Disclaimer: I don't own the Final Fantasy VII caracters and locations but I do own Lorelai and Zoey.
Chapter 10: Zoey
Reno and Lorelai were doing some housework when the phone rang. He picked up. "Hello." Rufus ShinRa's voice came from the speaker. "I need you two to go help a SOLDIER mission." He rubbed his temples. "We're still on leave." Leave it to ShinRa to ruin a perfect day. "You're leaving in two hours with SOLDIER Steel. And DON'T be late." The redhair hung up. "What's up?" asked his wife, wipping a glass. "We're leaving in two hours with your brother." She stopped. "But Zoey?" He sighed. "Cloud will take care of her."

In sector 6 they found a group of figthers that were waiting for them with only result of starting a huge figth. They were handling things quite well until Lorelai got shoot from behind she fell on her knees, blood flowing from the bullethole. Zack was the first to get to her and all he could hear was her last whisper "Zoey". When Reno, who was figthing outside came in the building he saw Zack just ripping each rebel in could into pieces. Then he saw his wife's body. Everything became white, he had to take over his self and kill all those bastards. Kill everyone who was responsable for her death. "So the bitch's dead..." said the brawny man that shoot the young mother. He tried to it him with his EMR but got hit in the head with a pipewrench and fell on the ground.

When the Turk openned his eyes he found his self lying in the ICU. Tseng was sitting on the chair beside his bed. "What happened?" His head was hurting so badly his vision was blurry. "You've got knocked out." He tried to sit up but he got dizzy and layed back down. " Where's Lorelai?" Tseng bit his lip, that was the question he didn't want to answer. "She's... " Reno looked at him. "WHERE IS MY WIFE?!" The Turk boss took a deep breath. "She's dead." The redhair Turk froze reality was slowly slipping through his brain. His wife had passed away. "I'm sorry." Said Tseng trying to make him feel better. "I want to see Zoey." was the only thing Reno said. As if god has heard him Zack entered the room with the baby in his arms. She was awake, looking everywhere. His eyes watered. She looked so much like her mother. The SOLDIER gave him his daugther and he started to cry. He knew what Tseng would of said 'Turks don't s how emotions' but he couldn't help it, it was... too much to handle. "Do you want me to babysit her tonigth?" He looked up at his former brother-in-law and all he could see was Lorelai. "Take her now, I'll see you guys later." And he just laid back in the pillows, defeated, for once in his Turk life.

Reno was leaning on his pillows, the nurses had come and started him on narcotics to shut him up. He was gazing at the blank wall without really seing it when a familiar silouhette sat beside him. He turned around, yep it was Zack. The tall, muscular, raven-haired, always happy-to-be-alive Zachary Steel. There was only one odd thing about him, his eyes were red and swollen. He had cried. A lot. "Feeling any better?" He seemed to have trouble talking, when you saw the huge bruise on his jawline you understood. He was recovering from a broken jaw. "They just shot with some kind of... shit. I think they want to shut me up." His voice was uncertain, his eyes were confused. "I'm sorry..." For a moment the young turk asked his self if he heard rigth. First-class SOLDIER Zachary Steel never apologized to anyone. Anyone but his rookie lover and his beloved sister. "Sorry... about what?" In his head Zack wasn't the cause of his sister's death. It was all his fault. "About Rory." He hissed when he heard her name. "It's not your fault it's mine. She still had four months of leave. She shouldn't had been there." He felt mako eyes on his face. "Just say it, everything his my fault. Reno screwed up causing deaths." A single tear droped from his eye. "I just... screw up everything, I've should of died." Two strong hands shaked him, trying to put sense in his thick skull. " What are doing with Zoey? You can't just let her down!" He sobbed silently as the SOLDIER wrapped his arms around him. "You have to stay here, for Zoey." The Turk looked up at him. "I will."
