It Had to Be Today.

'One step at a time, just one step at a time' was the chant Zack had bin using to keep him moving for the past hour. Any other day he wouldn't need a chant, or any thing else, to keep him from just dropping face in the dirt that made up the rood he walked on. Any other day he wouldn't have a built wound in his chest and a comatose friend on his back. Any other day he wouldn’t be running from the soldiers that were trying to 'retrieve' Hojo's run away specimens. Any other day he wouldn't be a lot of things, but it wasn't any other day, it was today.
And today fackin' sucked.

By the time Zack reached the city gates his shirt was soaked through with his blood and he found him self more grateful for his mako enhancements, including the additional ones he got during his time as Hojo's lab rat
But he was still going to kill the mad scientist the next time they meet.

Zack tripped. Cloud fell. Zack swore. Cloud fell down a cliff. Zack swore again and jumped after Cloud. The soldiers swore as they lost site of them.

It had to be today.
