Spiraling Universe
‘I don’t want to do this.’ The pale woman thought as she and her equally pale partner moved further and further away from the warmth and light that they had come to love.
‘Neither do I my love, but it has to be done. Then it will be over and the world will be safe.’ The man answered.
The woman laughed, a cold sound. ‘This world will never be safe. Deepground came closer than any other. He shouldn’t have to-’
‘Enough, koi. We must trust her. She’s saved us twice before.’
‘Yeah, babe. Relax. It’ll be alright.’
Three other men slowly ghosted into sight beside the woman, along with a smaller woman.
‘Let’s go, koi. It’s time.’
Bright green light enveloped the group, filling the spirits with warmth as flesh became more and more solid with the fading of the heavenly light. The six people gasped in awe and near pain as they took their first living breaths in over ten years.
“Well Axys,” Yazoo said, pulling her into his arms, “There’s no point in stalling. We have a job to do.”
The silver haired woman nodded her head and fought the sting of tears as she and her husband helped the others to their feet.
