Waking up
Chapter 8: Waking up
On two beds beside each other were lying the Steel twins. Standing in opposite sides of the room Cloud and Reno were just staring at the show. Just to add up to the tragic of the situation they were both turning 25 on midnigth. At that precise hour Zack openned his eyes. "Where am I?" his voice was hoarse from the inactivity. Cloud smiled as he answered. "You're in ICU." The SOLDIER looked at Cloud. "Rory?" Reno's voice rose from the other side of the room. "Turn around"
He turned around, getting dizzy with the mouvement, what he saw froze him. His sister was lying there with a bandage on her left wrist. He sat up immediatly, ignoring the dizziness and the headache he got from it. Cloud tried to stop him from moving but the SOLDIER just pushed him aside, falling as he tried to walk up to the other bed. Whispering something, he finally stood up and sat on his sister's side. Tears were streaming down his face. It was the first time he'd cried since a long long time, but he couldn't help it. Reno crossed the room and dragged the trooper out of the room. "Let's leave them alone."
He took her hand, droplets of salty water falling on the sheets. "Come on honey wake up. I didn't want this to happend. I promise you I'll get a fullcure materia when I get out of this damn place." He sliped his head in his hands, not even realizing the pain that radiated from his own wrist. Her hand started to move sligthly, as if she was having muscles spasms. He looked up to her and she openned her eyes. "Zacky?" He hugged her as hard as he could, stopping her from breathing, between them the baby kicked. He backed a bit. "Well happy birthday." She looked at him before asking if she heard right. "You're really going to get a fullcure materia?" He nodded and went to see her medical reccord. "They've done an ultrasound when you were still unconcious." The Turk rubbed her bandage. "And?" He locked his mako infused eyes in hers. "You're 17 weeks pregnant and you're having a little girl." They both started to smile like perfect idiots, a little girl. A tiny human being. "Do you have a name idea?" he sat down, wondering what he would of called his daugther. "Zoey, I want to call her Zoey."
Cloud and Reno came back from their walk, looking like they just had a figth. "Who's Zoey?" asked the trooper before forcing Zack in his own bed. The SOLDIER answered him while he was lying down. "My niece." The older turk looked at his girlfriend. "She's going to be a killer Turk." They all stopped talking, enjoying their time together.
