.
End Note: For some reason I figure Rufus to be inexperienced with the matters of sex. I know this goes against the general beliefs of this fandom, but I think he either had a bad experience or was a late bloomer.
