rain rain go away
Notes: This fic will not have much in the way of yaoi, because that'll happen in the sequel; still, it will happen, so I put it in the warnings. This one has more angst and torture than anything else.
Please note that there are spoilers for all parts of the Compilation, and this particular fic is set post-Dirge of Cerberus.
Two final notes: the lack of capitalization on chapter titles and the story title is intentional. Furthermore, the prologue is written in a very stream-of-consciousness manner, but the rest of the fic makes much more sense, really. :D
prologue rain rain (go away)——
Rain rain go away...
everywhere it won’t go away leave me behind to pick up the pieces
come again another day...
she’s gone and i’m here but i don’t care anymore
rain rain go away...
never cared never loved never could say i’m sorry never have the chance now
come again another day...
it doesn’t matter nothing matters we’re all dead to the world

Heaven had a grudge. Water poured from angered clouds. Nothing would dry. Not after a deluge of crimson rain.
Thunder masked her first scream. Azure eyes opened at the second. Third time hands flailed around the empty bed.
——
red so red never wash these hands not my blood hers all hers
killed her dead did it myself but i didn’t i never wanted to hurt her
—/—
Too dark to see anything. Light had fled in fear. Did the night persist? Stormclouds hid their beloved sky. Far too thick, couldn’t tell what was beyond the clouds.
Stumbling over everything. Could fly through anything with his eyes closed but couldn’t make it down the hall to save his life.
Or hers.
——
i didn’t i swear i didn’t it wasn’t me it was him all him but he was me
and i killed her and she’s dead and please oh please let the rain wash the pain away

In the kitchen at last. Thought she’d gone in for early morning tea. So wrong, oh so wrong.
Standing above her, spear idly slashing and cutting her into tiny little pieces. Looking at himself except it wasn’t him, not at all. But it was him, he was killing her, no, she was dead—
——
did it hurt when we killed you i think it did it would’ve hurt me oh yes because it did
i saw you bleeding but you weren’t bleeding it was me it was my pathetic heart dying
—/—
A state of shock, or maybe fear. Paralyzed by the sight perhaps.
Stilled him for that one moment when it could have changed and didn’t.
Sinking to the floor, blood gushing from his chest. Letting the darkness take him in its arms.
——
it’s still raining but it’s not red it’s green and it hurts but i deserve it oh yes
i deserve it for killing you (but i didn’t not really) oh but i did
rain rain go away come again another day...

Notes: So, there you have it, the prologue. This sets up the fic, really, but the plotty business officially starts next chapter, which I'm going to post in a minute so you're not left with this vague business.
