Chapter one: Broken promises

It was the night before she was to have her freedom taken from her by a man she didn't love, and a young Yuna stared out her window, her gown shining in the night. Her beautiful bi-colored eyes full of sadness, not wanting this fate but she knew she was forced to do what she needed to be done. After all she was the High summoners daughter, and what more was expected of her as to marry one of the most wealthiest and prominent Maesters of all Spire. Only Yuna didn't want this, she only wanted one thing in life, and it was taken from her.

Turning from the window she walked over to her wedding dress, how could it not be anymore beautiful and perfect, only Yuna couldnt see the beauty, she only saw the outfit she was to wear as she sealed her fate. Tears never came to her eyes as she thought about him, Titus, the one she should be married the next day. But this wasn't going to be able to happen since he left, breaking the promise that he made to her the night she gave herself to him. She closed her eyes and turned from the dress. It was late, she was able to see dawn breaking as she walked to her bed. She couldn't sleep at all, and hoped to get a few hours before having to get up and ready for the moment she sells her soul to the devil.

Yuna was woken by one of her dearest friends, Lulu, who gave her a sad smile knowing what she was feeling. Getting out of bed, Lulu tried to make her smiled as she did her hair, and helped her into the dress. Slipping on the veil Lulu sighed as Yuna stared into the mirror.

"You know you can back out at any time...there is still a chance he may return for you." Lulu said as she saw Yuna go up to the neck that was once Titus'. Yuna looked down and shook her head.

"He isn't coming back. My heart tells me to wait, but it knows, that he is gone and I must do what I have to do. And that is to marry Maester Seymour. It is my right as the daughter of the High Summoner." Yuna said softly taking off the necklace since Seymour forbidden her to wear it to the ceremony. She looked down at it and then to Lulu. "I remember when he gave me this. It..It was the night..by the spring. He kissed me for the first time..and I..I knew I truly was in love with him..."

"I remember that story very well. I wondered where you two had run off to." Lulu tried to smile but couldn't as she saw the pain on Yuna's face as she remembered the happy yet sad memory. She watched as Yuna went over and opened her jewelry box and stared at the necklace. "Why don't you place it in your dress, since you know you can't part with it. Maester Seymour won't notice."

"I have to do what it best to help me move on and if its putting away the necklace that keeps his memory alive, then so be it." Yuna said her voice filled with sadness as she dropped the necklace into the box. Closing the box she turned to Lulu, as there was a knock at the door requested her to come out and be ready to walk down the aisle to her new husband.

"You are beautiful, don't think otherwise." Lulu smiled as she walked over to the young girl that was like her little sister and hugged her. "Are you ready?"

"As ready as I will ever be." Yuna whispered as she looked over her shoulder to the jewelry box one last time before walking out of the room.

The wedding was beautiful, everything Yuna could dream for, only her father wasn't there to give her away nor was the man she should be seeing as she was escorted down the pathway where Seymour stood waiting. Stopping next to him, Yuna never looked at him once as they made their way up the steps where the pastor was standing. Seymour seemed very happy with himself, as Yuna looked solemn and worn out.

The wedding couldn't have ended sooner. All Yuna wanted to do was run to her room and get the necklace out of the jewelry box, and never let go of it. She knew she wasn't going to be hapy with him, she knew she would never love him, she knew...that Titus still had her heart, and she wasn't ready to take it back. Seymour didn't love her, it was obvious to her, but so was her feelings towards him. Looking at Lulu as they were pronounced husband and wife, she let the last tear she was ever going to fall again.
