Chapter 6
We sat at the table quietly as we ate our meal in awkward silence, Elena was practically laying in Tseng lap she was that close. Tseng finally broke the silence
“So Reno what time do you think you will be going to bed?”
Elena watched me closely waiting for my response.
“When do you want me to?” I replied stoically
Tseng tensed up for a moment he appeared to be in pain. Then I realised that Elena was digging her fingers into his upper thigh. “Well you seem quite tired”
“So do you Tseng. But you don’t see me applying pressure to your leg to tell you that.” I shot Elena a sarcastic look. “But then again I ain’t no-ones bitch”
My last statement was the one that got me pulled from my seat and thrown to the ground with a knee in my lower back and my arm twisted up behind my head.
“Reno! What did I say about showing respect?”
“You only said to show you respect….” My voice trailed off as I realised that I had just insulted him. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean anything against you.”
“Then who?” his voice lower with anger
“No-one” I replied dejectedly
Tseng slowly rose I could still feel his presence hovering over me as if I was his prey. I waited until Tseng had returned to his seat before made any attempt to getup off the cold hard floor. “Reno either finish your meal or go away” his voice hard with authority.
I slowly raised myself to a standing position “Yes sir” as I finally got to my feet I did not look to Tseng but rather in Elena’s direction “Elena I am sorry. I heard what happened in the hospital and I just wanted to say that if I have made you uncomfortable in anyway…” I turned and walked out of the kitchen just as I was about turn towards the hallway I stopped “but then again it would have been the only time your ever” I hesitate “You have nothing to worry about” then I disappeared down the hall. As I walked down the hall towards my room I could hear Elena giggling ‘I’ll show her’ I thought to myself. As I finally reached my room, I stood in the doorway for a moment I turned and looked back to the kitchen ‘I will take your precious Tseng. That you can count on’ then I went into my room closing the door behind me.
