Love Letter

Love Letter

Cloud decided to wing it all on a very old fashioned approach. He really didn’t think it’d work, but here he was… Cloud/Sephiroth

I do not own “Love Letter”-by Gackt I do not own Final Fantasy VII, which belongs to Square Enix, nor do I make any profit from this.

I was struck by this idea and really wanted to give it a try.

Notes: OOC!! I’m sayin’ it now! I tried to make it a cute OOC.

Long passed lights out, Cloud lay across his bed on his stomach, a small reading light illuminating the scripted paper he had laid out over his pillow on a dirty brown clipboard. The pen in his hand trembled and paused, tapped his pillow and found its way between his teeth as he debated on exactly how he had wanted to do this. To his right was a small pile of crumpled up papers that he’d cast aside after deeming them as crap.

The song playing on his iPod was slow and filled him with so much emotion Cloud’s eyes almost wanted to water. Cloud was always quick to crying, which was a fault Cloud detested, but he swore to keep his tears off of his love letter.

Cloud smiled bitterly at himself. So old-fashioned, so childish, and definitely girly. But then again, it wasn’t exactly out of character for the easy to crying, gay boy who was in love with another man. Cloud couldn’t help himself. He’d known of the man even as a small child and grew up admiring him to no end, and then once, it was just once, when he met him face to face (well, not exactly face to face seeing as how Sephiroth was on a top floor watching the cadets with First Class Zack Fair), but even still, Cloud’s feeling’s exploded and evolved into complete love. A love sick type love, because Cloud knew, he’d never be good enough to be accepted by the man he loved. But still, he wanted to do this. He was taking the SOLDIER exam in a few days, which would put him one step closer to him…

Sephiroth.

It was so obvious. Everyone either adored or loved him, those that said he was scary Cloud had to simply disregard. Sephiroth was gorgeous; he was a true Adonis. The long silver hair so perfectly maintained, those gorgeous green eyes, that translucent pale skin without even the slightest blemish… Sephiroth was a God.

Cloud stared back down at his paper and frowned. Only one line and it was so corny and stupid he tore the paper from under the clip and crumpled it up. But then again, what he was doing was corny, so what was wrong with a corny line? But it was Sephiroth! It had to be perfect! Just like he was, but how could Cloud do perfect when he was far from it himself?

Shifting in the dark bunker Cloud sat on the edge of his bed, putting his feet to the cold floor as he turned the volume up a little more on his i.Pod. He loved this song so much.

“Wait a minute.” Cloud mumbled just barely above a whisper as he turned back and laid himself back over his bed and picked up his pen. Starting over the song Cloud started to quickly write. It was still cheesy, but it had Cloud smiling through his whole written confession. Not that he really intended to write his name anyway simply out of embarrassment and the possibility of getting into trouble. Sephiroth might even discard it, since he must get so much mail, but Cloud hoped that the fact that it was nameless would attract the General’s attention. At least so that the General would remember the love letter he got from someone who remained anonymous.

Sephiroth was sitting at his desk in his office, nine o’clock in the morning and already hungry, quickly writing out a report with his computer humming just off to his right when his office door opened. Sephiroth didn’t even glance up as he held out his left hand and a small pile of envelopes were put into his palm. Closing his long fingers over the letters Sephiroth continued to concentrate on the form as the door closed without a word or glance from a bored secretary. Finally finishing his train of thought, Sephiroth set the pen down and pulled the mail in front of him.

Formal documents, and one from up top with a stamp with the fat president sitting at his desk like he was all powerful-not. Sephiroth could never understand why only the envelopes from up top had stamps on them since all they were doing was circulating floors. It seemed rather pointless, but then again, the president was a show-off. But then there was one with no stamp. Sephiroth paused, eyes scrutinizing the plain white envelope with Sephiroth’s name printed across it.

Setting the rest of the typical mail down Sephiroth eyed the envelope like it might explode before running his finger down the seem of the flap to discover that it wasn’t pasted. Flipping the flap back Sephiroth slipped out a single piece of lined paper and quirked a fine silver brow. Unfolding the paper Sephiroth discovered that it had been folded again and again until the sides were all even. Whoever sent this was making a very conscious effort.

Dear Sephiroth,

I really like this song, and I wanted to use it to express my feelings to you:

Smiling at me with gentleness,
You are beside me unfailingly even now
If we close our eyes, there, the myriad of seasons
Starts to envelop us gently

What awaits us at the end of the long journey
No one knows but
Unsettling nights will never come again

For eternity
Two of us together, we’ll be able to keep on walking
Tightly held in my heart
The feeling will not change. There is just one thing…
"I love you"

You were like a tiny flower fluttering in the gentle breeze,
The day I first met you is so long ago
We were so young and there were days we hurt each other
But now those are memories that we can laugh about together

Don’t forget the vows we are making each other
Because you're more precious than anyone else...
Let's fulfill our dreams a little at a time...

For eternity
Two of us together, we’ll be able to keep on walking
Tightly held in my heart
The feeling will not change. There is just one thing…
"I love you"

For eternity
Two of us together, we’ll be able to keep on walking
Tightly held in my heart
The feeling will not change. There is just one thing…
"I love you"

"I love you..."

Gackt-Love Letter

Sincerely,

Someone who loves you.

Sephiroth finished the letter with an almost flabbergasted expression on his face. Setting the letter down Sephiroth stared down at it.

This was his first love letter. Sephiroth had never gotten one before. In fact, as Sephiroth stared at the last line, Sephiroth knew he’d never even heard someone say that they loved him before.

Why now? Who? Sephiroth was honestly shocked to receive a love letter at all, especially since this had to be from someone in Shinra. Letters from the outside were only business and went to other heads of departments, not something personal like this. This was definitely not formal at all.

Putting the letter back in the envelope Sephiroth went about sorting through the normal humdrum of the rest of his mail. It wasn’t until lunch that the General made a detour and asked a good acquaintance that was an expert at forensics.

The man adjusted his glasses and gave Sephiroth an incredulous look as he moved back in his swivel chair in his lab.

“You seriously want me to go through, how may people here in Shinra? To do a handwriting analysis?” Sephiroth crossed his arms and leaned against the side of the white lab table.

“Look for a Cadet or Infantrymen with average or just below average marks. They probably screw up a lot.” John rolled his eyes as he set the paper down.

“You should check for prints first though.” Sephiroth said offhandedly as he pushed from the table to leave and go grab some lunch.

“Geeze, you only say that after scaring the hell outta me.” Sephiroth smirked.

“It’d have been fun.”

“Get outta here!” Sephiroth chuckled lightly as he left through the sliding glass doors and disappeared.

Cloud was wrought with shame. He’d failed. Cloud had failed to make that one step closer to his beloved. Now Cloud would never be good enough, could never even hope. Sephiroth probably passed the exam like it was a breeze, and Cloud failed all but one of his physical tests. It was too bad there weren’t more written ones, those he actually scored well on. He only managed to pass the danger drill, and that was because he’d been able to slip low to the ground and into small places and attack from behind. It wasn’t even funny. He won because of being small and flexible. He wasn’t even strong enough to take on his opponent’s head on. The verdict had broke Cloud’s heart, even though a part of him had the slightest bit of hope.

Cloud had already been issued his new Infantrymen uniform and been invited to take the exam again in two years. Cloud groaned as he sat down on his cot that he would be loosing tonight. Cloud’s eyes heated and watered and Cloud grit his teeth to try and stop that infuriating habit of his before grabbing some clothes and bolting for the shower. Those that passed were in a meeting right now, and he didn’t want to face them when they came to get their stuff and move afterward. It was just too much humiliation.

§

Sephiroth’s cell phone rang and the General paused along the side of a hall to answer.

“Hah! Guess what?!” It was John.

“You got an I.D.” There was a pause on the other line.

“Man, you ruin everything.” There was a sigh.

“The name’s Cloud Strife. I checked some of his sig’s and matched them up to the letter too, just to be foolproof and it was a match.” Sephiroth nodded.

“What other info do you have?” Sephiroth asked as he quickly started to walk.

“Well, it was just posted a few hours ago that he failed the SODLIER exam, so he’s in the Infantry now.” Sephiroth nodded.

“I see.” And he hung up the phone.

“Geeze, not even so much as a thank you.” John growled as he flipped his own phone shut.

Cloud had already moved all his stuff into his new place after a good while of crying in a thankfully vacant shower room. The only problem now was that his eyes were puffy, and either it was because everyone else moving in felt the same way or understood enough not to say anything, and Cloud was thankful. No one here was really in the mood to tease anyone, unless they were stupid enough to fail on purpose, like Darek, but Cloud didn’t see him around and hoped to God that he went home or something. Darek had been one of the worst bullies in the whole cadet class, and Cloud was quite obviously his favorite to jerk around.

~Cloud Strife, report to the General’s office. Repeat-~

Cloud stared up at the speaker in the corner of the room in horror. He glanced back at the others who simply continued to shuffle around their stuff wordlessly. Swallowing, Cloud shoved the rest of his stuff onto his bed and left to go the General’s office.

When Cloud finally reached the office he paused and took a deep breath. This couldn’t have to deal with his letter, could it? Did Sephiroth discover him? How? Did Sephiroth actually go to the effort? Was he in trouble? Cloud’s fist trembled at the door before knocking lightly.

“Come in Strife.” Cloud jumped a little as Sephiroth’s deep voice permeated through the door and Cloud grabbed the knob and opened the door. Cloud was stiff as he entered the closed the door behind him. He stood in the typical military fashion with arms flat at his sides and legs straight together.

“Sir.”

Sephiroth was sitting at his desk, staring up at the blonde. So… Without a doubt, this young boy wrote him a love letter.

Sephiroth wasn’t offended in the least, or even bothered. Sephiroth was as gay as you could come. He didn’t care one bit for women sexually, he liked cock, and he liked hard-wired muscle, deep groans of pleasure, and Sephiroth liked screwing their brains out. However, Sephiroth had never had a real relationship. The closest thing to a relationship Sephiroth had was with Genesis, but really, they were only fuck buddies. There was no love in the relationship. They were still friends, but nothing more. Thinking about it now, Sephiroth was wanting something new, something different.

Standing up after staring the blonde up and down Sephiroth leaned against the front of his desk, watching Cloud’s Adams apple sink in and back out in a thick swallow.

“I got your letter.” Cloud’s eyes went wide and his heart about exploded in his chest as blood painted his face beet red.

“Is this some sort of prank?” Cloud drew in a sharp breath as Sephiroth arched a silver brow.

A prank? A prank?! Cloud couldn’t ever imagine his feelings as a prank! He was confessing in it!

“No!” Cloud cried, his lips flapping shut the moment he cried out. Cloud’s eyes went to his feet, his eyes warming again.

“No? Before I respond to anything, I need to know that this isn’t some dare or bet.” Sephiroth crossed his arms as he studied the boy.

“No, it’s not.” Cloud whimpered lightly, he was starting to cry again. Taking a deep breath, Cloud took control of his tears to make sure he spoke these words clearly and with firmness.

“It’s how I really feel.” Cloud’s wet blue eyes, shimmering with unshed tears burned into Sephiroth’s with a determination that actually made the General feel uncomfortable. Sephiroth was at a loss for the longest moment.

“I love you.” Not only was it the first time in his life he’d ever heard the word directed toward him, but to see it so clear in the boy’s eyes Sephiroth felt his own heart start to pump with adrenaline though his countenance didn’t show any of this.

“If this is a prank…”

“It’s not!” Cloud declared again. A silent moment passed before Sephiroth pushed from the desk and approached Cloud. Cloud stared up at Sephiroth’s towering height, stumbling back slightly and falling into the small chair as Sephiroth stared into his eyes. Cloud’s heart was screaming, and his face was still flushed deeply as Sephiroth leaned down and Cloud tensed like stone when Sephiroth brushed his lips over Cloud’s. Cloud gasped, lips parting just enough for Sephiroth to thrust his tongue into Cloud’s mouth. Cloud groaned as Sephiroth leaned lower and angled his head, his hands lapping over Cloud’s on the armrest. Cloud shyly moved his tongue against Sephiroth, his heart swelling and brimming with chaotic emotions of love and lust coursing through his whole being. Greedily, Cloud moved his mouth against Sephiroth’s, grunting in surprise when Sephiroth’s hand snaked to the back of Cloud’s skull and tugged his spiky tresses to angle his head higher. At this point Sephiroth had completely overpowered Cloud and Cloud happily accepted it.

It was fantastic! The feeling of Sephiroth’s being, his skin, his tongue… Everything! It was better than any wet dream Cloud had, had about the man. The feeling of Sephiroth’s hair sliding across Cloud’s right cheek tickled deliciously as he gripped the armrests of the chair. Cloud could smell the faint musk scent of cologne! Sephiroth actually wore cologne! And the smell of Sephiroth’s shampoo Cloud couldn’t place, but he loved it too, and it enthralled him ever the more. Cloud pleaded with himself for this not to be a dream.

Sephiroth finally pulled back and stared down at Cloud, watching as he panted lightly for breath. Sephiroth saw the tears start to roll down Cloud’s cheeks as he sniffled and wiped furiously at them with his trembling arm. He was a crybaby. It was…. Cute. Cloud was so happy he was actually crying.

Going back to his desk Sephiroth sat down.

“You may go.” Cloud stared up at Sephiroth in shock but the smirk on Sephiroth’s lips as he raised his index finger to his lips made Cloud’s heart go pitter patter all over again.

“This is our little secret.” Cloud nodded and stood up. Composing his clothes and taking a deep breath, Cloud opened the door and left. After the door closed behind him, Cloud lingered, wondering if he was supposed to look back or not, but then again, did Sephiroth want him to? Finally biting his bottom lip Cloud quickly peaked open the door, meeting Sephiroth’s amused expression.

“Good bye.” Sephiroth nodded.

“Good bye.” Then he closed the door and started down the hall, lightheaded and feeling like he was floating on down to his new unit.

Sephiroth placed two fingers against his heart. It was still beating rapidly. In fact, Sephiroth hadn’t felt this high except after winning a particularly grueling battle. A small, awkward smile tugged his lips as he stared at his fingers pressed against his skin. If no rumors started up about what happened in here, then he’d take Cloud’s confession to heart. Sephiroth had to take things in stride in this situation, even though a greater part of him was already missing that sweet mouth and those trembling lips.

Okay! I was listening to Love Letter from Gackt and just the title of the song gave me the idea for this. The lyrics don’t exactly match what was happening in here for that reason, but I thought writing a love letter by writing out the lyrics to a song would be cute.

Well??? Like??? If you guys like this let me know and I’ll continue it, otherwise I’ll leave it where it is.
