Return of the Turk
Chapter 4: Return of the turk
The sound of Lorelai searching every square inch of their small kitchen woke both men up.
- What is she doing?
- Breakfest I guess.
Zack was so sore he was barely able to move. Cloud rubbed his eyes, dressed as well as he could and got up.
- I'm, gonna get you something for the pain, wait here.
When he left the spare room he saw his sister-in-law fully dressed in her Turk uniform, wearing it in the same relax,carefree way Reno did. Her raven hair neatly pulled up, headphones on. She snapped around when the rookie touched her shoulder.
- Sorry, did I wake you guys up?
- Kind of.
- Really sorry.
They heared the SOLDIER getting up. He was only wearing an old jean that he owned forever. They could both see his injuries. His left eye was swollen, his wrist doubled in size and the cut on in arm wasn't looking good.
- Did you get hit by a truck?
- No by big-bad Reno, it's nothing, I'll get over it.
- Oh my god is he alive?
- Yes he is, like I could kill someone.
Cloud and Lorelai exchange a saying-it-all gaze.
- You ligued up against me?
- No, answered his twin before kissing him on the forehead.
- I'll go and get you something to handle the pain.
- No magic stuff.
- I know, I know, you hate magic.
He smiled and the rookie stepped out the door in the ShinRa hallways. He was almost in Zack's office when he heard a familiar bugging voice behind him.
- Hey hey, Zachary Steel's bitch.
He turned around to see Reno completly healed, thanks to fullcure materia.
- Why don't you just leave us alone?
- It's to fun to pick on you two.
- You didn't have your lesson?
- Do I look bad? I know Zachary does, Rory told me he doesn't use magic unless his life's in danger.
- Do you have a reason to be here or you're just a pain in the neck?
- I've got to go get Lorelai, she's assigned.
- Not in her state.
- She doesn't have a choice.
- You're going to get your ass kicked.
- Zachary's injured, but I'm not.
Cloud shook his head and turned back towards Zack's office. He slid the cardkey in the digital reader and openned the door. The large desk was completly submerged by paperwork and files. The office was the only place the young man didn't clean up. He walked up to the cabinet that his lover kept in the back of the room. He rapidly found the bottle of pills he was looking for. The SOLDIER always kept a large amount of painkillers at hand. When he found out about the pills they were just starting to date, he thougth that the older man was addicted but then he learned that first-class SOLDIER Steel never uses magical healing method unless his life is in danger. There was a much more logical explanation after all.
He heared the screams before he passed the door. Zack was standing in the middle of the room, holding Reno by the collar. Lorelai was yelling to her brother that she was going to kick his ass if he didn't let go.
- Well well, what did I tell you.
- Shut up Strife.
The trooper punched the Turk, splitting his lower lip and making him spit a little bit of blood.
- What's your problem? You want to impress your lover?
- We're not in the hallways, these quarters are our home so if you can't at least be respectful get the hell out of here.
Zack looked at his reserved lover, it wasn't in his habitudes to be so touchy about respect but he was rigth in a certain way.
- I give a choice Turk, or you sit down and talk this trougth or I kick you out of my appartement.
- The building is owned by ShinRa.
- Maybe but we pay to live here so it's our place. Now sit down or leave
- I'll talk to the girl, but alone.

- Did he say something mean?
- No and even if he did it's not like he's going to beat up your sister. They work together remember?
