Sitting down behind my desk, I was looking through some paperwork after a hard mission I had the other day. I arrived home at like 3 am and told my boss that I was sore and tired and I'll work on the report the next day. The President is our on vacation taking my partner and the bosses honey( yeah I know somethings going on between them) along with him ( bastards) while the boss and I get stuck holding things up around here. Pushing back my chair I ran a hand through my spiky red hair as I looked over at the lone picture frame with the two most important women in my life (yes I actuality did settle down... well some what ) as I absentmindedly twisted the golden band that was on my left ring finger.

I had married a beautiful woman (yeah she was a Turk, and a kick ass one at that) about seven years ago and was blessed with a beautiful baby girl exactly nine month to the day of our wedding. I was the happiest man in all of Edge until the day I received word that her team was ambushed and the vehicle she was in was blown up by a rocket launcher shot off from some roof top near her location. That night I had to explain to a 2 year old little girl that her mommy wasn't going to be coming home and it was the hardest thing I ever had to explain to my daughter. Looking down at my watch I realized what time it was and I quickly headed out of my office to meet up with my little girl at the school buss stop.

My little Girl met a new friend
Just the other day
On the playground at school
Between the tires and the swings
But she came home with tear filled eyes
And said to me “Daddy, Alyssa Lies”

Walking her back towards the ShinRa building, I could tell that something was really bothering her so I decided that I needed to find out just what was going on at School.

Well I brushed it off at first
Cause I didn't know how much my little girl been hurt
Or the things she had seen
I wasn't ready when I said you can tell me
And she said

That night after supper. I was sitting down on the floor in her pink (yes I said PINK) bedroom. I held my daughter as she sat on my lap and listened to everything she said.

Chorus:
Alyssa Lies
To the classroom
Alyssa lies
Everyday at school
Alyssa lies
To the teachers
As she tries to cover every bruise

I held her while she sobbed silently into my chest. Rubbing her back soothingly I thought about what she had said.

My little girl laid her head
That night to go to sleep
As I stepped out of the room I heard her say
A prayer so soft and sweet
God bless my mom and my dad
Any my new friend Alyssa
I know she needs you bad

Chorus:

Closing her door behind me I went to the kitchen to grab a beer and to have a smoke before I headed to bed myself.

I had the worst night of sleep in years
As i tried to think of a way to calm her fears
I knew just what it was I had to do
But when we got to school on Monday I heard the news.

My little girl asked me why everybody looked so sad
The lump in my throat grew bigger
With every question that she asked
Until I felt the tears run down my face
And I told her that Alyssa wouldn't be in school today

Sitting down in the hallway just out side of the main office I held my daughter in my lap wrapping my arms lovingly around her as I said...

She doesn't lie
In the classroom
She doesn't lie
Anymore at school
Alyssa lies
With Jesus
Because there's nothing anyone would do

Tears filled my eyes
When my little girl asked me why
Alyssa lied
Daddy tell me why
Alyssa lies

(Less than a month later)

I was sitting up on a stage with my daughter right beside me as the company President spoke to the crowd. I made it a point to speak with him about what went on while he was away and we both decided that something needed to be done. Now thanks to my daughter opening up to me about her friend. ShinRa was now opening a center for battered and abused families in each city each of them were named after the little girl I was to late to help but made me realize just how important family really i
