Chapter Three

Tidus and Auron waited in their cell to see what their fate would be. Tidus was busy brooding over his current and suddenly very complicated love life. He wanted Seymour, Auron and Yuna but he knew that he could never have all three. Auron hated Seymour and up to yesterday he had too. But Seymour had shown him what real lovemaking was and his experience with Auron had been even more satisfying and now he didn’t know what to do. He still loved Yuna deeply and wanted to make her happy but he knew she would never understand something like this. He ran the risk of her being repulsed by him and the thought made him sick to the stomach. He would be prepared to give up his own pleasures, he thought, just to keep her happy.

Footsteps disturbed his reverie and he stood next to Auron who gave his hand a sudden squeeze. ‘Here we go’ he whispered and Tidus wondered if Seymour had been able to get them off. He hoped so as Seymour had really seemed to want to keep him alive at least and he must know that Tidus would not go without his friends.

Maester Kinoc approached the cage they were in.
“Your sentences have been decided.” He stated, “Come with me.”
The door to their cell was unlocked and guards grabbed them by the arms and marched them out of the room. Tidus was bewildered, hadn’t Seymour done anything to help them? Why not? He decided to bide his time and see what happened.
They were marched down a long corridor that split into two. Quite suddenly Auron was guided down one and Tidus down the other. Where were they going? And why had they been split up? Was he being taken to safety while Auron was being sent somewhere else? He wondered all this while the guards were propelling him downwards through the tunnel.

They eventually emerged at what could only be described as a huge drain. Tidus looked down into the depths and could see the bottom though not all that well before he was pushed in. With a cry he fell into the water.
“Hey! Where are the others?” he demanded.
“Oh floating around down there somewhere” said one of the guards nonchalantly. Tidus punched the water in anger. He had been so sure Seymour would help them! And now it seemed that he’d been sentenced to death as well as his friends. ‘Or maybe’, he thought ‘Seymour has faith that we’ll get out and then he’s going to help’ This thought comforted him and he began to swim around looking for anyone else that had been thrown down here.

He eventually met up with Wakka and Rikku and he was glad to see they were allright. After discussing the fact that this was a lame way to kill someone, they set off in the direction of what they hoped was the way out. It was not long before they ran into a large water fiend that looked like the guardian wyrm Evrae that they had defeated to gain entry to Bevelle. They were trapped up against doors and had no choice but to fight. Tidus noted that the creature was changing colours which was a sure sign that it was a zombie. He pulled out a Phoenix Down and winked at Rikku who nodded. He threw it at the monster who, reeled from the damage. Wakka then noticed that the locks on the doors were a little loose so he threw his Blitzball at one of them. He had guessed correctly and the lock flew open. He signalled to Tidus who hit the other lock with his sword and together they all swam through. After repeating this at the next gate, they managed to trap the fiend and threw phoenix downs at it until it exploded into pyreflies and vanished.

Together the three swam for the exit all of them in danger of their lungs bursting. Tidus and Wakka found it easier than Rikku but she was pretty good considering she didn’t play Blitzball. They found the exit and climbed out of the water. They were met by Lulu, Kimahri and to Tidus’s enormous relief Yuna and Auron were there too. Tidus’s heart skipped a beat at the sight of Yuna having not seen her since Sin had attacked and dumped them all on Bikanel Island. He hadn’t realised how much he had missed the summoner until now and he longed to hold her in his arms and tell her he’d always protect her, not to mention telling her how sorry he was about all the things he said without knowing that calling the final Aeon would kill her. The thought filled him with sadness but then she looked at him a smiled and all the sadness evaporated like fog when the sun comes out. He grinned back.

After greeting each other Tidus tried to speak but was stopped in mid-flow by the sound of approaching footsteps. Seymour! Tidus was relieved to see it was him, now maybe they could get out of here and continue the pilgrimage. Then Seymour began to speak. Tidus listened and couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Seymour wanted Yuna help him become Sin! Tidus stared open-mouthed as Seymour stated his plan to them all. Then Seymour produced the body of maester Kinoc and Tidus heard Auron gasp in shock. Kinoc had been his friend.

How could Seymour want to become Sin? Sin was evil incarnate and destroyed all that was beautiful in Spira and yet here was his lover of a few hours before saying he wanted that. Tidus couldn’t believe it. What happened to ‘Seek me out after the pilgrimage’? What when he’d become Sin? NO! It was bad enough that his father was Sin at the moment and soon he’d have to fight him, but not this too! Tidus looked at Seymour and saw in those grey eyes the intense hunger for power. Seymour looked at Tidus then and Tidus knew that Seymour wasn’t going to help them unless Yuna agreed to help him, regardless of whether or not he cared about Tidus.

Tidus felt sick and betrayed. What had happened to Seymour? He had seemed to want him so badly but now he was willing to kill him and his companions to satisfy his own lust for power. Tidus knew that the love of power far outweighed any other sort of love for him and his eyebrows knitted together in a deep and angry frown. Yuna was saying she’d never agree to this and Tidus knew that they were all going to either kill him again or be killed. Kimahri was holding his lance to Seymour’s chest as Seymour began to change. Tidus watched in horror as Seymour turned into something monstrous.

“Run!” Auron was urging and Tidus ran along with Yuna and the others with one look back at Seymour told him that there was no hope for the Maester and himself. Anger and hurt spurred him on until Yuna stopped.
“I am not leaving Kimahri!”
Tidus nodded he wanted to kill Seymour at that moment for hurting him and after all he was Yuna’s guardian and would go wherever she went. As one they turned and headed back to where Seymour and Kimahri were.

Seymour had explained his plan to them all and hoped they would go along with him. Yes he was going to help his lovely Tidus escape along with his friends – he was going to help them escape through death. It was the only way and then he would join Tidus at the Farplane and they would be together for always. What Seymour hadn’t realised was that Tidus wanted to hold onto his life more than he obviously wanted to be with him and the thought hurt Seymour inside. Did he not realise that he was going to free him of worry and pain forever? He saw Tidus looking at him with anger on his face and then he was running away down the hall while that Ronso kept his lance to his chest. Then they were running back to him and Seymour wondered if they had changed their minds but Tidus had his sword out…

The battle began and ended with Seymour being defeated and falling to a crumpled heap on the floor. He vanished in a cloud of pyreflies and after putting away their weapons Auron simply stated.
“Lets get out of here.”

Soon afterwards found them at a different area of the Macalania Woods camping out. Tidus had gone off by himself and Auron and the others left him alone. He sat behind a bush and couldn’t stop the tears that flowed from his eyes. Seymour had betrayed him and he had thought that the blue haired half-Guado had cared for, even loved him. Seymour had been prepared to kill him to get what he wanted and the thought made Tidus feel even more wretched. But then there was Auron. Their little bout of passion he knew had awakened a fire in the legendary guardian and even though he felt so betrayed by Seymour, he also knew that Auron was still there for him, still wanted him and would give him comfort when he needed it. This made him feel much better and so he dried his eyes and splashed water from a nearby small pool on his face before returning to the others at the campsite.

He looked round and noted that Yuna wasn’t there before he seated himself on the ground. After a while he grew restless.
“Where’s Yuna?”
“She said she wanted to be alone.” Lulu informed him.
This didn’t surprise Tidus, Yevon after all had betrayed her and he knew she must be feeling a little like him at that moment though his betrayal wasn’t nearly so bad. She had followed Yevon’s teachings all her life and his relationship with Seymour had only lasted a day and yet it was still a terrible feeling. He got up and spoke to Auron who raised an eyebrow and suggested that he go and talk to Yuna.

Auron knew the two were in love and although he cared deeply for Tidus, he wanted Yuna to be happy and he knew she would if she found real love. He had warned Tidus off her but he knew that you can’t help who you fall in love with so for now, he would encourage it – even if it was going to be very short lived. Zanerkand was not far away and then Yuna and whomever she chose, would die and Sin would be defeated. He wondered if she would choose Tidus to be her fayth for the final Aeon. That would be interesting he mused considering that Tidus wasn’t exactly real. He of course had said nothing to Yuna about what they would find in the Hall of the Final Summoning, They would have to discover that for themselves.

Tidus shrugged and left the area to find Yuna. He came upon her standing in a slow moving river which was bathed in moonlight. Reflections danced across the surface of the water and made it truly beautiful. ‘Like Yuna is’ he thought and then she began to speak.
He listened as she told him about her worries, fears and feelings then he had a thought. Why didn’t she just give it up? He voiced his opinion out loud and she seemed to agree with him to start with but then doubts crept in while she talked. He told her he was sorry and he hoped he hadn’t made her sad and she replied that she had been happy. Then he told her about Zanerkand and the beautiful sunrises they had there. He was so desparate to show them to her but he turned to look at her when he heard her say she couldn’t go.

Tears were falling from her eyes and making little ripples on the surface of the water.
“I can’t” she sobbed “I just can’t, I can’t go.” And she continued to cry steadily.
Overwhelmed with feelings of sorrow for her situation and loving her all the more, he approached her and put his hands on her shoulders.
“Yuna.”
She looked up at him, the tears still coursing down her cheeks.
“Mm?”
She was silenced a moment later as his lips found hers in a passionate kiss and she closed her eyes in a sudden rush of happiness and love. They sank below the water lips still locked together in passion. Tidus felt the familiar stir in his shorts and he kissed her deeper. She kissed him back and found her mouth was being probed with a tongue. She enjoyed this new sensation of a foreign body exploring the warm confines of her mouth and she sucked at his tongue slightly. Tidus hadn’t been expecting that and the sensation rushed through him and fuelled the growing hardness between his legs. He didn’t want to rush anything with Yuna as he knew she had never had a man before and he definitely didn’t want to hurt her. By now they had been underwater for some time and he knew she would need air soon so he kicked his feet and the two of them rose to the surface some distance from the shore.

Tidus knew Kimahri was there on the shore and he didn’t want to be observed by the Ronso so he began to propel the two of them away even further from the shore. Still they had not broken the kiss and Tidus was becoming increasingly passionate with every passing moment and she was responding well to his kisses but still he didn’t want to push her so he broke the kiss. He gazed into her eyes and saw her love for him shining like a beacon in the blue and green depths.
“Oh Tidus.” She breathed. This was the most wonderful sensation she had ever felt and she wanted it to carry on forever. It was awakening within her passions, which she never knew existed, and all she knew was she wanted him to carry on. She knew what would happen if they carried on, Lulu had explained things to her but she was still a little nervous.
Tidus looked at her and she could see the concern in his face.
“We don’t have to do this if you’re not ready Yuna.”
Yuna looked up at him. She was going to die soon and might never experience this again. That made her mind up for her.
“I’m ready.” She said and kissed him deeply pushing her own tongue into his mouth to explore. Tidus drew her closer to him and she felt his arousal pressing against her.

Tidus broke the kiss and began to kiss Yuna’s neck as a soft moan escaped her. There were feelings rushing through her very being and all she knew was that she never wanted him to stop. She held him while he lovingly kissed her neck before his hands began to fumble with her clothing.
Suddenly Yuna wondered what would happen to their clothes if they discarded them in the river. Would they get carried away? She didn’t think it would be a good idea for them to return to camp naked after their little moment of passion. She broke the kiss.
“Tidus, we can’t drop our clothes in the water they’ll get taken away!”
Tidus stopped looking a little sheepish.
“Um yes good point.” He looked round and spotted a small island not to far from them in the middle of the river.
“There.”

They made their way over and crawled onto the shore their wet clothes clinging to them. Yuna could see Tidus’s erection in his shorts and the sight of it made her stomach flip. She hoped it wouldn’t hurt too much. They lay down side by side and reumed their kiss. They grew ever more passionate as Tidus once again went to work on Yuna’s neck and se moaned and writhed below him. He sat up long enough to remove his straps and shirt before shifting position to lie on top of her as she shivered with excitement under him.

Yuna moaned delightedly has Tidus removed her top and his heated lips found one pert nipple. “Mmm please..” She moaned as Tidus went to work on he licking and rubbing her spot with his thumb. Yuna could feel something welling up inside of her but she had no idea what it was. They swam around together for a while and the river removed all traces of their passion with it as it made it’s slow way downstream. They dressed and returned to the bank where Kimahri was still watching. Tidus wondered if he’d seen anything. He hoped not. The two of them lay on the bank and Yuna spoke.
“I will continue, I must.”
Tidus nodded. He knew in his heart that she’d never give up. ‘Please let me find a way to save her’ he silently prayed.
“I’ll go with you unless I’m fired?”
She shook her head
“Stay with me till the end?”
“No, not till the end…always.”
“Always then.”

A short distance away Kimahri who had been listening to them, smiled and left the area. Tidus got up and left to return on his own before being caught up by Yuna who held his hand and together they returned to the camp.
