Drive without fear
Well I finally finished the chapter (was really hard trying to remember what I had previously written), well here it is never the less.
This is a pretty short chapter but the next chapter I'm hoping to combine a few chapters into one. So hang in there peeps :D
Chapter 16
We eased ourselves on to the road, picking up speed as Tseng eased his foot down on the accelerator. We coasted down the road sitting in silence lost in our own individual thoughts, Tseng finally broke it.
“Reno when we stop stay in the car until I tell you otherwise”
“What? How come?”
“Well I take it you haven’t noticed that we are being followed” I spun around in the seat to get a better look behind us.
“How long have they have behind us?”
“Since we came back onto the road I guess Elena doesn’t totally trust us” he briefly looked in the rear view mirror before spinning the steering wheel sharply squealing down a side road. I was thrown against the passenger window from the swift change in direction Tseng shot his arm out grabbing me before I could slam my head against the dashboard.
“Hold on Reno, I still need you to be awake a little longer”
I spun back around grabbing desperately for the seat belt jamming it from the force I was giving it, eventually it came free and I strapped myself in tighter then a bear hug. Tseng calmly scanned the area looking for a possible escape route, I was so lost in my fear of crashing that I failed to notice straight away that Tseng had taken hold of my hand and was gracefully kissing it.
“I love you Reno, never forget that” his voice stoic as he said such tender words
“I know you do boss, well in your own strange way I guess”
He let a seldom seen smile grace his lips briefly before breaking his attention back to the road ahead of us, finding a suitable opening he spun the wheel violently turning down a darkened alleyway. He skillfully stopped behind a garbage dumpster, he coolly exited the vehicle coming around to the passenger side ducking back down for a moment.
“Stay put until I call for you understood?” I gave a nod of acknowledgement, with my confirmation he dropped my electro rod into lap moving away to lean against the drivers side. A few minutes passed before the way we had come into the alley was blocked by a coasting black sedan cautiously stopping a few meters from away where we sat parked. Realising that they had been discovered they sat motionless as they most likely also realised that they had been tailing the head of the Turks Tseng. I could see a panicked discussion going on behind the tinted window as they properly were trying to explain why they had been tailing us, after a few moments they exited the sedan and nervously approached Tseng’s waiting form.
“Er …. We’re sorry sir. We didn’t realise that it was you whom we were following” they addressed nervously
“That is perfectly fine men I’m guessing that Elena gave you orders to follow us without informing you who it was that you were to tail?” Tseng replied in his usual detached tone
“Well yes sir. But we …”
“No it’s alright I understand. This is part of a training exercise on stealth that I have organized” Tseng replied waving off his excuse as unnecessary
They stood before him awkwardly before Tseng finally motioned for them to go back to their car which they gladly obliged.
“Oh before you leave, I have one last order that I want followed. Do not tell anyone even Elena that we noticed you and that you are unsure of our present location. Understood?”
They looked at each other nervously before nodding in acknowledgement that they understood this was one order not to defy.
“Good. Now leave” with that they quickly got back into their car and backed up the alleyway turning the corner in reverse in one move, before proceeding to move forward back towards the road. Once Tseng was completely satisfied that they would be of no further trouble to us, he turned slowly moving back into the driver’s seat. We sat for a few more minutes in the cover of the alley before he made as attempt to leave the shadows
“We better be moving before we get anymore unnecessary and unwanted guest following us” I nodded in agreement as Tseng focused his attention out the window staring straight ahead down the alley watching the darkness creeping towards us. He eventually started the engine after pondering in silence our next move, slowly easing the car forward out the other end of the alleyway. Tseng drove in non-linear directions trying to keep our movements as unpredictable as possible lest we become the target of another search party. Tseng drove us late into the night I passed the time watching the scenery change from suburban to nature, sleep finally overwhelmed my body as my eyes drooped closed from fatigue before sleep incased my entire body I felt Tseng caress the side of my face with his warm hand.
